ok the way he worded it though suggested to me 'if you have cards with a low amount of VRAM total' not 'a low amount of free VRAM'. makes sense that it would be an issue if the VRAM fills completely up though regardless of amount

I get that issue on a 4080Super with 16Gb of VRAM - I hope that's not considered 'low'. I don't seem to get it every time I leave the F-10 map either. It happens sometimes, and not others.

No idea if this helps, but I just loaded up Pretense Syria in the mission editor and sat in both the Huey and the Apache on the ramp at Hussein. I could swap back and force between F10 and F1 no issues in the Huey. I did have issues in the Apache. So maybe it's module specific? However I also noticed that I'm basically using all my 32Gb of RAM, all of the time. I'm using most of the 16Gb of VRAM on my 4080Super, but that doesn't seem to max out. RAM usage didn't seem to change moving in and out of F10, though GPU load did. So is 32Gb simply not enough? It never seemed as bad as it sometimes is when I play the same mission online with a couple of friends.

Interesting. We pretty much mostly have been playing Pretense, which has a lot of labels etc added to the F-10 map. I'll see If I notice a difference in behaviour between Pretense Syria and a different Syria mission without all that extra text. Though given how much else is going on in Pretense I'm not sure if that's exactly a fair test.

Do we need to report this anywhere where it might get some ED attention? Ahh there seems to be some more discussion here

I'm running a 4080Super and 32Gb of DDR4 and I get this issue all the time. I only play in VR and it's so annoying having to often wait for up to a minute for my FPS to stabilise when coming out of the F10 before I can even do anything.

Hey We've been trying Pretense for a couple of weeks on our own server and it's awesome! But we can't seem to use the cmd tokens. Every time we try we get a 'there are no valid targets' message. We've tried using it in the air, or on the ground at a friendly zone, but nothing. Are we doing something stupid?

Yeah hopefully Vulkan etc. will help this year. Part of the issue is simply how many combinations of things there are to tweak. Trying to find the right combination is a fair bit of effort

Next update - swapped my 12600KF i5 out for a 14700KF i7. My 3DMark scores have gone up, but doesn't seem to have made much of a difference in DCS. Have turned QVF and gone back to the FVF in OpenXR Toolkit - it feels like it performs better like that (though I wasn't using the default QVF settings so could go back to those and see). If I want to fly more complex modules like the Apache at the graphics setting I want to make the game look decent, I have to either use ASW 45/90 (which actually looks really bad in the Apache with the rotor blades and shadow) or use DLAA and target 72FPS. DLSS gives a lot more headroom but looks too blurry for me. Honestly feels like everything is a compromise, unless you're running a 4090 and an 7950X3D. I guess I'll stick with how things are now until the 5090 comes out, then build a new system at that point.

I'm using VD with my Q3. I find the quality just as good and it's nice to have no cable. If I start to run low on charge I plug in a power bank. You can also get battery straps too if you like. I put a WiFi6 access point in my games room so it connects at 2.5gbps and don't notice any latency.

When I first took the 4080S out of the box I had a minor panic attack that it wasn't going to fit I'm now eyeing up 7950X3D builds. But I'd need mobo and ram, so instead of a £380 purchase for the 14700, it'll be like £1250. Eeeeek!

I went for the 4080 Super as I could get a Founders Edition at MSRP and could spend the difference on other upgrades. Then when the 5090 comes out, I'd go full bore at that point

I used process lasso to do the same thing. Didn't seem to make any difference in terms of performance though.

Hmm I was trying to avoid having to go down the route of replacing everything. A 14700 would drop right in. But if that's going to make little difference....
