Shot down a friendly today. 1 jamming enemy and 1 jamming friendly in close formation, my gate was on the edge of the enemy, so I locked him up, come to find out it was somehow my ally that I locked up. Interesting how that works. Serious disadvantage being unable to IFF during lock. Middle filter seems to be the go-to button. And you lose any other filters you have on as well, except the low altitude filter. It only started to do this in the latest update. Love losing my missiles in peak moments of a dogfight. Its wonderful. Make sure you're close enough and you shouldn't need to launch 2. I'll only launch 2 if he turns back around at me, launching one to make him rethink his decision, and then the second is the kill missile.

well that's the problem. He was jamming so he could have been high or low, or in a complete dive and our radar would be completely clueless of this.

Yes, but what's your ingame name If you dive down a couple hundred meters they tend to magically reappear on the radar, unless they went behind a mountain.

What's your name ingame pal? Very well said. I mean really, its a completely different generation of fighter aircraft. Obviously there are advances in the F-15C. Still, prefer MiG 21 over FC3 simply because I love older russian aircraft. I can't really say so much about this, though, as I never really got into FC3 at all really. The only reason I'm interested in trying FC3 again is to become a better 21 pilot lol. lol that's why you're always decked out in R-60M with the MiG-29. Always found that interesting.

Yes, I was on the server with you yesterday. I was the one who flew into the mountain while I was typing :P and then I blamed you. Been flying with ttaylor(TSquared), think we shot down 4 fighters between us both that day, you should join us. There's more strategy to formation flying. I find it interesting.

Best thing to do is to hit the deck, or if you're too high, bleed the missile's energy with some high g maneuvers. You have to fool it into turning where you're not going to be when it reaches you if that makes sense. If you have a general idea of where the missile is coming from, which you always should, put the missiles behind a mountain and just fly low and reposition. I've never been caught by a Su-27 or an F-15 in the 21, so you should feel comfortable you can outrun him. Sometimes the teams are a bit imbalanced on the 104th. MiG 21 can only effectively pursue one target at a time so that can make it hard when theres 3 targets in front of you. Best thing to do is to ambush. Those 104th guys have my ass quite a lot tbh lol. those damn fire and forget missiles... lol never get tired of the metaphors

So just now I was maneuvering into a kill on another Su-27. Had him on the radar locked but no missile tone. I look at my pylon power and its on so I'm like wtf? Apparently you can maneuver so hard that your missiles fly off too? pretty dumb in my opinion... has anyone else encountered this? @Why485 But still that landing tho.

I say we take the F-86 on 104 next :D Agreed there, although I don't really fly FC3 very often. I've killed more fighters with the 21 than modern fighters :lol: Actually for all my kills, 1/2 of them left the game right after they crashed =/ 15-1? That's pretty impressive. Last few flights I've been getting shot down by SAMS in low altitude and 104th_Highway. Thank you for joining the thread. If not for you I would probably still be 0-66 in the MiG 21 lol.

no point in a BVR missile if the radar isnt BVR

I tried this yesterday with limited success. Seems about as effective as repeatedly clicking the lock button like I've been doing but its deff a cool feature of the radar :D I can imagine it will really come in handy when the targets disappear on you

1024 MB GDDR5 Haven't really thought to overclock it tbh. Should I try 4.5GHz? I dont know a lot about overclocking. Either way I'll have to wait for my new PSU. The PSU I have doesnt even allow me to use my coolermaster fans.

Minimum System Power Requirement only 500W. I was thinking I'd need a 1600W power supply for that Hmm...I could have that for about $400. Also, since the GTX 970 is also so new it won't be on sale, so I can properly wait it out until my GPU dies. Definitely need a new PSU desperately, though.

EDGE 2.0.0 System Requirements I need some help. So, as black friday draws near my power supply died mid flight. Luckily I had a spare power supply sitting around that was extemely cheap. TR2 700W that I'm scared will completely kill my entire PC from what I've read online. Anyway, this got me thinking, what kind of idiot would I look like if I don't upgrade now with a major sale in front of me, and with my video card crashing every once and a while, my power supply a time bomb, my HDD is just sitting on top of my PSU, and everything fails and I'm out $1500, when I can pay $500 now. When 2.0.0 is coming out in december(hopefully) anyway and a GTX 560 Ti just won't cut it anymore. So, friends. What should I get? What will likely handle EDGE with ease? Even though GTX 560 ti is recommended for DCS the performance is...suboptimal Quad Core i5 3570k 3.4GHz 8GB DDR3 Win 7 Ultim 64bit GTX 560 Ti Forgive me if this is the wrong section for this. Don't think it should go in PC Hardware and Related Software. tl;dr recommended EDGE pc specs
