  1. I had a similar problem when setting up my joystick. I found Pilgrims solution worked best for me. I also found that 100% of the time for me when a button didn't do what it was supposed to according to my X-45 set up it was a conflict between LO joystick assignments and my joystick. LO tries to set up your joystick for you. Don't let it. Just leave the basic axes intact and delete the others. Then you can set it up to your own preferences. If LO and your joystick both have a funciton set then you will get a conflict.
  2. Hard to tell. It was a night flight. Maybe next time I'll light a match to see better. :D
  3. @Cali I wasn't saying that this ruined Lock On for me. I just tend to be the inquisitive type. I'm the kind of person who buys an ATR 72-500 add on airplane for MSFS specifically because it has an 800 page manual. :) @Iron Legionnaire That's the tutorial. It also happened about the same time I was setting up my joystick and got my throttle working only on one engine. I didn't think the sim would be modeled that realistically but you never know. @Dice & Striker Thanks for the info. I love to hear from the people who do this stuff for real. I wasn't seeing any indication of compressor RPM or hearing them spooling up until long after the fuel flow guage showed fuel was flowing to the engines. Only RL experience with aircraft I have is with Cessnas but I do have some sim aircraft with realistic engine start. On the Dodosim Realstart Jetranger I have to engage the starter and watch the gas producer RPM until I get 15% then open the throttle and keep holding the starter until 58% N1. Didn't know the A-10 was automated. One of these days the ground crew will push a button on the side of the airplane that says, "FIGHT" and then everyone will go out for a beer. :icon_jook
  4. Probably a little nitpicky but I noticed on start up in the A-10 that the first indication of a start is fuel flow. I don't know about A-10s but in most jets you don't add fuel until N1 reaches a certain speed (different for different engines but around (10-20%). introducing fuel too soon can cause a hot start. Reason I mention this is because one of the traning videos talks about hot starts. Is this realistic to have fuel flow before Gas generator turbine spools up? First time I saw this I expected a hot start and a major repair bill for my A-10. Although I guess I could just let the Air Force pay for it. :)
  5. Grass runways? Hey think I can fit some CBUs on this: j/k :D:D
  6. Hope your the boss at work or know him real well. Most places I've worked you'd get canned if you did that. :D I had a manual for the ATR 72-500 add on for MSFS that ran over 800 pages. The cost of printer cartridges was more than the actual add on airplane it'self so I had it printed at Office Max for about $10.
  7. Also make sure LO doesn't have it mapped to something else. I'm setting up my X-45 and found that at the source of most of my problems. Select the X-45 in the LO Options/Input section and see if LO has something mapped to that button. If so delete that and set up your profile for the joystick. Problem I ran into was with the throttle mapping. LO had my throttle mapped to the right engine only. Made for some interesting flying with only one engine. I went through everything I could think of including an uninstall-reinstall of the sim. Finally found out it was the default settings in the input section.
  8. Cool, just learned something. Thanks.
  9. I'd love DSL but we can't get it where I live. My ISP offers it but we live more than 5 miles from the office so attenuation drags connection speed down to about what I'm getting with dial up. We live way out in the boonies. They call the internet the "Information Super Highway". Well, in that case I live on a dirt road. I've checked into satellite but that's one way and very expensive. OK for downloads if you can afford it but not for MP games.
  10. That would explain it. Just noticed last night that I have a HUD in the "T". I thought it was a bug in LO. I do however see a piece of glass and a projector that looks like a HUD system. Does the RL SU-25 have a HUD and it just isn't modeled in the sim or am I mis-identifying the equipment I'm seeing?
  11. Sorry to hyjack the thread but I have a quick question. How is Lock On in multiplayer for dial up users? I've flown Jane's F-15 and DID's F-22 and Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 in multiplayer but Lock On seems a little more resource heavy. Is it playable online with a dial up?
  12. Here's a nice free utility to shut down background programs. It allows you to pick which to shut down and even has a limited suggestion function to tell you what to shut down and what not to shut down. when you are done flying it restarts everything returning your computer back to where it was before. It was made for Microsoft Flight Simulator but the latest version lets you pick the application you want to run so it can be used with Lock On. It even allows you to set up profiles so you can use for more than one program. http://www.kensalter.com/fsautostart/ Edit: It's donation ware so if you like it please consider a donation to the author. Ken does a lot of work keeping this utility available and updated all on his own time and expense.
  13. I did RTFM. Tried Shift+L and I can see the other systems go on/off on the lower right panel but the HUD stays unlit. Only does it when I use the quick combat or a scenario I build with the Editor. Demonstration flights has a working HUD as well as all other aircraft. I wonder if there's a setting specific to the SU-25 HUD.
  14. How do you turn on the HUD in the SU-25? Whenever I load that airplane the HUD is off. Nothing seems to work to get it lit up. The Demo flight "Colum Hunter" has a working HUD and when I take over control on that flight the HUD is lit but not when I load the airplane from the mission editor or quick combat flights.
