  1. I bought the F-18 stick for the Hotas, I tried re-mapping it to the trim button on the stick but I found that doesn't really work any better unfortunately. If that's a good mod I'll definitely get it as I really want to be able to use all of the systems effectively. Aside from this mod, are there any other good mods you would suggest? I just wanted to doublecheck, this is the mod you're talking about, https://deltasimelectronics.com/products/thumbstick-slew-sensor-adapter
  2. Hey guys, I apologize in advance as this may be a bit of a dumb question, I've had DCS F-18 for well over a year and a half and I still don't know how to use 70% of the systems in the jet which has frustrated me for a while now, since I didn't find the in-game training all that useful I've started binge watching Youtube training videos as they seem to be WAY more helpful and thorough, I'm able to create a scenario in the game then load up the training video for whatever system i'm trying to learn and I can go by it bit by bit as I've found this to be really helpful and I've learned alot in the past few days. Anyways to the question, I'm working on the Maverick E & F right now, I'm using the TDC but I find it to be considerably too sensitive so I'm having a hard time getting it right on the target and locking it in, I've gone into the axis tune panel and I see the Deadzone, Saturation, etc. but it doesn't appear that any of them are affecting the sensitivity, so I'm wondering how I can go about doing that? I've also looked at the user curve panel but I'm not sure what does what exactly and I don't really want to screw that up. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Hey Guys, I appreciate all of the responses! I see a few of you guys recommend making some modifications, my concern about modifying is that the stick/throttle works great for the fixed wing aircraft that I fly in DCS, I have 13 Fixed wing modules for DCS from the P-51/Spitfire through F-14, F-16, F-18, AV8, Mirage, etc. So I would hate to make modifications to the stick that would affect my ability to use it with those modules. I wouldn't say that my issue is controllability so much, it's more mapping and dealing with the collective, throttle, etc. Trying to get everything mapped out, which is why I'm wondering if there's perhaps a better stick/throttle for the AH64. I also have the UH-1 and Mi-24 modules. Which I don't really have an issue with the UH-1 due to it's simplicity, there aren't THAT many things that I need to map, plus with the throttle/collective it's easy to map one of the throttles to the throttle and the other to the collective since you can operate them independently of one another. With the AH64 since it has 2 throttles, plus the collective I'm having a hard time mapping that. If any of you have a good control scheme for the HOTAS Warthog that you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd be more than willing to give that a go. It honestly just bums me out not really being able to play/enjoy this module after spending $60 on it. From what I've seen from in-game footage and attempting to play it myself it seems like a really awesome module but I just can't seem to get it working well.
  4. Hey guys, I have a couple of questions, so I pre-ordered the AH64 module way back when they first allowed pre-ordering it and I downloaded it on day 1, but I've found it to be kind of a hellish experience with the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog to where I don't really even enjoy playing it, I've played all of 2-3 hours since it was first released. My question is, is there a better stick/throttle combo available for running these types of sims? Or are there addons that I could be using in conjunction with my HOTAS Warthog that would make it a more pleasurable experience? I have both the A-10 and F-18 stick, I've found that the F-18 stick actually works better for AH64 as is allows you to map a couple of extra bindings to the stick, but I'm still running into issues.. Additionally, does anyone have a good key binding profile saved for AH64 using the HOTAS Warthog that they've found worked really well that they wouldn't mind sharing? A big part of the problem I seem to run into is regarding the all of the different controls that you need to setup for the AH64 and it's been driving me nuts, trying to figure out what to control with what on the stick/throttle, it also seems like I've run out of buttons/controls that I can map. Anyways, any input would be appreciated.
  5. So you can't update the stable release of 2.7 to 2.8 Beta? it has to be from 2.7 Beta to 2.8 Beta? If that's the case, that makes sense. I actually asked a couple of people that EXACT question and they told me you could upgrade from the stable 2.7 release to 2.8 Beta..
  6. Hey guys, I apologize for the stupid question in advance, but I'm not seeing any way of updating to 2.8, I don't see it in the settings or on the launcher. I talked to a couple people on FB, and they said they updated it via the launcher, but as I mentioned I'm definitely not seeing it.. I've seen a few threads where people have talked about running commands in the command prompt, but aside from that I'm not seeing how exactly I'm supposed to update?
  7. Since everyone else has already answered the M2 questions, I'll take on the Windows question, I would personally stick with 10 for now. I upgraded to 11 when it was still in Beta and it was absolutely horrible which is to be expected so after a couple of days I reverted back to 10, then I upgraded to Windows 11 again a couple months ago and while it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it had been, I still don't like it much. I was running into Issues with it with several of my other games where it wasn't allowing you to press multiple keys at the same time, it was acting like they were sticky keys, which sticky keys was disabled to prevent this but it was still doing it. There were several other performance issues I ran into as well, so I again reverted to 10. Plus I don't really care for the menu's and what not in 11, on 10 I run ClassicShell so I can set it up like Windows 98, 2000, XP, 7, etc. Which ClassicShell doesn't work with 11 yet, I found an alternative program to fix the menu issue but overall I wasn't overly impressed with 11 so I'm going to stick with 10 for the time being.
  8. That'll be a great setup! I'm running a 3950X right now and a 2080Ti and I absolutely love it. While it's a couple years old I can still run every game that I have at the max settings without any issues.
  9. Hey guys, I was looking at potentially getting some sort of head tracking hardware, the TrackIR stuff is a little out of my price range at the moment because I'm about to file my taxes which were a bit more expensive than anticipated. So, I'm wondering if there are any good alternatives to TrackIR itself? When I was searching around I saw DELANCLiP, but it looks like those mount onto a headset which I don't use a headset as I have a 7.1 Surround Sound system setup (I love feeling the rumble) so I'm looking for any alternatives that you guys have tried and would suggest that might be a bit cheaper. Any input would be greatly appreciated.. -Dieter
  10. Hey guys, I really appreciate the replies, I know that I didn't give you guys a lot to go on! I'm pretty sure the ones I was thinking of were either VKB or WinWing. I'm sure now that you guys have mentioned them I'll watch a DCS video tomorrow and see exactly what I was looking for, as that's what always seems to happen! Anyways like I said, I really appreciate the responses! -Dieter
  11. Hey guys, I have a quick question because I'm having a complete brain fart right now, what's the name of the company that makes really customizable HOTAS Setups? I'm not talking about Thrustmaster, there's another one out there and they seem to sponsor a lot of the Youtubers that make content for DCS and other flight sims, naturally when I'm trying to find the name of the company I can't seem to find the video's that they've sponsored! I know they make sticks for the F-16 and F-18 along with a few others, and I know that their products have been really highly rated, but like I said I'm having a total brain fart right now and I can't seem to remember their name, and when I've been hastily using Google to try to find them I'm not coming up with anything.
  12. I'll take a look at the controls to see what I can do to get this working.
  13. The buttons I'm currently trying to assign it to on my stick aren't being used by anything. I guess I need to find someone using a HOTAS Warthog and see how they have it bound. The problem with it being bound to Button 1 is its either super responsive and overly sensitive, OR it barely responds to the input at all, this is without changing ANY of the curvature or saturation settings. It just seems to be really touchy sometimes and other times it barely responds to the inputs.
  14. I'm honestly getting a bit frustrated trying to setup the controls for it, I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog with an F-18 stick. The default controls for the Maverick are on the throttle, it's Button 1, which is a little bead of sorts and it's really hard to precisely control that and get it locked onto a target, I was hoping to use one of the controls on my stick to control it, but it's refusing to let me when I try to change them under Axis commands, I've set keyboard commands as well and saved them, but when I get into the game it doesn't recognize the commands from the keyboard. I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong, but again I'm not quite sure what it is at this point.
  15. As always, you guys were right it was the sensor control switch not being on the left MFD, once I saw the diamond I was able to uncage it. Though I do have a bit of an inane control question, the sensor control Aft and Forward, are those controlling where the seeker is looking on the missile itself? Or are those totally different controls? As I mentioned, it's a bit of an inane question, I'm still trying to work on what I need to map, etc.
