  1. I'll start by saying we are definitely appreciative that we even have a dedicated server. The old method was a pain in the butt and resource intensive. Thank you for the time and effort that you've put into it. Taking away features because of walk on filesystem makes sense. Why not take advantage of Windows permissions? Give us the ability to give a RO account access to certain folders and call it good? Now we're jumping a little bit into hypothetical. A script living inside the defined locations still has the ability access everything that user has access to. Just because you can't see the D: drive through the web interface, doesn't mean it doesn't have access to it through Windows permissions. Hence security through obscurity. This can be seen with the serverSettings.lua. I defined the D: drive and can access the files. I just can't browse the files.
  2. Yup, I agree. Security through obscurity is not security in terms of a web app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for that information for the log. Didn't notice that change. On the second part, you are incorrect. You can run the missions from wherever still by editing the serverSettings.lua. The change is just forcing your hand to go to the saved games folder. Honestly, this is just a lazy way do file browsing because of complaints people may have. Have selections on the left side of the browser that act as a quick access to the saved games relative path rather than force, only option. ED, please put it back the way it was. I do not want to run the missions folder on the server C drive.
  4. I looked over the last few pages, but not seeing anyone else with the problem. New bug: I cannot go to different drive's via the built in file browser anymore. We have our install on the D: drive of our server as well as the missions folder. When I go to try to browse back to the D: drive, I am forced only to the saved games folders - which is located on the C: drive. We only noticed the change with the most recent beta update. The current work around is editing the serverSettings.lua file.
  5. I don't think you understood my post. I understand 8088 or whatever other designated port I so choose needs to be opened up to the web for the ED site. I was asking for information so I could restrict it to ED site IP range so I don't have to worry about some script kiddy messing with my dedicated server. :)
  6. I've looked through the thread and can't find an answer thus far. Does anyone know the IP range to the DCS centralized servers? I would like to allow the remote management feature of our server with minimal security risk. I personally don't feel 100% comfortable with 8088, secondary, to the n-th range of ports being opened to the entire world.
  7. I currently have the Saitek combat pro pedals and enjoy them. One thing I would suggest if you don't like nodding or adding wood, would be to take the toe plates and put them on the back. I don't know if they come with screws from the factory, but simple 1 inch wood screws (home depot or lowes in the US) work perfect for keeping the plates attached to the rudders. This would be similar to the wood blocks seen in the previous pictures. If you don't secure the plates to the pedals, the plates will pop off during a flight and drive you nuts. If you can fork the money, go with the crosswinds. Saitek combat pros would be second choice and the CH pro pedals as a nice set of budget pedals. There are others comparable to the crosswinds, but I would say do a lot of research before setting your heart on anything other.
  8. It seems pretty serious to me. The question does make sense as timezone was not mentioned on release date. Will it be an incremental release per timezone? Will it be a release when Thursday reaches the right of the international date line (Alaska, etc)? Or what general timezone will it be released?
  9. So he's been given the warning.. what's the path? It's simple as that rather than arguing and belittling people. Side note: I am happy where it's at, but I do notice a lot of this back and forth for simple stuff on the forums. If he wants to try it and find out the hard way, let him find it out.
  10. I'd prefer the AH-1Z vs the W, but W if need be.
  11. My preference in order JHMCS AIM-9X NVG CFT Before I see someone say NVGs aren't used on the F-15C, go read AFI11-2F-15v3 para 3.21
  12. What is it with people saying JHMCS is not on the F15C. It is. Do your research before saying wrong aircraft. That's a wiki linked article, but before you start biting my head off about it, just watch this video Immediately before clicking the button to play the video, you will see that the pilot is wearing a JHMCS equipped helmet. Also at about 55 seconds and throughout you can see that there is another view of a helmet equipped with it. And last but not least, Boeing talks about it being equipped on their trainers http://www.boeing.com/boeing/defense-space/support/training/commercial/jhmcs.page Sooooo, +1 to JHMCS for the F-15C.
  13. It would be hard to have a layout for all planes saying the only auto config for the warthog is just the A10C. Everything else you would need to setup on your own.
  14. From what I've seen on the forums thus far, motorcycle steering dampers have been the most popular option. Here's this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123727&highlight=Damper And this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=118651&highlight=Damper&page=3 Same thread as the last one, but with pictures: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2033066&postcount=116
  15. According to this link: http://store.gameshark.net/Pro_Flight_Combat_Rudder_Pedals/4909/173?scid=saiteksite which is a direct link from the Saitek website, it's £179.99, but out of stock. I think they may be shutting down the pro combat rudder line. I could only find two separate listings on Amazon for them, one at $448.47 and another at $370.94.
  16. I do not have a touchscreen second monitor, but I am currently running a 29" wide screen primary and 23" secondary. I'm running helios on my second monitor using a modified version of Loz' profile. Using mouse inputs I can see that it's ideally setup for a touchscreen. All switches are click and drag and rotaries are click and turn. Based on this setup and functions used on modern tablets and smart phones, I would imagine it works about the same. Everyone I know running a touchscreen in DCS are running helios. Look for Loz 2.1 helios profile.
  17. Since the 3rd parties are "endorsed" by DCS" why not give them a dedicated home separate from the general public threads to provide their announcements on updates? I am one that gets tired of seeing the all the 3rd party developer threads always with new posts with general conversation and rarely with any updates from the developers themselves. I want to know the updates from the developers themselves. So what I propose is a "3rd party News" forum placed at the top of the forum between community news and official updates. The forum would have special permissions set to it to allow only the poster and forum administrators to reply. The only people allowed to create a thread would be people with 3rd party permissions as in the developers. Shouldn't be too hard to make and I'm sure other people would like to see something similar.
  18. 1.2.8 drove me nuts having to reprogram all my switches. Lucky for me it was not 124, I only had to deal with 24 switches. The combo commands is what I use, then I use JSGME with my configured default.lua saved so I don't have to worry about future overwrites. Like I said in my previous post, the combo command works for my two way(SPST) (On-OFF) and three way(SPDT) (On-OFF-On) switches. I have other combo commands used for the other switches such as the AHCP and Fuel Panel.
  19. To piggy back off of flyco, the test position on the three way inverter switch is a momentary toggle. So I switch it that position, release my finger and it returns to center. To give you an idea, this is my default.lua combo addition added directly to the file. My file is located at my custom directory of I:\DCS\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Input\A-10C\joystick\default.lua Combos seems to work best rather than changing the regular commands in case I want to use my mouse for some odd reason, say I have a short on my switch box and I just don't use it for a flight. Electrical Panel: {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN21'}} , down = iCommandAPUGeneratorPower , up = iCommandAPUGeneratorPower , name = 'APU generator power' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN24'}} , down = iCommandEmergencyFlood , up = iCommandEmergencyFlood , name = 'Emergency Flood' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN20'}} , down = iCommandBatteryPower , up = iCommandBatteryPower , name = 'Battery power' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN22'}} , down = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterSTBY , up = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterOFF , name = 'Inverter STBY' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN23'}} , down = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterTEST , up = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterOFF , name = 'Inverter Test' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN18'}} , down = iCommandPowerGeneratorLeft , up = iCommandPowerGeneratorLeft , name = 'AC generator power left' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN19'}} , down = iCommandPowerGeneratorRight , up = iCommandPowerGeneratorRight , name = 'AC generator power right' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; As stated in a different thread the switches I use are: APU Generator, Emergency Flood, Battery Power, and AC Gens left and right are each on their own SPST (On-Off) switch. Inverter STBY, TEST, and Off are on a single SPDT (On-Off-On) switch. EDIT: Sniped on the first two sentences. :)
  20. Now that I'm back at my computer, I have a chance to add the code in there. Electrical Panel: {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN21'}} , down = iCommandAPUGeneratorPower , up = iCommandAPUGeneratorPower , name = 'APU generator power' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN24'}} , down = iCommandEmergencyFlood , up = iCommandEmergencyFlood , name = 'Emergency Flood' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN20'}} , down = iCommandBatteryPower , up = iCommandBatteryPower , name = 'Battery power' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN22'}} , down = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterSTBY , up = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterOFF , name = 'Inverter STBY' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN23'}} , down = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterTEST , up = iCommandElectricalPowerInverterOFF , name = 'Inverter Test' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN18'}} , down = iCommandPowerGeneratorLeft , up = iCommandPowerGeneratorLeft , name = 'AC generator power left' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; {combos = {{key = 'JOY_BTN19'}} , down = iCommandPowerGeneratorRight , up = iCommandPowerGeneratorRight , name = 'AC generator power right' , category = 'Electrical power control panel'}; APU Generator, Emergency Flood, Battery Power, and AC Gens left and right are each on their own SPST (On-Off) switch. Inverter STBY, TEST, and Off are on a single SPDT (On-Off-On) switch. Is this what you're looking for Dudester? Like in my previous disclaimer, you have to be self-conscious of your switch positions when exiting the simulator. Easiest way to ensure this is to make do a shutdown on the ramp after landing. If you forgot to and you are OCD about it, you can click on the switch in the pit to match that of your physical switches.
  21. No offense Davis, but I think you need to calm down and read that post again. What Wags post it is referring to, from the way I read it, is that the Eagle and Flanker will be released with a AFM for each. F15C was technically release March 8th according to this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122751 So therefore, that post alone partially negates your post of: Could very well be that they currently are not working on it; however, the post does say at a future date they will further develop it. So unless you are an ED representative, I would suggest refraining from speaking in absolutes without proper documentation. SDsc0rch was asking if they're planning on it and simple response using the following post would be yes: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1749105&postcount=1 . I am not holding my breath on a clickable pit release anytime this year. It'll probably be a couple more years until we see it, kinda like EDGE. :)
  22. Isn't most of this eliminated with LUA programming of the default keys LUA? Now the disclaimer is for the keys that are "on/off" with one command, you have to be self-conscious of what state your switch is to what it should be in the sim when you hop in the pit. Currently I have my switches programmed as a combo setting in the LUA file. So in my case I use the GP-Wiz 40. I have switch 1, which is a SPST switch, with the hot terminal plugged into A on the board and the ground to the common ground port. Now say I have this programmed for the APU. In the combo setting of the LUA I have the pressed state being the "on" feature and the up state being the off. I do believe the APU has two different commands, one for the on setting, and one for the off. Unfortunately, I'm not near my computer currently to show an example if needed. Hope I didn't muck up the waters on this one.
  23. I definitely would love to have some more information on this seat. I saw this and immediately thought "I want one." I won't be able to make one anytime soon, but it is definitely something I would build in the future. So I also would like to have as much information as you're willing to provide. Have you also thought about maybe adding the information to Tigersharks and Devon Custards wiki? Here's the link: http://www.deadfrogstudios.com/warthogpit I know they're trying to get everything under the sun for cockpits in one place so people don't have to sift through pages upon pages of replies to find information on how to build something. Just an idea :).
  24. I PMed Warhog and got some interesting information from him. He talked about Leo Bodnar boards and rotaries through him(Leo). Just seems a little bit on the more expensive side. I do like that it is plug and play with software provided. I've also been reading stuff about Arduino boards.. I found a US based site that had a bunch of Arduino based boards and some rotary encoders - http://www.adafruit.com - any suggestions on this? After reading a few posts on this, I'm looking at possibly building a caution panel next. I'd like to hear others input before making a commitment to making a radio panel. I'd also like to see some of this information provided go into Tigersharks wiki. :). So please post information. Please provide structured feedback too :)
