[RESOLVED] No FFB support (not even center spring effect)
swither replied to OnlyforDCS's topic in Bugs and Problems
FFB support will be added in a coming build :) -
It's something we intent do put in, but as i see it, it's not really a must for early access.
-
Current test builds are weighting in at roughly 4 gb. But this might go up or down. Daniel
-
This is something we considered doing at one point, but we have deemed it unfeasible for us to do given the shear amount of work involved. The number of recording sessions we've had to do just for the American Jester is insane:pilotfly:
-
Yes, one of the fixes we hope to do it to make it see large structures like bridges :) And regarding vehicles on land, those would likely be really hard to see irl. /D
-
To add to Cobra's answer above: You have to remember that this is not a synthetic aperture radar, it's not able to or even designed to see buildings, etc. It's made for finding ships at sea primarily. That being said we intend to revise the implementation somewhat and improve object detection as well as how it handles some of the new ground types (Forests, etc.). But keep in mind that sans the new ground types our implementation looks very much like the videos and pictures you can find of the radar display :) Best Daniel PS. it's very much possible to see airfields with the current implementation under the right circumstances!

We're really happy with the turn out of the event yesterday. It's a great way to get people engaged, interested, and excited about the pre order launch. The stream was a couple of seconds late due to me being nervous and fumbling with the mouse :joystick:, we never said there would be any live footage, and we spent several hours answering questions live on hoggit afterwards as we mentioned in the stream :) Sorry you didn't like it, but it's impossible to please everyone :)

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
swither replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Would love to do realistic force feedback implementation, but no one in the team actually has a force feedback stick, and they're not that easy to come by nowadays :joystick: -
I can add to Naquaii's response that all of the above are implemented in the dev branch since a while back ;)
-
While bundling maps with the modules was our hopes initially we have realised that this is probably not really feasible given the amount of work going into making them. Buuut, everything is subject to change as usual :) We decided to not include "free theatre" in module description as we just can't say yet. /D

Can either crew member in a multi-crew Tomcat initiate ejection
swither replied to Bad Idea Hat's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
There's a lever in the back seat that selects whether pilot ejects when rio ejects or not. Rio always ejects when pilot ejects (kind of makes sense) -

What’s wrong with Jesterina? -
** F-14 Road to Release + Christmas Update!! **
swither replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Aweesome idea! Thankfully i don't think we have any recordings yet where the gender plays a role. In general Jester talks directly to pilot, hence mainly using "you" :) E.g. "Hey, you forgot to arm the ejection seat", "Allright, obviously we're in a hurry, accepting current INS alignment", or just phrases like "MiG-28 3 o-clock" :pilotfly: Edit: Oh, and i can add that we have considered adding an option to have a female Jester, but if we do that it won't be until jester is at a quite mature stage. -
Anybody else looking forward to being a RIO?
swither replied to JG27_Arklight's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'm obviously extremely biased... but some of the best multiplayer experiences i've had, in any game, has been testing multicrew in the tomcat, both as RIO and pilot. The whole crew coordination thing is just really awesome, the AWG-9 is almost like a meta-game inside the sim, and just having a second set of eyes is extremely useful. Aaaand, if you get bored of the pilot trying to show of by buzzing towers here and there we've left some sweet easter eggs in the AWG-9 :joystick: /D -

F-14 module release on which DCS version branch ?
swither replied to Bogey Jammer's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Which version is first depends on ED's patching schedule. Regarding steam: Won't be released there until after early access. -
We're still aiimng for 2017. Keep in mind though that everythign is subject to change :) Early access is when we first release it, it just means that it won't be feature complete and will be likely to have bugs, etc...
-
Like mentioned above, only AFCS for now and we might do Lantirn but we haven't decided yet. If we end up going for a -D upgrade that would have DFCS of course :)
-
Both, but likely only -B at first release, we will then add -A a couple of months later.

On the topic of Iranian Tomcats & Russian Weapons
swither replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
While it would be fun to do this, it would require changing the pilot interfaces and things like that (hence a fairly big effort). The whole point with the Iranian modifications would be that it was likely a hack, using existing interfaces etc. Just tricking the system into thinking it was the normal weapons. Not that i have any sources for this, just thinking it would be the most likely scenario :P -
hm, we haven't really planned anything but i like the idea. Adding something to the score screen would be dependent on ED, but we might be able to add something to the kneeboard for instance. Not promising anything though...

It will work with all official carriers. We basically need to program the glideslope for each carrier's ACLS, but that's a fairly quick thing to do so we can easily add new ones.
