  1. Thanks for the reply Aeroscout. Actually, I don't use any of the Logitech stick except for the circuit board. I install these things in the old CH Force FX stick and they work just great. The board and associated device driver is really nice and rock solid. Actually, the only thing that is really bad about the Logitech stick is the pots. It's really not a bad stick except for that; especially for the price! I know what a horrible rep Logitech gets for their sticks and I just wanted to show the other side a bit. Don't know anything about the MS sticks except that it's hard to find good prices on them and they work very differently from other sticks which keeps me away from them.
  2. The Logitech Wingman Force 3D makes a great force feedback stick for Lomac, Falcon4, etc. You can get them cheap off ebay; as little as $5. I have bought several of them and love them. Here's one I'm bidding on now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170078558031&rd=1&rd=1 For $5 you can't go wrong.
  3. egaRim, The main reason I guess is that most computers these days do not have a GamePort interface on them. It used to be that most sound cards came with a GamePort but that is no longer the case. The other reason is many people have problems getting GamePort to work very well with XP. Also, USB is most definitely more precise and calibrates more accurately. Nice to hear that you have a working solution. I was forced to switch to USB about six years ago and I had a major investment in GamePort CH equipment. That was very painful. GamePort simply cannot handle the sophistication of modern day HOTAS equipment.
  4. Thought some of you who, like me, have old Gameport stuff laying around might be interested in this. Here is a little mod I did that brings a CH Products Pro Pedals into the 21st century. Enjoy! USB conversion project
  5. I keep catching myself moving my eyes to see the clock on the wall while keeping my head still.
  6. And the problem was??? I hate it when people do that!
  7. This is the king of the AF sites: http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=73 The default TDC keys for AF are the arrow keys on your keyboard. If yours don't work then you must have somehow redefined them. Go into the input device configuration screen within the game and check what is mapped for the keys. As for moving the TDC, I use the microstick on my throttle. Using an analog device for that is the most precise way to control the cursors. If you have analog commands available then you should use those rather than the keys as you'll get way better precision. I recommend you hang out at Frugals World as that's where all the Falcon4 talk is going on.

  9. I have been off playing (a-hem, another jet sim) and haven't started up FC in a while. This weekend I started up the game and flew a quick A-10 flight. No problem so far. Back at the main menu (where the clock ticks the time away), I decided to look at my hardware setup and clicked "Options." The entire computer froze except the mouse cursor still was active. The clock was stopped and would not respond to any input at all. I ended up having to hard boot and went back into FC. This time I immediately clicked on "Options" and it hung the same way. After reboot, I tried going into the "Encylopedia." Same result. I then realized I had made some changes to my software firewall and it was running. I completely stopped the firewall. Same result. I then gave up with thoughts of completely reinstalling FC except that I became afraid (a good fighter should not be afraid I know but...) because of the "you know what..." Any ideas on this? Thanks -mark
  10. Out of all the joystick mods I've seen, this one really got my heartrate up! You've got to check it out: http://forum.ch-hangar.com/index.php?showtopic=3350 If awards were given out for the "Coolest Flightsim Addons for 2006", the first two finishers would be a slam-dunk: 1. Touch Buddy 2. Franken-Force
  11. Not that I really want to continue this but what does playing a computer game using left-handed controllers have to do with real world militaries? Have you played so long that you have crossed the boundary? Scary people around here.
