  1. Nevermind All, seems that disabling Kaspersky AV magically allows the auto-updater to work. Not confidence inspiring, but a fix I suppose. rgds Brewber.
  2. Hi Anyone, - DCS tries to auto-update itself (fine) - DCS AD validates local files (fine) - DCS AD starts to download, gets to 5% or whatever, then hash mismatch Happens every time. Anyone got any ideas how to resolve, or am I stuck? Had the same issue with 1.2.1 in the end, though the first few updates in 1.2.1 when fine. Thanks in advance, Brewber.
  3. patches for me. with my whopping 2mbit connection theres no way I can be arsed to dl full installs each time
  4. Would be cool if positive rep points could be used like "loyalty" points for ED products...which may have the positive effect of people helping each other more, to earn loyalty points etc - then they'd have some "point", Just an idea.
  5. Nice one guys. I have a Trex 600n Pro and JR Vigor 90 - superb fun, though a bit pricey when they hit the ground!
  6. You've fundamentally misunderstood the nature of the business & specifically this genre of product. Even in general terms... 1. You charge high for the first XYZ time period, to sweep up the "early adopters" and get their revenue (e.g. paid BETA). In marketing terms - INTRODUCTION 2. You acknowledge a small price reduction (5-10%) to attract interest and those people who have an aversion to "list price". GROWTH 3. Once the product sales start to slow, broad base marketing (like steam etc) to get casual/ad hoc sales etc, attempt to maintain MATURITY of product sales. 4. At the DECLINE stage a provider has the choice of further price reductions to eek out as much as they can from this product development, they can produce evolutionary enhancements to further profitise the original R&D, or move to another "product" to start the process again. Reducing unit cost will increase overall revenue, and therefore profit, but within 2 weeks of release is a little early. There are still plenty of early adopters to milk first, before necessitating a price reduction. Furthermore, if the patch and "pack" follows in a short enough time frame, can keep base product price as current etc. If you're so bothered about increasing revenue for ED then may I suggest... 1. Spend your time on other forums advocating how much you like DCS:WH...rather than waste your time on the ED forums on people who are already fans. 2. Buy many versions of the product, for your mates, as an incentive to get them started. You will therefore have contributed to EDs coffers. ack!
  7. I know I shouldn't feed the troll but... Seriously, you're whining about discounts & coupons etc etc? How much of a tight ass are you? Anyone who produces software with this kind of fidelity, and it doesn't matter if its DCS, ARMA, Steel Beasts etc, deserve a realistic price for their product. $60 is nothing. $100 would be fine, given by the time I'd "finished" with it, it would equate to about 1c per hour of entertainment. Dude, you're just insulting and rude to a group of people who, albeit are in business, actually are passionate enough about a niche genre to continue that commitment in spite of ass-hats who want a sophisticated product for nothing. At your age (darrenkarp) you should be expected to appreciate the work that goes in to this kind of stuff, and be mature enough to accept paying accordingly. You're old enough to have learned by now that you get what pay for...and buy cheap, buy twice so...pay your $60 and be grateful and appreciative of the quality of this product (not perfect, but better than most). I'll stop feeding the troll now.
  8. I'm as much of an FPS whore as the rest of you, but I haven't missed the irony that if we didn't buy these evolutionary (rather than revolutionary) games, then publishers wouldn't continue to publish them, but instead work hard to find the next rich revenue stream. I think BF3 looks very nice, and I'll probably buy it, but what I really want to see is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3, as that was a nice balance of game vs sim for me. ARMA is to hardcore for me to spend the time to learn, as well as flight simming etc. Just my 2c ;)
  9. Get one, and you'll never play another flight sim without it. Besides a HOTAS, its the most important piece of kit you need for flight sim!
  10. Rushed release to beat the release of IL2:CoD, so ppl spend their money on WH first? Cynical I know. I'll still install Release version, but I'll be hanging on to Beta 4 files ;)
  11. True, but the lack of this feature makes designing and building complex missions a complete ball-ache. Much better if the product would evolve...mission makers have only been asking for it for 7 years or so! Yes, I have added this to the Wishlist thread ;)
  12. Good news. Lets hope we can get you back up in the air. I'll be about tonight from 2100z I think, as will Smudge I reckon.
  13. No A10s in the UK. RAF Mildenhall currently stations KC135s and E3s. RAF Lakenheath currently stations F15Cs. The only time I have seen an A10 in the UK, since Bentwaters closed in the early 90s, is at the RIAT airshow at Fairford.
  14. I'm keen to avoid having to learn LUA coding, so whatever works in that general direction for the ME gets my vote. I don't have the time (and therefore the inclination) to learn how to code these days, that was a job a long time ago ;)
  15. Nope, otherwise you should be simulating all the other tedious stuff like the 2 hours (or more) it takes to prep & load your A/C etc etc etc Ultimately this is how we fill our leisure time...and my time is to precious to get hacked off with a stupid random failure 1 hour in to my 2 hour time slot for playing etc. It should be an option, period.
