Disable "Platform shake" from the same special options menu, you can disable the "Compute firing solution"
-
Well, you can use the binoculars for that, they actually have an elevated view position above the turret. You can definitely see above ridge lines, if not too steep, without exposing your vehicle. There is also no commander model, so they can't see you peeking. Well... I don't really make tutorials, more like one off videos when I am trying to explain or show something on the forums, that's why most of them are unlisted. As far as I know, today's guns are fully stabilized in all axis. Obviously, as long as it is within the elevation/depression limits and the turret traverse can keep up, but that shouldn't be a problem. Back in WW2, you could find tanks, which only had vertical stabilizer, which also only worked up to a certain speed, but most of the tanks had no stabilization what so ever.

Compute Firing Solution is a visual aid/cheat, which gives the ability to any unit you occupy to calculate a visual queue for lead, which is not how real life fire control systems work. Not to mention that a lot of the vehicles don't even have such. There is an actual fire control system built into the vehicles, but it is not explained anywhere and non intuitive, if you have not had any experience with it or real life experience. The fire control system in DCS is not enabled by default and it is also called "Auto Track". I made a video trying to explain how it works, be advised not the best video and it is long. @Callsign112 I need to redo that video, with better sound, so you don't have to try and understand what I am saying over the game sound.

Options -> Special-> CA -> Uncheck "Compute Firing Solution". Re-save all your missions.

What is Shadow's Dynamic War Proejct ?: Strategic gameplay, dynamic ground warfare, combined arms, logistics are only part of the things, that you can expect to encounter in the scenarios and campaigns (combat or training), that are part of the project. Command and Control roles allow for a whole new level of depth in gameplay, by approaching DCS as a strategy game and having to deal with planning, moving forces and managing limited resources (airframes/fuel/munition/vehicles). Communication and teamplay is the key to success. What is Crisis in the Caucasus ?: Picking up on the lessons learned from “Georgian Retaliation” and “Assault on Sukhumi”, “Crisis in the Caucasus” is the second campaign for Shadow’s “Dynamic War Project”. This concept is growing into a large-scale operation. Mechanics seen in previous scenarios are being carrier over, tweaked and combined with new ideas. Two factions will clash together, while having to carefully control and manage their assets and resources. What is the scenario ?: With Russia pulling out of the agreement, which imposed economical sanctions on Abkhazia and South Ossetia, a diplomatic crisis is forming up on an international level. In turn, Georgia has decided to accelerate its request to join the NATO alliance, in fear of invasion. All this has led to increased tensions between Georgia and the Russian Federation. A combat conflict seems to be inevitable. NATO forces have already started staging troops in Georgia, but due to the rapid deterioration of diplomacy between the two opposing states, it has not had enough time to prepare and fully deploy a defensive, which would guarantee the successful repel of a Russian invasion. Russia has foreseen this and has decided to attack before the winter of 2005 has started. This will increase Russia’s chances of success, before NATO is able to complete its full deployment to the region, which has been forecasted to not happen, at least, the following spring. What roles can you take?: You can take up any pilot role that is available in the scenario, a ground commander role or a command and control role. All roles include multiple objectives that they aim to achieve, so it is down to you to chose. Don't worry, if you think that you might not do that great at a role, as long as you are open minded and wanting to learn and improve, you are welcomed. When will it happen ?: High levels of realism come with their own problems, the main one being time. In real life, planning for missions is a profession of its own. I do not want DCS to become a second job for people, that is why all scenarios and campaigns are played out as events, with sign ups and enough time to prepare for everything. There are no concrete dates. Currently the campaign is in a staging phase, meaning that both factions are gather players and planning their moves. Once both teams believe they are ready, a date and time, which works for most people will be picked. You can expect weekend days, european time zone evenings. All this organization will happen over at the official project discord. How can I sign-up and where will the organization happen ?: You can sign-up, as well as find more information or ask any questions you might have over at the official Dynamic War Project discord: https://discord.gg/hDpd6Wk Is there any additional information I can receive about the campaign ?: Campaign documentation, which contains description of the scenario, the roles and units involved as well as the rules and other information can be found here. Any faction sensitive information, is shared only with the members of that faction.

Hey, in the campaign provided with the Hornet, on the second mission the weather is basically down to 0 visibility on the deck. Makes it impossible to find you target (BMP-2s) somewhere in the open. SHORAD can still see and engage you. I've seen videos of this mission before, as well as the first picture of the briefing and it does not match.

I just want the feature that are already in to be polished out and fixed where needed, before even thinking about adding new ones.... CA is such a cool concept, so sad that it is on the backburner

Those bases and FARPs look awesome, good stuff ! Are those statics or units (the structures) ?

Not fixed

Hold the phone, the M60s are drivable now.... Yea, can confirm, no coax, nor gun stabilization. -
Drivable units bobbing sideways while driving in full speed

Disable platform shake in the special options. It is still not perfect, but definitely closer to reality. -
Disable platform shake from the special options.

Have you looked into the Moose CTLD ? Seems to be more developed and supported than Ciribob's one (it was basically based on it, but put on moose and with more options/examples).

Although I agree that CA has enormous potential and a lot of market value if done right for DCS, at least for ships, currently there are a lot of issues in regards to their controllability in CA. They can work in an AI environment, where aircraft can spot them from hundreds of miles, but in a player vs player environment, they are borderline broken
-
Also the fact that there is no mechanic or way to locate them and destroy them without driving a vehicle over the. That might be a contributing factor as well. Also sorry, not sorry for pinging a post of yours after 9 years

Yes, the T-55 is one example. Basically vehicles, which do not have an Fire Control System, which automatically adjusts the reticle, when you laser range find. T-55, BMP-1/2, World War 2 vehicles, etc. For example on the T-55 and BMP-2, you have different range marks, for different types of ammo. You move the line to match the range scale for the ammo you are firing and you can then just put the thing on the thing, if you get what I mean. In case of the "feed slot 1" and 2, you can try it on the LAV-25, BMP-2/3, M2A2, etc. It will switch between HE and AP on the autocannon.
-
IFF test is for SAM vehicles. You can try it out on the SA-13 for example. Feed slots are for autocannons, which have dual ammo feed. That way you can switch between AP and HE. The "slow" elevation corrections don't work. But the normal ones do. They adjust the range on your reticle for older vehicles. I am guessing the azimuth correction is for leading. Have never used it. But I am going to assume, that the "slow" commands don't work as well.

A feature, which doesn't exist or at least work currently. There is a command called "Ammunition reloading manual start", which sounds like something that would do a reload of the ready rack, but it currently has literally no function. What happens is, it just gives you a normal reload timer, as if you are loading a new round, or switching boxes on a machine gun and nothing happens, if you had 14 rounds in the box, you will still have 14 in the box after waiting a reload timer. Same for tanks, ready rack is not touched. Would be great if this command would allow you to reload a half empty box or load up the ready rack.

Seems like an AI tasking problem, not a Combined Arms one. Might have better luck posting this in the AI Bugs section of the forum

investigating SA-19 Does not Use Guns to Destroy incoming missiles
Shadow KT replied to Shadow KT's topic in Weapon Bugs
I am not able to play DCS currently, but as per the changelog, why was the SA-19s ability to engage other missiles, with its own missiles removed? If it can use its radar, to track and engage missiles with its gun, it can use its radar to feed information to the Fire Control system for the missile. I am assuming it is a DCS limitation to not be able to use a radar to feed information to a visually guided weapon, like the missiles on the Tunguska or Rapier (although I've not used that SAM ever, so I don't know if it actually uses ita TR) -
You can't do it on your own. It has to be MP and someone somewhere, has to be in a SAM vehicle locking something.... If we knew how it worked, we would have reproduced it long time ago... play CA on the Cold War Server by Alpen and you will eventually get it. If you play frequently, it won't take long.
-
Sounds like you have your headtracking enabled, while in a vehicle. The aiming reticle is a picture on top of your screen, so when you move your head, it looks like you are moving the reticle, when it reality, you are just moving your view around.
-
I don't know what's up on your side, but I've had this option enforced on one of my scenarios, which was ran on a dedicated server. I've also had this feature disabled on another dedicated server I played on, which was running a community mission.

reported Group Restrictions (Radar ON/OFF) not synced in MP
Shadow KT replied to Shadow KT's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
This is still an ongoing issues and it causes desync between clients.
