  1. The only Navy-like skin around so far...
  2. Very interessting missile, by far the most advanced weapone on human controled aircraft in DCS. I did quite some testing with Rb-15f and came up with some vage tactics. Any support on the discussion is very welcome... 1. If the target is an easy one (tanker-tankers) there really is no point in going through the whole bx-7/8 method. It is better to use the ''Panic'' mode. Stay on NAV - weapons on ATTACK - and Master Arm On. Point the nose of your aircraft on the target (you need to have a radar contact) and shoot. Your missile will travell straight ahead, skim the waves and search with his own radar. Max range is 60 km although it is better to release at 50km for kinematics. Propability of kill ------ VERY HIGH 2. The above method works against hard targets as well, lets say a frigate. In this case you can run your radar on silent mode and follow the enemy jammer line. Stay on NAV - weapons on ATTACK and Master Arm ON. Since you dont have active radar you dont know the range to target. So its better to launch a single missile, wait 30 seconds and then launch the other. After launch dont exit the area. Beam towards the ship-target to keep his radar occupied with yourself instead of your missiles. Propability of kill ----- MEDIUM/HIGH 3. If you are part of a 2 ship formation it is much better to go for the bx-7/8 method. Make sure each of you assigns the bx-7 on opossite sides of the target ship. If you have information on the target location, extend your preparation by entering a time-on-target value. Problem is it takes time to enter all those parameters to the computer, and you give away your possition because you have your radar on. Enemy CAP will be alerted. If preperation and launch is correct then propability of kill is VERY HIGH. 4. Assign bx6/7/8/9 on the mission editor. Get to the launch site, and launch. Propability of kill ---- VERY HIGH. :music_whistling:
  3. Thank you rreznik. Pave the way with those Ka-50s.
  4. Mr. Entropy, you are most kind. Happy to be of service to our Mi-8 community.
  5. Unofficial video from 259th Sq / 132nd Virtual Wing Squadron uses the Mi-8... -----------------------------------------
  6. Map projection of one of the Christmass Bombings raid. Audio from one of the flights. Very interesting, shows the thickness and layers of the air defence and the utilisation of Migs after certain conditions are met.
  7. Actually in Vietnam, after the fall of Saigon, the Unified Vietnam Air Force created a squadron that had both Mig-21 and F-5 (captured from the South). Must have been one hell of a nightmare commanding such a squadron (speed conversions to km/h and knots, altitudes in meters and feet, etc.) This mixed squadron saw some limited action against the Cambodian Khmer. Must be a one of a kind squadron !!! ---WE NEED TO MAKE ONE IN DCS MULTI---
  8. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SofP_XGJ3Y[/ame] Does anybody know the kind of special equipment these mi-8s use ? Should be interesting. Will try to make a mission on the editor. :pilotfly:
  9. Most sceenes are from Lock on Greece I took the liberty to include a few sceenes from various sources just to advertise DCS as a community. All credits to the original makers. [ame] [/ame] .............................................
  10. Is there a thread discussing Open Conflict Server ? I checked the server and it really is good for helli ops. Need more info about the briefing, zones, scoring system so is there a thread? Oh yes, and a ts3?

    Two questions

Snap up alowed the Cyrano radar to paint targets that fly at 20.000 ft when F-1 was low on deck. (whithout pointing the nose up) and shoot the -530. Since enemy jets had little or none Look Down capabilities it was quite handy tactik. I think it was more a message to the missile to calculate for a very steep climb.

    Two questions

    1) Will there be a Snap Up switch in the Mirage 2000C (like in the F-1)? 2) Will there be any anti-radar weapons eventually (like Armat)?
  13. Still... best plane ever made...
  14. No autopilot involved. Autopilot was definitely off...
  15. So there I was cruising at 30.000 ft and mach 1.3 with the normal CAP loadout, trying to catch a Bear infront of me (30 miles)... I get within 10 miles, get parameters for max range and I launch the first 530. Here is what happens... Because of the assymetric load (the other 530 still on my wing) the plane gets into some really strainge behaviour. Not the normal slight bank to the empty side. I mean some 30 degrees bank and a constand ''full rudder'' on the heavy side. Propably because of mach 1.3-1.4 but still... Is it supposed to do that, or bug? As soon as I fired the second 530, it jumps back to normal flight...
  16. Great news. But still its not the question of the plane being capable, its the question of the hundreds of people who will find the new jet interesting and want to learn it from scratch... Anyway, its the Mig-21 discussion all over again. Lets get the hard-to-learn jets in the same place with the 3-button and 8 BVR missiles FC3 planes and call it a fair fight.
  17. Not what I said... In the state the plane is right now (no IFF - no Radar elevation etc.) it is not capable of handling the Mig 29s... As the Mirage gets more complete yes it will be able to handle more advanced threats... But today, with half the jet complete, I think its too much to ask from the new guys to go up against such advanced and complete threats / weapons.
  18. Now that the Mirage is out, I think we really need a home... A server and TS3 where people can study and practice the mirage without the annoying presence of the F-15 and that stupid amraam and the Mig-29/Su-27 with the hated ET missiles. We need a Mirage - Mig21 - Helicopters server. If such a server/TS3 shows up, I would be very interested in helping new players get set up and have training lessons. Let me know what you think...
  19. Next topic will be... ...I was cruising at 40.000 feet and a volcanic eruption stalls my engine because of the ash cloud...
  20. Cant read the whole discusion, so I just ask... Until the PRF switch is introduced, the only current PRF available is ILV? Is it really working as ILV on all bar scans and azi positions (at the moment?)
  21. Dont know if reported before... Cruising at around 30.000 ft the cockpit pressure instrument shows 15 (as it should) At that point I unlock the canopy, causing explosive decompression and here is what happens... after canopy is blown off..... 1. Sound warning goes on (as it should) 2. Cockpit pressure warning light on warning panel goes on (as it should) 3. but Cockpit pressure instrument (in front of the stick) still shows 15 (as if pressure is equal to 15.000 ft). I think it should imediately flip to 30 (equal to the altitude flying)... Dont know if it is a bug or the sensor just goes off in case of explosive decompression. :pilotfly:
  22. If I switch the Fly by Wire to Emergency mode (restricted envelope) does this take into accound the position of the G-Limiter switch (next to it?) I mean is there a different emergency mode for G-limiter A/A than the emergency mode in G-limiter A/G? Also, the 5th channel of Fly by Wire is full envelope channell, or just a last resort emergency chanell? :helpsmilie:
