  1. ED can take criticism. Sithspawn was to delete my comments because I was an ass. But the problem is that ED did nothing to improve it's E3 image. It is still just a photo of wags sitting on a couch wearing an oculus rift. That photo will sit on the boards for all time as a permanent reminder of bad PR. As will hundreds of other worthless posts, taking up the time of people who are unfortunate enough to read them. So the lesson here that I learned is that I shouldn't make light humor when ED's image is at stake, nor should I waste my time on these forums because I will end up being outed and used as an example of what makes a bad customer.
  2. Either it's a graphics card driver problem or your new card is overheating and rebooting (but your system is staying alive, without video.) Are you overclocking your graphics card or did you mess with the default fan settings? I found nVidia's new drivers turn off the fans when the card is under a certain temperature, and only engage them after the card is in danger of overheating. Try cranking up your fan speeds to 50%, 75% or 100% then do another run of the game.
  3. Either way it'd be nice if someone were to go through and mark off dead mods or move them to another message board. The 2D SU-25T cockpit was totally awesome but it is obsolete now that the 3D cockpit is out and is much improved. Things like this just pile up and confuse new users...
  4. OCULUS RIFT PHOTO CONTEST! http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2091504&postcount=1 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2091504&postcount=1 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2091504&postcount=1
  5. No kidding! These days...no motherboard jumpers, no irq conflicts, no driver conflicts, no ram shortages(640k)... No giant ribbon cables...(SATA is a frickin dream compared to IDE...) Shall I go on?
  6. I've successfully modified several LUAs using JGSME without any trouble. Just to note: you need to edit the file, then load it via JGSME. You shouldn't edit a file that has been replaced by JGSME because it will cause problems the next time you re-mod.
  7. OCULUS RIFT PHOTO CONTEST! In order to celebrate Eagle Dynamics success with the Oculus Rift at E3, I am personally going to sponsor an Oculus Rift photo contest. The rules for the contest are simple: Post a photo of yourself, using the Oculus Rift and any Eagle Dynamics product, that other people viewing the photo can appreciate. This contest will run until June 30, 2014. At which point I will choose the best photo and personally send a small gift to the winner, mailed directly from Japan. If the contest becomes rather large at any given point, I will allow the forum moderators to act as judges to keep the contest fair and prevent personal bias. So, what are you waiting for? Post a photo of you and your awesome Oculus Rift setup today!
  8. Here, give or take... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2066515&postcount=187 SweetFX has its own configuration with a wide variety of settings so be ready to do some reading on the subject. Many people have their own preferred settings.
  9. I used to be a pilot until I took a checklist to the knee...
  10. I personally like the new clouds. They do exactly what Mustang said they would, which is break up the pattern of repeating clouds. Thanks Mustang! Keep em coming!
  11. The only thing I would recommend is going heavy on your motherboard/cpu/ram/PSU and going lighter on your video card if you had to make a trade-off. The main reason being that video cards now account for the main part of performance in DCS, and if you buy a decent computer to begin with, the only thing you will need to upgrade in the next 5 years is the video card. Especially getting 16GB of matched DIMMSs right away will save you from having to upgrade later. Once your base system is together and operating flawlessly, the only thing you will need to do to change the videocard is reinstall some drivers instead of doing a full system re-install. Other then that, you will definitely want a Thrustmaster Warthog, a decent pair of pedals such as the Slaw Device and a TrackIR. Also, don't waste time overclocking. Just get a second job and buy better hardware. It's better than replacing burnt out components.
  12. This topic may now be closed. Best possible answer given by slowhand.
  13. Title says it all. Every SU-25T mission I get this weird double-triangle and I've no idea what it is or why it's there... Something left in the default kneepad settings?
  14. Just try it and tell me if your framerate improves. Trying to help. I'm running on a 550TI and I get 20-30fps until things start smoking...
  15. Well, common sense would dictate if he's calling out to 3 other people in your squad he couldn't possibly get all of you in just one round...
  16. Can't mention MFG Crosswind pedals without also putting in a plug for Slaw Device at roughly the same price... After all, you wouldn't want to be biased, would you?
  17. There's a music thread in chit-chat here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=55557&page=111 But I honestly can't say I'd listen to any of it while flying. It's much better just to hum the first few seconds of Flight of the Valkyries over and over again...
  18. Totally missed the nVidia 3000 graphics driver. That's definitely part of the problem.
  19. Get a pair of pedals that will outlive the USB interface. Just google for "Slaw Device"... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115807 (I didn't write that post but agree with what he wrote. I've had mine 6 months and they are rock solid. Solid steel feels like something real beneath your feet.)
  20. Can you see the Realtek lan settings in the bios? Can you disable it and re-enable it from there?
  21. Priceless how the 3 yellow crowns at a distance looks almost like a smiling face from a distance....
  22. This can happen for a lot of reasons so the first thing to do is take a deep breath and find a spare computer to troubleshoot with. Try booting the machine with no video cards in to confirm the error. You may also want to do a BIOS reset and re-seat all of the ram. Unplug any harddrives/cdrom drives to reduce the number of factors causing the crash. Go slow. Be methodical. Try to figure out which piece of hardware is causing the problem. My similar error to this was that I did a bad BIOS update in winter, then after 3 months, rebooted the machine to have it crash constantly. Turns out in cold weather the BIOS was fine but in warm weather the dram timings were way off causing horrific crashing.
  23. Not sure on this one. Especially if you didn't touch any other settings the onboard LAN should be just fine. Does your motherboard have onboard video that you can try it without any video cards installed? Did you check the device manager and look for hidden devices to see if the LAN controller is there but hidden? Did you try repairing the lan controller (in software, not the hardware) or is it not there at all? My system boots fine straight to HDMI using an nvidia card. If I have my vga monitor connected it boots to that first, then when windows loads it switches back... Were you sure to disconnect the power completely from the machine before pulling cards? Just a few thoughts, will check in regularly on this.
  24. Yeah, the next thing I was going to mention was firing...if you have a bogey 3 o'clock flat to your right and you spot them, then you would roll...left? before firing... (So that the underside of the plane is facing them.) The next obvious question is what kind of paint job do you do on the underside of your plane to either mock the enemy or strike fear into them...
