  1. Can't wait for COP, Feb 2nd release date apparently.
  2. I've asked in the ACE skype channel for you to get permission I'll get back to you with an update on that if someone else doesn't.
  3. Agreed, this was my response to the Red Orchestra (another game by tripwire) official steam group in response to their trying to grab votes for KF: "I'm sorry, but I had to vote for DCS on this one, strictly because you get FPSes every year, where you only get a Quality CFS on the level of DCS every 2 or so years... " I know I should have added if your lucky to the end of that, however it's the truth. I have to say, DCS was the GOTY in my opinion of the ones listed (ArmA 2 would be the only real contender vs DCS IMHO). Still, I gotta say, I expect that kind of quote from steampowered forums, let alone FPS junkies who don't play CFSes at all or very little...
  4. Tharos I was actually discussing this over at a few other forums. Let me give some thoughts. For a generally good method of LOD, it would be preferable to use a combination of 3 things for calculating the LOD: Distance, Speed, and Altitude. A faster moving object will have less rendering, the same with higher and further, on the other hand, a similar approach as the grass layer from ArmA 2 may help for cover and concealment. Furthermore, as for data, remember that you can reuse game assets, even on a ground level, so the main issue would be rendering it and placing it, not hard drive space.
  5. Sweet, Afganistan, time to kill some terrorists! (PS. GITS Rocks!)
  6. personally, i'd rather just have a fighter in DCS than a new LO:FC product...
  7. if there was TrackIR support, I'd consider it, however racing games - trackir = no fun...
  8. I would love to see amphibious operations, imagine the possibilities for missions.....
  9. I agree, it would be very nice to see that modeled, as it is something that can save your butt against icing in the mountains.
  10. I would actually prefer to see jamming like this, as DCS is about REALISM, so why not go for the maximum realism possible.
  11. stay with it leroy, don't give up, and whatever you do don't go charging in yelling "LEERRROYYYY JENKINS!" or you WILL crash!
  12. Personally, I would want a F-14, F-18, F-16 or an SU-33, preferably the 14, 33, or the 18 though, as I would like to do some carrier ops...
  13. if only ED went for that... and a few other "noncritical" things
  14. so the question becomes, will BS have the grass effects later on as well? as for release dates, take your time, don't rush, we don't want the A-10C to wind up rushed prematurely like ArmA 2 was...
  15. I got it the day i had money for the english release (dec 26th)... figured i needed a new flight sim, and oh boy oh boy, it delivered...
  16. In that case, I ask you ED, please do what is needed to get it so we can run dcs on linux. There are those of us who want to go linux only, and dump windows, but can't because certain pieces of software won't work in linux.
  17. Anybody? I'm going to most likely attempt to run it in WINE when I get a linux boot up and running. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of if it is going to work, or if it would just be a waste of time / activation.
  18. new version replaces old version in the patch... and no, there are no issues as long as you have a decent rig.
  19. The Falcon 4.0 FM was horrible yes, however it still is the best fighter combat sim out there until an actual DCS fighter sim.... Hopefully by then we will get a dynamic campaign too.
  20. I honestly think that if this guy can't wait a weekend for the dev team to get back from their weekend off, than maybe he is too impatient to be able to enjoy DCS...
  21. actually that would be AGSI now.... but ya, Ubi Romania for the naval aspect, or Sonalysts.
  22. freaking cool, I hope they can put this kind of stuff in the next patch... (yes I know 1.01 is feature frozen, 1.01a maybe?)
  23. in this genre they have to, otherwise they won't be around very long. mega companies like EA can give people the finger because of the fact that their so big and diverse, and so mainstream, ED however is smaller and focused solely on simulations, and as such, if they anger the community, they very well could get screwed in the end...
