  1. Vinnie, thanks for the reply. I did that but when I flew the Spit, it sounded like normal which led me to suspect that I had done something wrong with setting up Diveplanes mod in JSGME and the mod was not kicking in.
  2. Hi Ebs. Trying to set up JSGME in DCSW. Thanks for your guide. I get most of it but where I am falling down is item 7/ "Go to your new DCS World/_MODS folder. Make a new folder called "Female Wingman" and within that recreate the EXACT structure of the folders... DCS World/_MODS/Female Wingman/Sounds/Speech/Sound/ENG/Common/Wingman/ and extract the female wingman mod to this directory. Your mod is now ready for use." I want to install Diveplanes Spitfire sound mod and I have installed JSGME OK and created a _MODS folder in DCS, I don't understand what you mean by recreating to EXACT structure of the folders ? For Diveplanes mod, can you clarify what the file path should be and the folder structure with an illustration ? Sorry for being a numpty but I am quite new to all this so just need a little help from the expert ! Thanks. Buster.
  3. I agree, I am having a hard time believing the Mk9 Spit is like this in real life, its pretty much unflyable for me, I just hope this is all sorted for final release. Totally ruins the enjoyment of it. A2A got it right !
  4. A bit of a problem with the Spit in FREEFLIGHT. When the plane loads it immediately shudders for a second then goes into a flat spin that you cant get out of !? Secondly, since the last update, my keyboard ESC key does not work, the only way out is CTRL - ALT - DEL into task manager. Anybody else have these 2 problems ? Is this Spitfire the finished product ?
  5. Great stuff, thanks guys for your input on this.
  6. Thanks Art-j, in FSX that was called "locked spot view" I would love to know the key assignment for that, can anyone else help on this ?
  7. Enjoying this new Spitfire and got most things figured out. As an old FSX and P3D merchant I would like to be able select a view of the plane from the ground, in FSX it was called "tower view" and it was great for that "airshow aerobatics" experience, just like flying a RC plane. There is a bewildering amount of view choices in the controls section, which one would I choose to get close to the tower view i'm after ?
  8. Thanks Razo, I will give that a try. To be clear, I have not made a manual effort to update to 1.5 stable version. I have "Autoupdate" enabled so I assumed I was all up to date with the occasional updates that appear when I launch the game, am I correct ?
  9. I think so, it automatically updates when I launch it. Would V1.5 be included in updates ?
  10. That's what I thought also, searched the module manager last night, no Spit in there !
  11. I bought the Spit while it was on special offer and downloaded it OK just after release. I am having all sorts of problems with it so thinking I had a corrupt download I deleted it. I cant find where to re download it in my account ! Can anyone advise ? Thanks.
  12. JOYSTICK CONTROL ASSIGNMENT Thanks Sokol1, just downloaded it, a quick browse of the "Read me" it looks like I can assign as many as 10 mappings or more to one button, this is ideal for DCS with soooo many views, saves stretching for the keyboard ! Art-J and Sokol1, you guys have made my day, thank you for being so helpful, love this community !
  13. Thanks Sokol1 for the input. Looks like your familiar with the CH Combat stick ! You guessed right on the toggle views thing, in FSX you can toggle through the views available with one button, I do have CH control manager software ( never used it ) but will look into using it to select views and assign to one button if possible, I only want, cockpit, outside and fly-by views anyway. What is Joy2key ?
  14. Art-J, thanks for that, I think you just hit the nail ! I will have another go tonight as I wasn't clearing the chosen stock assignment, the "ADD" button was not lit on most of what I wanted to change so it was throwing me off. I will try clearing and re assigning my buttons later. Is there a way to calibrate a stick in DCS something like the way its done in FSX ?
  15. Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. Not looking for advice on how to fly the Spit, I have been flying the A2A Spit for years, once I am happy that my stick is set up properly, it wont take me long to master the DCS Spit, been watching the videos ! ( A Mk9 is a bit more unwieldy than a Mk1 ) I am more interested in stick calibration and control assignments. I hope there is a solution as I have zero tolerance for keyboard flying !
  16. Greetings. Looking for some advice on controller assignments. I've had DCSW for years but not bothered with it much as I was not really interested in the modules on offer, now the Spitfire is here and the Normandy map coming, all that has changed, the Spit is in my hangar. So, really I am quite new to the DCS experience. I have been a heavy user of FSX and more recently P3D for some 10 years and I am used to having all the essential flight functions assigned to a USB CH 568 Combat stick that has 18 programmable buttons so no problem flying with all basic functions available to thumb & finger. Spend an hour or so last night trying to set up my stick in the Spitfire controller section FSX / P3D style but only the throttle, ailron, elevator, pitch axis and POV hat switch are working. DCS recognises the stick in the control section but it wont let me assign more functions to it. In any flight sim or combat game I would expect to be able to, this is basic essentials ! The functions I want on the stick are; Gear up / down Flaps up / down Elevator trim up / down Rudder trim left / right Toggle views ( like FSX ) Brakes Gun / cannon fire I have tried a few take offs but crash out of control, I suspect because my stick is not properly calibrated in DCS, how is this done ? I have browsed the manuals but couldn't find any info. Iv'e just remembered about the CH control manager software, will this work in DCS ? Anyone else have this problem that can advise on the matter ? Thanks.
  17. Where can I find the manual for the Spit ? nothing in the "downloads" section.
  18. Thanks again. I am very fussy about system clutter, I have tons of disk space and I don't mind starting from scratch with controller / graphics settings etc. I find Steam a pain in the butt to be honest and I would rather clean DCSW out and start fresh with the ED version.
  19. RedShoes, thanks for the info. If I note my aircraft module keys, could I simply uninstall and delete all Steam DCS files, re-download from ED using the installer then re download and install my plane modules ?
  20. RedShoes. I am also a Steam user, how does one convert from Steam to native installation ?
  21. To be honest, iv'e had DCSW for so long now I cant remember if I got as a stand alone or through Steam but thanks for your input Gierasimov, I will look into it over the weekend and try to figure out if in fact I have two versions installed ! The fact that it is in my Steam inventory and I only have one DCSW desktop icon suggests that I only have one and got it through Steam. Also, I have not played it for years and I am very much out of touch with these issues, I just keep it up to date patiently waiting for the Spitfire and WW2 Normandy. So, I rely on the expertise of you guys on here for help in these matters. Thanks to all.
  22. Just looking for some clarification on DCSW updates. When I launch DCSW it automatically checks for updates and if one is available it downloads and I let it do its thing. Now if I go Steam, it will also show an update available and it installs it, I have been wondering if this update on Steam is the same one ? What happens if indeed they are the same, does the Steam update simply overwrite the DCSW update ? or are two files for everything created ? Are both updates necessary ? Personally, I am not interested in the Nevada test range map update, sorry but not my cup of tea, can I prevent this installing and using up HD space ?
  23. Thanks guys, it seems that F1, F2 and F3 will do the job but I want to control views from the controller not the keyboard. For FSX use I toggle through my views with one button on the stick. Can I configure DCSW to do the same ?Which "view" option would I choose to accomplish this ?
  24. Wow, 68 views and no reply !! Can someone help me out here ? Cheers. Buster.
