  1. Hello community, I was on a campaign mission another day and got a bit too relaxed and got a SAM up my tailpipe. Lost both hydraulic systems, right wing and right tail stabilizer got torn off, lost right generator, almost all of the avionics except hars, but both engines kept going and I've managed to make it back to Batumi. But as I was on final approach, when dropped my landing gear I lost all remaining hydro pressure and had to switch to manual reversion. That made the AC roll right at a very fast rate and I just cut off the left engine as a last resort, which made my level off a bit... When I dropped my gear, I didn't notice the wheels were actually missing from the gear assemblies. :) Anyways, I missed the runway and bellied through the taxiway, stopping at the far end of the runway near the helipads. Now, questions: 1. Is it even possible to land the AC without differential throttles? I use the X52 Pro but I guess the only way to land it is to use the TM Warthog TQS for such an emergency. 2. How would I go about a "no-wheels" landing? Is it actually better to have the struts inside the gear gondolas and not deploy them then?
  2. Nice landing, David. Also got the sim two weeks ago and the first thing I did after a couple of VFR flights is land the damn thing in the rain and fog. Even managed to do it on the first try using ILS. Cheers,
  3. 7730M - так себе GPU. Да и процы мобильные не шибко дают разгуляться.
  4. How come you "won't use rudder that much"? I use rudder all the time to make minute adjustments when using the GAU-8 and establishing crab angle during crosswind landings. Granted, I use X52 Pro handle twist, as I haven't yet invested in new pedals. (I've got a 15 year old Thrustmaster RCS with broken spring lying in the attic but meh, I don't think it's worth fixing)
  5. Just pop the RAM lid open and check out what's inside. It shouldn't affect the warranty or even have a warranty sticker on it, I think. :)
  6. I've started a campaign without CA and managed to complete the mission successfully, though it took quite a lot of time for friendlies to reach the points. (time acceleration for the win). I guess there should be some sort of warning if Combined Arms is not installed or DCS World should prevent the start-up of the CA campaign altogether. It is also unclear on what frequency to contact the forces, I guess it's just a hardcoded "universal command" of some sort at the moment as I had my radio switch doohicky whatsitcalledargh set to Intercom and still managed to send the M1's rolling. :)
  7. So, there's no way to complete those unless you get CA, then, I guess. Oh well, time to get CA. :)
  8. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. From the sound of it, your profile probably suits me more than the others lying around.
  9. Sometimes, the laptop has 2x2Gb sticks in it and no empty slots to add memory, so they have to be swapped out for 2x4Gb sticks. Make sure you have a free RAM slot by unscrewing the RAM panel (should be marked) and looking inside. You may have to get 2x4Gb sticks rather than one.
  10. Thanks Sven, I'll give it a spin! And I have yet to order a TrackIR as well. :) Hopefully in a couple of weeks.
  11. I believe Laptop RAM upgrades aren't that pricey nowadays, or are they? I belive they are if you're using outdated DDR-2 ram which somehow costs up to 2.5 times more than the modern DDR-3 RAM.
  12. Can I give your profile a spin, Sven? Where can I get it? I got my X52 Pro only a couple of weeks ago, still looking how to best employ the shift-state button! :)
  13. I suggest you actually start saving for some peripherals then? Like the pedals, if you haven't got them. Also, you may want to look into MicroATX desktop systems. They are really quite compact and "semi-portable" but can mount a decent motherboard with a decent GPU or even an SLI/Crossfire setup if needed. You will probably be able to move it without problems, the only concern here is the Display which will be harder to ship from place to place.
  14. It is a bit offtopic, I know, but I don't use the mini-mouse for the mouse cursor, I use it for slewing and it works like a champ. :)
  15. Greetings, fellow pilots, Trying to do my best to defend Georgia from the damn russkies, I've encountered a snag. I got a mission with the objective to support the advance of Pike and Maple to objective points Dakota and Nevada. Got all the frequencies tuned in, taking off, getting to the target area, contacting JTAC and carrying out the strikes that he pinpoints. Rinse and repeat with the second JTAC. I actually went through and wiped out everything in the vicinity, including the trucks and arty. But I don't get the "mission complete" message. Now, that got me thinking. The units should probably move in to the designated objective points (dakota, nevada). When I'm ingressing, there is a message that "Pike is ready" or something along those lines. I've tried to raise those guys via F10 on every radio, but no dice. :((( They just stay in the city and don't move even when I kill all the enemy tanks in the area. How should I go about contacting them? There isn't any specific frequency assigned to them, only the JTAC's at 40 and 30 mhz VHF FM and allied flights at 251 UHF AM. Any pointers? :) NATO's loosing their war effort here! :)
  16. The GPU is the obvious bottleneck here, I would actually start saving for a desktop PC if I were you. The laptops aren't really designed for that kind of thing. :)
  17. Don't forget to extend your director needless as well. They're stowed by default...
  18. I wasn't even getting into it, it just found me by surprise and I just had to try it. I guess trying it on purpose would have dire consequences. :)
  19. At least it was an F-15 kill. :) I don't really expect an F-15 kill any time soon. :D
  20. Very helpful, guys, thanks a lot!
  21. Also, from my limited experience, you cannot really outrun anything except helicopters. Not even an Su-25 as being pointed out above, though I don't think the Su-25 is supersonic...
  22. Not when it's 40USD per bottle :))) Anyways, it's a great community, thanks for all your support guys! Happy to be part of it!
  23. Thanks, I just felt like sharing the experience! Hope it's not too illiterate as I'm not exactly english-speaking. :-) Should I feel bad for being a virtual american pilot when I'm 100% russian? Well, I don't. :-) Off to reading the manual and tutorials, they surely are also well suited for bedtime reading. :)
  24. I managed to score my first aerial kill in the campain. An Su-25T. You can not imagine the exhiliration! I was going NUTS! Even made a forum post about it. Haven't had so much fun since my Warbirds days in 2000-2001. :) Great to know I'm not the only one having so much fun. The feeling of accomplishment this sim gives you is mind blowing. Drop me a PM if you ever need a wingman, I'll probably start trying out multiplayer sometime soon, flying a mission in formation with a real pilot should make for a whole new experience! :)
  25. I am a noob as well, but to get TVV, you need to make sure the INS/EGI is working. Make sure you have CDU and EGI powered up on the AAP panel below the CDU. You then have to wait for the CDU to align and display 4 0 0 8. That's it's maximum calibration precision, so to say. Then switch the CDU to NAV mode by pressing the switch next to NAV (right row). Switch from HARS to EGI mode as pointed out by EtherealN. Then turn on EAC on the LASTE control panel which is just below the left throttle lever. The EAC and NAV lights on the malfunction panel should go out.
