  1. No, I haven't mate, but now you've highlighted it and kindly supplied a link I'll check it out. Thanks
  2. Has this issue been progressed any? I'm a 7950X3D & 4090 user and now have alopecia from all the pulling out my hair trying to get DCS to run without stutters. Process Lasso was as much good as a fart in a spacesuit to me but then again I don't know what the process cores are with this CPU and I'm not a CPU savvy as most of the clever people on this thread.
  3. I have been trawling the forum to find a cure for the shimmering with the clouds which I think is even more pronounced after the recent 2.8 updates in my Reverb G2. I run a lowly 1080TI but notice that higher card users are also experiencing this annoying issue. I lost contact with my wingman on a mission recently purely down to not being able to focus through the shimmer which I see mid screens. Any ideas for at least reducing this would be greatly received. Waistcat
  4. Hello Guys, I have an issue with this process that I don't see occurring in some of the instructional videos. I have got the process down with regard to the correct button sequence using the TPOD to track a target and then passing the info to the MAV however, as soon as I uncage the MAV, the MAV video screen appears on the right screen replacing the TPOD screen. Am I missing having something set so this doesn't happen? I have use mark point method so I have the ability to fire all 4 MAVs in one pass but in doing so I not able see each of the four targets on the TPOD as I toggle through each mark point because the TPOD screen has been replaced by the MAV video screen during the attack run. The TPOD screen doesn't return when the MAV leaves the rail either, Its simply the stores page in the right screen and I have to open the TPOD screen if I want it to be displayed. I should say that this does not stop me firing four in one run as I have trust in my mark point input and I know once the info has been passed to the INS/Map function for the MAV I don't need the TPOD for the attack but it would be good to keep both screens as I have seen in the videos on YouTube. Any clues people? Waistcat.
  5. My feed back does echo others previously. I found the quality of the audio too good when using the voice chat with the radios. One can’t help making the comparison with SRS and the immersive squelch and radio voice SRS provides. So for my squadron buddies a radio voice would be preferable to maintain the immersion.
  6. Don't try and find a replacement cable if not under warranty as they are as hard as hens teeth to find.
  7. Sorted. In the VR settings in DCS the DCS mirror resolution box was ticked and I either missed it or it was ticked by mistake. Panic over.
  8. Thanks Shaun, I'll try it. In some instances I wanted the full screen but in this particular case the cursor is restricted in its movement so I can't actually get the cursor over anywhere open anything from the menu screen whilst in this state.
  9. For no good reason I can fathom, when I open VR (G2, Steam & WMR) instead of the central area of my desktop monitor showing the vr view, the whole screen is filled with the VR view. I haven’t got Steam VR mirror screen set. I’ve checked the DCS VR page in settings but can’t see anything that would cause the change. Anyone any ideas why this would happen. I opened DCS through skatezilla’s updater VR on portal without the headset connected and it opened without the issue (obviously in the normal none VR screen) so I’m assuming it’s a G2/Steam/WMR issue. Any ideas why this is happening would be gratefully received.
  10. Hello Sandmonkee, Welcome to the Harrier. Try Chucks Guide https://chucksguides.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/DCS/DCS AV-8B Harrier Guide.pdf
  11. Hello Matt, Don't know if this helps you but I use Steam VR with my Reverb G1 and I also use Voice attack for Vaicom. I was able to assign the key to a voice command so whenever I'm flying and I need a screenshot I look at the shot I simply say "Screenshot" and voice attack does the button press for me. Saves me trying to find the keyboard. But I didn't have your issue of the key not working and Steam shouldn't interfere with that. Waistcat.
  12. Thanks fellas, it works flawlessly using just ‘playtime’ It just needs a tweak in the JTAC flow page to remove ‘checking in’ as I see it and all would be good. But it looks like there are more pressing issues right now! Waistcat
  13. My confusion doesn’t lie with the carrier comms. Let me explain. I wanted to improve my voice comms with JTAC. I used the JTAC flow instructional page to achieve that and the first contact instruction contains the phrase ‘checking in’. I couldn’t get past this phrase. I tried to add it to the Microsoft voice dictionary (as Hollywood suggests in his video) but still the phrase caused problems. So I decided I would create an alias using the keyword editor. I found ‘checking in’ and the phrase was shown as in carrier ATC category. If I dropped down to the next phrase, ‘Checking out’ appears and it’s category was JTAC (and forms the end of the JTAC transmission accord to the JTAC flow instructional page in the manual and it has 3 aliases). So I’m trying to use a phrase as directed by the manual for JTAC which whilst appearing on the database isn’t actually a JTAC oriented phrase. In order to understand what I was missing I then tried to find ‘checking in’ in the references. Now whether it’s Carrier ATC or JTAC I would have thought it would appear in the reference so I could cross check. But it doesn’t. I checked a 2017 edition of the manual and there is a JTAC flow instructional page and whilst there has been changes to this opening contact transmission text, ‘checking in’ was still included in 2017. I can’t, as far as I understand, create an alias for ‘checking in’ because of where it sits within the categories. It was just the confusion that I highlighted and you kindly showed me an alternative, for which I’m grateful. I appreciate you time, Waistcat
  14. Thanks dude, That explains that. However, it does suggest the manual needs an update then as the current one which is dated January 2020 doesn’t echo the actual operation you kindly supplied. Sort of devalues term ‘read the f****** manual somewhat? Waistcat
  15. Thanks mate, yes that works but it still doesn't explain the reasonng for this confusion. I just went through the manual and I couldn't find 'checking in' listed anywhere in the manual's Keyword reference. Checking out and check out are both phrases listed under JTAC. I looked at ATC and Carrier ATC but nothing there either. But it does appear in the keywords database and its clearly a used phrase as its listed in the JTAC flow page as a radio call. Ah well - your suggestion is a decent work around. Thanks buddy Waist cat
  16. Keyword editor and alias creation Believe it or not this request for help doesn't centre around the latests update (well I don't think it does!) It's with regard to the keywords editor and specifically the JTAC phrases. I'm having problems with the phrase 'checking in' whilst attempting to communicate with the JTAC. so to overcome this I wanted to create an alias and I was going to use the phrase 'with you' but I'm struggling to understand why, when I select the phrase 'Checking in' to add my alias to it, the catagory for 'Checking in' is showing in the AI Comms|Carrier ATC and the segment is is showing as (ATC) Checking in. 'Checking out' (the next phrase on the drop down menu list) is showing in the AI Comms|JTAC category and the JTAC segment. so why the switch? Then when I tried to add 'With you' as an alias to Checking in, it gets placed as an alias to Wilco! which is a reply statement! How can I make an alias for the JTAC flow when the Phrase 'Checking in' isn't listed in the JTAC catagory even though it is a phrase clearly used in the Manual for the JTAC flow training section. Any guidance or clarification as to what I'm doing wrong will be greatly appriciated. Waistcat
  17. Hollywood, thanks mate, Audio resumed - Redir to off. DCS Audio - main audio out to speakers - headphones set to my headset. Happy days. Waistcat.
  18. Andy, if I have understood you correctly, you wish to use your voice to replace the key stroke for certain systems? I use my voice for a number of systems and it’s really simple to set up. Go to edit profile, choose create ‘new command’ which opens the edit window. Type in the command you want where it says ‘when I say’ and make sure the box next to this is ticked. Then go further down this window to the ‘key press’ box, choose this and another widow opens representing the key stokes you make. Press the keyboard key stroke(s) associated with the operation you want to voice activate. When done ‘Apply’ this to the profile and it gets added to the profile. You should be good to go.
  19. Not so sure it’s a dcs issue now! I ran another test with no Viacom or VR and this time I did get a response from DCS. Switched to Viacom in VR and but no response. I switched on sub titles in dcs audio to check the transmissions I made where being received. Frustrating!
  20. After further testing I have an issue that perhaps someone can assist me with? After the dcs 2.5.6 update and the Viacom latest update that overcome the compatibility problem I’m left with no audio responses to any radio calls. I have deduced that the fault is with dcs as I have run DCS without Viacom and out of VR and whilst I can hear the pilots voice when using the F menus, I can’t hear any response associated with the radio call. Which is mirroring what happens when I use my own voice in Viacom. Is there something missing file wise? I’m a bit stumped so anyone got any ideas?
  21. No in game sound responses for me either. I can see there was responses recorded in the speech log window but no audio on any menu.
  22. I had the same issue. I carried out a repair of dcs and it cleared and loaded as it should. Although the situation returned at another dcs session so had to repair again. I seem to have a slight drop in smoothness performance in VR. WC
  23. A newly formed UK run group with an open invite to anyone aged 18 and above within the DCS community. As the name suggests the Joint Services Air Group (JSAG) flies both modern land and sea borne airframes and is looking to recruit pilots of any abilities to join our number. Our main aim is to promote enjoying this hobby with the realism DCS provides through the varying aircraft, environments and scenarios available to us. We actively promote learning to operate the aircraft correctly with accurate procedures and communications with the goal of being able to employ the aircraft as they were intended to be used in the real world. Key to our philosophy is to ensure a balance between that realism and having fun whilst flying. We purposefully do not have any rank structure in order to promote a community ethos. We do however, expect anyone joining us to sign up and agree our shared aspirations. We have our own dedicated servers with established F18 and AV8-B Harriers squadrons. However, we don’t want to restrict the group by only allowing certain aircraft so if you fly any other type of modern fast jet or any of the helicopters available, we can find a place for you here at JSAG. There are members who regularly fly the F14 and F16 who would welcome new pilots to help them form new squadrons. We do offer training to pilots of limited experience so if you are new to DCS and wish to join the multiplayer environment there’s a welcome for you. There is no intimidating initial training to pass nor would you find yourself being side-lined because of your inexperience for a mission. We are about inclusivity and as long as you can make the organised sessions on a Sunday night (19.00 -2000 GMT) you’ll fly. The servers are active 24/7 so you’ll get access to fly whenever you wish and there’s normally someone about to fly with. Training can be organised on a one to one basis and squadron training does operate on an ad hoc basis on weekdays again around 19.00/20.00 UK time. We operate on all the maps except Normandy. We only operate PvE however, as part of training or by mutual consent, PvP can be catered for. If we have sparked your interest, drop in to our discord channel (https://discord.gg/9YkyUWB) and simply introduce yourself and someone will contact you or if you want a little more info, PM me and I’ll help get you up and running – sorry flying!
