  1. Any chance to add the ability to select Mirage F1CE?. Cannot chose it on the app or by editing sorties on the webpage.
  2. I was questioning my purchase until I finally got to try it tonight. My experience is with the RIFT (not S) and recently with just using trackIR and a 27”1440pV monitor. I was worried my system wasn’t enough for the g2. Surprisingly, I found it very playable at first attempts, multiplayer only, so no complicated mission for my cpu to compete with. I was thinking I would neee both a CPU and GPU upgrade, and while that might still be in the cards the existing system works well enough for now, even downtown in PG. I followed recommendations on the PD=1.0 herein and and making sure no supersampling on steam VR... also followed Thuds recommendations on the nvidia application specific settings. I was 100 percent expecting to need an upgrade to my 1080ti but was surprised by how it was so much smoother than expected. No way near 90fps, mind you, but I’m satisfied for now... I found the entirety of the Viper cockpit gauges are clearly visible. I experience no ghosting or stuttering. It’s easier to read my MFDs than it was on my 1440p flat screen. It’s also easier to visually spot ground targets from the air. Compared to my RIFT this is a a significant upgrade. With the RIFT I need to map a zoom key to read the cockpit or lean in, now I just look. What’s really amazing is that and frame rates have not actually suffered because of the PD / supersampling that is no longer needed. In short, while I’m sure I’ll want to upgrade at a point of my choosing, I can live with my 1080t for now and upgrade when the market conditions are more favorable. And one more thing. After not flying in VR since June I used the G2 for about two hours tonight and found it to be a better visual experience than my monitor and at the same time my eyes felt very relaxed after using it and it was so much more comfortable than what I was used to.
  3. I have them all and think Syria is the best map in DCS.
  4. There is an option is your settings for the F16 to pick left, right, or both eyes.
  5. Didn’t notice anything about these on the ED F16 feature survey.
  6. Or, if you’re flying a NATO aircraft, wouldn’t you just use the NATO reporting name? E.g., Su-27 = Flanker
  7. You are essentially arguing the game is worth more now than when it was on sale. I suppose this leaves you with an expected value problem. Is the marginal utility gained by playing until the next sale worth more than the cost savings of waiting? I think your decision may already be made, but these are tough choices given the uncertainty and information asymmetry involved. How long until the next sale? What will the cost be then? Is there a real risk it will never go on sale again? Will my life even last until the next sale? Will my computer die and force my to buy a new 2080TI before the next sale or will DCS have another patch that requires a 3090TI to just achieve 30 FPS be issued and then a new sale will start? or :pilotfly:???? Unfortunately, I don’t think any amount of pedantic demands will help change any of the variables informing your purchases, but for better or worse you can always count on time.
  8. Yeah, the modules are bargains compared to the hardware.
  9. Doh, I guess when you click on one of the commands described as AI Communication, then you get the entire list and you can replace it with what the FINISH button puts in the clipboard. That was easy enough I guess. Thanks for the help guys!
  10. All of these have been set as you suggested. To be more specific, if a key the mic and say "switch", then voice attack reacts with "Unrecognized : 'switch'" I checked the keywords and 'Switch" is in fact listed as one of my 941 keywords. This makes no sense to me, as the voice recognition is correctly interpreting the spelling from my voice but VAICOM must be ignoring it!? So, I followed the instructions and suggested by soupyc and clicked finish. A pop up window came up explaining that the updated keywords were placed in the windows clipboard so I had to open the DCS profile, double click AI communications in (category keywords collection) and clear all existing keywords in the 'When I say field" and then paste the new keyword set. Unfortunately there are no 'AI Communications' command whatsoever under keywords so what the hell am I supposed to do?
  11. No, I haven’t, but I only bought VAICOM a month ago and it seems to already recognize most commands, wouldn’t switch be among them? So it’s possible I missed a step. I tried to follow the manual as closely as possible, but I don’t remember that step.
  12. I agree there is plenty of help, but it could be way better organized. I mean, most of it depends on the community. We’re collectively a bunch of unpaid ED customer support personnel. :helpsmilie::pilotfly: Also, we have so many “help” threads here in the forums with 100s of pages on nonsense to weed through for a single nugget or two of knowledge. This could be much better.
  13. I have VAICOM pro and it mostly works, but it has never recognizes the “switch” command. Voice attack interprets the word correctly, VAICOM just doesn’t seem to have it in its list for me. The double tap is a great idea.
  14. Sorry man, but this seems like a narcissistic view. There are plenty of people who flew some of these aircraft in real life who would have trouble setting up their email or an iPad much less DCS for that matter. Where is the simulated realism when the pilot has to do the airplane manufacturers job and someone who flew these airplanes in RL struggles with their set up? Why is it so bad if ED spends a little effort helping people other than YOU, who have it all figured out?
  15. I agree, but both would be nice. If money is involved, I’d only be likely to spend more on the Huey if it were significantly modernized.
  16. One of the things I liked about the original Su-27 Flanker sim 25 years ago is that it had a relatively deep collection of AI assets For the time that could be used in missions and this was very welcome. Flash forward to 2020 and it seems we have a woeful lack of improvement in the depth of the AI aircraft collection available for mission creation. Just take the Nevada theatre for example, how many types of aircraft operate in that airspace on a daily basis? Many many more than are in DCS. I know this is sort of a different issue from flyable aircraft, but it is inexplicable to me that there isn’t more emphasis on continual improvement of the AI asset base. Of course most of us want fighters first, attack aircraft and bombers second, cargo and support aircraft third, and then maybe civilian aircraft as a distant fourth. The thing is, cargo and civilian aircraft are much easier to model because they don’t have the elaborate weapon systems of the more combat focused aircraft. It’s unclear to me why ED, which at one point seemed really interested in having a broad collection of AI aircraft has just done so little to expand its collection. I also think ED is missing the boat by keeping module development tools so close. If this was more open we’d see more developers do modules, and I’d guess some of the simpler to develop modules would emerge to fit this much needed aircraft inventory gap. What if a developer’s module or associated AI (which should be free to all DCS users for consistency) isn’t up to standards? We are always free not to use it in our missions or allow it on our servers. It seems like DCS at this point has a small moat to competition in the realistic combat simulation area, but maybe the way to keep this edge isn’t to have such a narrow look on the world’s aircraft and airspace. I think ED should be quickly moving toward a whole world medium detail simulation in which the existing detailed combat theatres could be layered on top like scenery packs in civilian flight sims. Having a larger collection of flyable and AI assets of all types would add to the immersion and grow the user base and broad appeal of DCS.
  17. Is the Yankee variant a possibility, or just too new to get good info?
  18. Have you flown it since the patch yesterday? The ground handling especially NWS has improved.
  19. There clearly should be a way to download actual weather, but also to record historical weather and add it to future missions. One of a the problems with the current system I think is that DCS aircraft are unrealistically difficult to control in weather. For example, a ten knot cross wind in a F-16 requires significant control application to counter. I imagine you’d barely notice a ten knot cross wind in the real airplane. Maybe the problem isn’t in flight, but just the handling on the runway with a crosswinds, even 5-6 knots is very noticeable. The turbulence in DCS is another matter altogether. It’s kind of fun to crank up the wind.. if it’s right down the runway you can basically do stationary takeoffs and landings in some of the airplanes. I tried that first time in L-39, and forgetting winds were backwards in DCS the airplane immediately weathervaned 180 degrees back into the wind.
  20. I have all my DCS volume sliders set at 50%. Seems to work for me.
  21. Great. Thanks. Is it safe to assume that the next update to my current install will not be affected? I’m new to TacView, so not sure how often you guys push updates.
  22. I’m looking forward to the fixes and thoroughly enjoying the Viper as is. It’s not like the devs planned on delays and it’s not like everyone didn’t know it is early access. I’d say I’ve already got my money’s worth. ED, Hurry up and early access the 15C!
  23. Is it clear though how much of the spiraling slipstream from the prop will just strike the vertical stabilizer from the side causing a yaw moment vs flow over across both sides to make the rudder controllable?
