If you’re not making money, you don’t have a product i feel like these 2 posts need more attention: at some point, i fear both ED and we, the customers, may have to face that the only way forward might be to pause on new modules and go with some kind of subscription model. this would allow ED at last to focus on fixing and finishing what's already there. -maybe not the worst thing, considering many people, as they say, buy all modules not to use them but simply to support DCS
-
for me the most important feature missing and mostly anticipated one too, over new terrains let alone new aircraft
-
this applies to browsing using the "all activity" view: as seen in the pic below, it is mostly impossible to determine which module is concerned by looking at the subtitle info, as it ends at "bugs and problems". could this be added as suggested in red please?

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
HILOK replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
very well deserved @Massun92 and if ED takes the step to officially add more high-quality mods to the game, it would greatly enhance the entire DCS ecosystem- 531 replies

hi vishkar, i would recommend looking for a used thrustmaster warthog system on ebay. the dual throttle and stick are good, not the best, but reasonably good for a start and very versatile. i.e. they will present a good, sometimes perfect match, with respect to many aircraft in dcs. the throttle detents can be replaced with inexpensive 3d-printed inlets (also ebay or here on this forum). i would highly recommend a stick extension! the difference is night and day. 7.5cm seems a sweet spot to me. as for flying, it's a matter of training mostly, and also knowledge/technique that you can pick up on youtube very conveniently. the most effective way to get proficient with a certain maneuver from my experience is to train that specific maneuver daily during 10-15min. that works usually better than say 5hours every sunday. have fun
-
that's interesting. could you please elaborate on this? do you mean curve settings in dcs have no effect on ffb sticks? are there any workarounds? thanks
-
oh yes! getting the su-33 that came with SC prompted every time...
-
i think this would be a nice enhancement. according to the manual, buffeting can occur on this AC (not prevented by FBW). didnt see a stick shaker mentioned anywhere, though.
-
i wonder if the real-time-strategy part could be left to modders, and would probably not be so far off using MOOSE? in that case only the aircraft/platform as decribed by the OP would be sufficient
-
all frustration aside, let's not forget one thing: people who purchase or pre-purchase every module basically keep DCS going for people who choose not to.
-
you're very welcome, mate there's also an alternative from rel4y, but i haven't tried it. it comes pre-assembled. don't know about it's dimensions though, debolestis' ones are very tiny and easy to fit.
-
very nice, thanks mate

just in case you weren't aware, debolestis has developed shift registers that mimick the warthog ones, they're basically compatible to all TM compatible stick bases (cougar, realsim, virpil, even virpil collective). i used it for a DIY project. works great. also debolestis is a great, very helpful guy https://oshpark.com/profiles/Debolestis

yep, that's what i am suspecting too. guess i'll just stick to 2.8 till then. thanks for your thoughts!
-
@Droning_On thanks. regarding MT: that's the point, i saw absolutely no gain in fps with MT, no loss either, but some weird latency. hence my apprehension...
-
@Droning_On thanks for your comment i see you have a stronger CPU, also more cores -frankly, i fear my processor might not be able to take advantage of MT, and i am wondering how 2.9 will perform in ST...

Advantages to the Russian style of artificial horizon?
HILOK replied to James DeSouza's topic in Military and Aviation
guess it depends on how you see it or simply what you're used to. the soviet AH lets you steer your aircraft around a seemingly fixed horizon, kinda like an RC plane. i think that western AH are actually more cumbersome, because they require an interpretation: "my horizon is flipping left - i must be turning right". it's just that once you're used to this, it becomes automatic. and that's why we get totally confused when looking at a soviet style AH -
hi all, since i haven't read too many reports from people with weaker pcs, i thought this might be of interest to some of us. personally i run an old overclocked i5-4690k with a 2080ti. after reading some reports i am reluctant to jump to 2.9. (until now i am getting solid 50fps on 4k in the stock instant action hornet/caucasus free flight mission on 2.8.) maybe some of you with similar specs want to share their experience? i think more people would benefit. thanks.

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
HILOK replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
hi @currenthill i highly appreciate your outstanding collection of add-ons to dcs. would you consider making a life raft or floatable pilot? i think a lot of people here, incl. me, would be delighted to see this in SAR missions. could maybe also be useful on servers, where SAR is part of the campaign engine/resource management. thanks -
wasnt aware of this, thanks. and also think these issues should be addressed first, before the map is further enhanced

Transfer steerpoints from the F10 map into the aircraft - DCS: The Way
HILOK replied to Comrade Doge's topic in DCS Modding
just wanted to add, here's an example pointing out that this could also be a thing for modern jets...
