  1. I have the Black Shark 2 and I was just about to purchase the Black Shark 3 thinking for that extra money they've finally managed to embed a Pilot Body... To my bitter disappointment, the pilot's chair remains unoccupied. So as an act of complaint, I will delay the purchase of Black Shark 3 until DCS finally decides to sew in a pilot body in that chair, where I can realistically check down the Map placed on his leg, which enhances the simulation realism instead of constantly clicking a button for a 2D Map over-screen that ruins the moment. Believe it or not, constantly flying in an empty cockpit without visual awareness of the presence of one's own body, could lead to having a negative psychosomatic side effect, like dreaming of being out of control, trapped flying in a pilotless aircraft remotely controlled to crush into the oblivion of somebody else's nightmare... No Hull-Body in the cockpit is like a paralyzed strapped-in pilot snapped with paraplegia, analog to the mental pilot castration of having a Joy-Stick between his legs, but without the balls bearing being able to touch it...
  2. I'm in the process of expanding the drive and need to replace the 1TB SSD with a 4TB. Will the certificates of my modules be affected? What do I have to do beforehand? Many Thanks in Advance
  3. Hey Phantomas - I think you'll have to order this ET 8K eight Headsets ! Thanks goodness he wont need the 12K...
  4. Three weeks ago at the VR Berlin Pimax Roadshow, I tried the new Pimax CRYSTAL HMD. It has 2 x UHD Displays. (< 4K) Pimax might label it as an 8K, but objectively speaking, it has a GPU total performance of a 5K+. Climbing the 4K to 8K Scala should be multiplied by 4. (4x4 and NOT by adding 4+4) IN COMPARISON TO THE 12K Pimax CRYSTAL Display per Eye: 2.880 x 2.880 = 8.294.400 Pixels Total performance: 5.760 x 2.880 = 16.588.800 Pixels < 6K (or 8.294.400 x 2) Pimax 12K Display per Eye: 5.620 x 2.720 = 15.286.400 Pixels Total performance: 11.240 x 2.720 = 30.572.800 Pixels < 8K (or 15.286.400 x 2) I assume when Pimax says CRYSTAL HMD is based on the same Platform as the 12K, that its display tec has the same PPI density, (Pixel Per Inch) but with a 120° FOV instead of 210°. It could be extended though to 140°, but with a PPD loss (Pixel Per Degree); let alone the Hz Refresh Rate topic, when a FPS discussion is required. CRYSTAL has indeed the best clear and crystal view between all other Pimax HMD I have tried before! This is due to its Aspheric lenses instead of the common Fresnel lenses. I flew the F/A-18C Hornet and I could read trouble-free all small details in its display without having to zoom or to lean forward. Therefore, for all Pimax Fans who prefer clarity in favor of FPS and FOV; this is IT! PS. Do not get misguided on the resolution perception subject, by comparing the HMD total resolution 5K, 8K or 12K etc. Always check the characteristics of the one Eye PPI display and its PPD distance watching! Adding the sum of two eyes displays DOES NOT ENHANCE the optical resolution perception, it only extend the 2D FOV in 3D Field Of View. Yet stereo display view does boost the Display brightness and contrast level. In other words: The resolution remains the same, if you are watching a 4K display with one or two eyes, or watching two 4K displays appropriately in stereo with two eyes. Even watching 8 separate displays with 8 separate eyes like our terrestrial spiders does not maximize the 4K resolution perception of them all; IT REMAINS 4K! Only the dimension differs from 2D > 3D. (I’m not sure if by having 4 eyes, like some other alien biological entities out there, it would boost us into the fourth dimension?!) I guess we'll have to ask ET
  5. Do not worry about this alleged 75 million pixels The so-called PIMAX 12K QLED real resolutions performance is in fact less than a real 8K! Pimax data per eye display: 5,620 x 2,720 = 15,286,400 Pixels (> 5k / <5K+) X 2 = 30,572,800 < HUXGA 30,720,000 = HUXGA 33,177,600 = FUHD 35,389,440 = 8K 79,626,240 = 12K PIMAX 12K QLED is: 4,816,640 Pixels less than 8K and 49,053,440 Pixels less than 12K

    Pilot body

The Key-Command "Show Pilot Body" (R-Shift+P) is there but that damn Body never shows up... It's about time a pilot should fill that Cockpit!

    Unreal Engine 5

A very elaborated feedback! Thanks... On the other hand, talking about the CPU 1 core Engine DCS is using: Isn't it about time DCS gets its CPU an extension! With all the modules, assets, mods, etc, it's a miracle and a great achievement how with one core DCS manages to get the job done. I fear soon the DCS One-Piston-Engine will soon crash against the digital sound barrier and won't keep pace with the complexities of the future sixth-generation digital fighters.
  10. How right you are! The normal consumer is being fooled again and again! Starting with how Ultra High Definition been soled as 4K: UHD* = 8.294.400 Million Pixels ...but the real 4K = 8.847.360 Million Pixels (difference = 552.96 MP) Pimax Specs on their own 8K X are: 3840*2160*2 = 8.294.400 MP (*UHD) *2 = 16.588.800 MP and they sell you this as 8K, which is in fact less than the half of 8K! real 8K = 35.389.440 MP! Again the same propaganda for 12K, where the Pimax estimated 18.6 MP per-eye (5.760 x 3.240) *2 = 37.324.800 MP But 12K = 79.626.240 MP So the Pimax 12K is in fact slightly above the real 8K! Running a Benchmark Test for my NVIDIA 2080 Ti with an 8K Gameplay delivers an average of 42 FPS. So we don't have to worry if your GPU (above the 2080 Ti series) can cope with the Pimax's alleged 12K, when it suffices the 8Ks. Everything above the NVIDIA 2080 Ti will handle this Pimax "alleged 12K", (in fact 8K+) with an average of > 44 FPS. I presume the RTX 3090 Ti can reach the 60 FPS. I made the following Excel sheet with all needed Info on Display Resolution from 2K to 16K:

Intriguing stuff indeed! Here's a good Flight Sim News article about the NOR platform. Also Jabbers' Video "WHAT I KNOW ... and don't know | Meta Immersive Synthetics | The NOR Platform Preview" summarises it well.
  12. Any news on the pushback mechanism for parking on deck?
  13. Yeppp, forgot about that... Isn't it about time DCS gets its CPU an extension! With all the modules, assets, mods, etc, it's a miracle how with one core they manage to get the job done. I fear soon the DCS One Piston Engine will soon crash against the digital sound barrier and won't keep pace with the complexities of the future sixth-generation digital fighters.
  14. AMD Ryzen 9_5950X might do the job: Clock frequency: 3,40 GHz CPU Cores: 16 Turbo: 4,90 GHz CPU Threads: 32 ...and as dburne mentioned: By the time Pimax 12k headset comes out probably there will be at least 24 Cores CPU's.

...just due to the fact UE has been neglecting VR support, I've already put this thing on ice... Nevertheless LucShep Link is worth to see!

    Unreal Engine 5

Wooo, that's definitely bad news! Didn't know that. Neglecting VR support is a wrong policy. Seems like I have to withdraw my UE5 recommendation to the bench until they reconsider focusing on VR. Till then, to be held on standby...
  17. Well I guess my CPU Intel-i9-9900K and GPU RTX-2080Ti are too humble to cope with that... I think I'll be needing a brand new High-End PC to shake hands with this Pimax innovation! Question: Can the current NVIDEA RTX 3090 handle the 12K @ 200Hz?

If an IT programmer is lektionning, I will advocate for more pragmatically applied evidence to back up these arguments, otherwise we're just keep on randomally stalling in love of contradiction, because that's the name of the game: a trolling redundant mechanism in the system for the sole purpose of own self-preservation...

If that's a Prophecy, I won't say amen to that because I'm confident ED is evolving in the best interest to make DCS a better place for flying... So it's not about guessing if the Oracle will overdue the Matrix, but shier if UE5 keeps what it is promising for.

Talking about car parts is a bad comparison when setting Hardware and Software alterations properties in the same Workshop for facelifting. To some extent, I agree that building something new is better than trying to refurbish and update a whole system, expanding it to a wider more sophisticated level... As to what is feasible or not - I used to do the repairing of most car parts myself, but I am not a mechanic by profession as much as I am no IT expert too. But, I worked with developers in programming my own game invention, therefore I know exactly where the problem areas are. Instead of a YouTube Video Link, I ought to have linked it directly to the Unreal Engine 5 Site. If the Nanite theme which streams and processes only the detail you can perceive, largely removing poly count and draw call constraints, and eliminating time-consuming work like baking details to normal maps - is exaggerated - time will tell... Quoting Unreal Engine 5 build "is for game developers who like to live on the bleeding edge to start testing features and prototyping their next games" is a tool for developers yet to be tested and checked how far embedding it is compatible with the DCS Engine... Finally, the ED IT department is the one who calls the shots and makes the right decisions in the interest of DCS.

    Unreal Engine 5

For those who do have less knowledge in real time rendering: embedding Unreal Engine 5 in the DCS engine means higher setting in display resolution, which is essential for an 8K-VR AND at the same time more gain in FPS! With my high PC-Specs I still get between 30-40 FPS in my Pimax 4K, because without having a high resolution setting, you can merely depict any target on the ground from far distance. Pimax has just annouced a 12K-VR for next year. To get the most out of it, DCS Engine will surely need that upgrade...
