I went through replacing those Oculus from the Reddit DCS thread. it works, but I went though hours of HELL I will never get back. Stop the Oculus services, then replace with the previous versions /Oculus/Support/.... that were saved by someone who set them up for download. Not their fault, but we had 3 power outages while I was working on this! On stand by my comments online in several forums on how much I hate Meta, Oculus,, etc..etc... I am not a child, but a dream would be a Meta Oculus Hate fanclub page on the Internet...

I think I moved on,,, and need to look at more videos and the manual... to sperate the visual cam from the IR. I haven't been flying the F-15E much lately and am coming back to find and fix the issues I have with the pods, right now my Flares and Chaff are not working... I will visit my TGP pod issues again soon. I think my thoughts were about seeing targets clearly with the pod.

IRL, brakes were <profanity>ty.... fuel tanks developed leaks easily... very thirsty... often lost ordnance from bad or worn parts... misfiring sidewinders ... but the good, very dependable engines.. very little high issues... faster than a ...mofo. Very few flap issues.. carries a lot of heavy weapons.. almost always brought crew home. Before the F models. These are what I remember from active duty flight line.

in helos in sims it is even worse the lack of the speed sensation. The cues we use, sound and visual, are sort of like being in a fast car. if the car is not made for speed and feels like junk and handles poorly at high speed it feels like you are going very fast. If you are in a car that handles very wells and smooth it feels slower. other visual cues are other objects for relativity. each aircraft is different. In the future it will probably improve with tech. But it is just one of those things that varies with each person, aircraft and computer. A long time ago, 60 years ago? Disneyland had a ride 'Rocketship to the moon..." I believe it was named. It was a movie but with sound and a large curved screen. The seat deflated which simulated +G Forces, and inflated for -G forces. You didn't hear the air in the seat at all. Just a thought...

I can get a 40 to 80 fps.... in vr,, that's not the issue, I said that the controls in the switch from a-g to a-a modes, the radar screen loses the ability to be control once ina while, like some key press causes causes radar controls to jam and not be fixable without getting another aircraft.

once in a while cannot switch back from A-G to A-A and use the A-A radar. I start out with both a-a load and a-g load outs. I make a run with the A-G weapons and switch to A-A. The controls and settings refuse to let me get the A-A radar up and running properly with being able to setup any A-A mode and cannot move any cursor. The A-G modes still function properly. This has been going on since release of the F-15E. I know of others that also get locked out of settings. I cannot find what key or key binding jacks it up. Anyone else?

I got mine with the F-15E going pretty good, my issue is my old video card... in VR it really needs a lot of computer power. I posted a writeup recently of settings I use. I can try and find it and point others to it, if they have Oculus VR.

my log file DCS refuses to run and crashes starting this morning at midnight. I see that someone figured out is was the VR fools at FB, Meta who frakked us all, they caused this Fiasco! I hope no one ever buys their products! I wish I had not. Sorry for posting in here thinking DCS was the cause... dcs.log

Game crashing on start: started at 12:00 am Pacific time, smashing head on wall since digging through computer. With or without my VR, I flew a few hours thursday night without issues. Then 12 am 02-16-2024 Kablooey!

I found a Video Casmo TV (youtube) for the TGP on the F-15E. I like it. But, I am going to change some of my Hotas setup to match his.

Video or files, threads, explain how to use F-15E TGP pod in A-G, with/without the IR/night pod ? I am trying to use the TGP with the video as I fly and ID and lock targets for weapons, but no matter how hard I work on trying to ID what I am looking at it is very hard to ID and get a clear look at targets, regardless if I zoom in for a closer look. The video quality looks terrible. Yes, it is in Beta. Of course I am proabably not doing something right, always more settings to use. Thanx

I have installed a bat file which shuts down the oculus background b.s.. and seems to help. I shut it down when starting my sims in vr. and re-enable it when I am finished. the oculus tray tool helps too. But, the damned hourglass comes back if I change settings in graphics in DCS. I cannot pinpoint the root of this. it does not show up in task manager, so I cannot pinpoint what drags it down. If I didn't have a home to put money in, I would just toss my video card for a new one.

1980 the VTAS on F4-E4 was on the helmet, on a small extension so it could be put over the left eye, it was about a 2 inch square. I have no clue if it was moved to other side of helmet or not. I wore one helmet with it in an F4, I was told by crews the pilots did not like them when they first came out.

while this thread is a few months old.. I have the issue with Designate not working often. I found if I press any other button, or switch setting before the Designate setting on my HOTAS, it locks me out of Designating and transfer weapons menu. I think it is bugged, but I cannot find which button is causing the issue. But it does seem to be causing others issues with Designating with the TPOD, so I am not alone. IMHO.

your right... aim-9... the other weapon they carried was the A-G. I took these photo on Zulu pad Alert East German Border. 1980. While working the flight line. Old age.. memory crap. Some of my photos are different, because I took buttloads of slides in those days, and rescanned them.

we took a lit cig on the flightline with the F-4 Phantom, front of the Aim-7 and watched the eye follow the lit cig. it followed it end to end of it's travel... 1980. FYI. USAF Vet.

try making sure your (ipd) eye distance adjustment setting is correct. I found even being off a fraction can cause vision issues. Example, mine is 62.5. Also, even though it is VR try a different distance to the screen itself. I have no cluse why that makes a difference with VR on your head, but it did for me.
