  1. bump! I think it's really important feature that I miss in DCS.
  2. I wish that DCS had the similar soultion that was implemented in X-Plane - a checkbox in options section that can switch between VR and non-VR modes without restarting the simulator.
  3. Sorry, if this question was asked before. I would like to know if there are some templates or recommendations for TM Warthog to control Hornet (which is great, BTW!)
  4. I don't think it is hard to learn, but I think the manual is really badly written. I read it all and didn't have knowledge about tactics, valid and effective procedures, etc. (Side note: the BEST manual I have EVER encountered in the sim is a manual for Dangerous Waters - it's a joy to read and it is useful). But we have forum and youtube. And that helps A LOT! I can now easily use any weapon that can carry Warthog. I have some techniques with targeting (that takes practice). Still learning (and it is fun!). But, as someone said here before: I strongly recommend buying TM HOTAS Warthog to control this beast. Comparing to my older joystick it is like driving an Aston Martin vs. driving a cheapest Tata car. And there are so many controls that are now just in the right place! I don't think I would have a patience to learn A-10C without this gear. (sorry if it sounds like marketing, I am not connected with this company, just like it a lot ;))
  5. Poseidon would be useless without good submarine campaign and environment. I love Dangerous Waters - although it is mainly sim of submarines and sensors, the aircraft model is very basic - all fun is in playing seek and hide using sonobuoys, towed arrays, sonars, thermal layers, etc. It's a whole new world, so I don't think it will be ever implemented in DCS.
  6. OK, I just made a flight and used markpoints for the first time. Useful, but I have some questions: 1. If I set a markpoint - is there any visual clue which markpoint am I setting? Is it A, B, C? where can I check it fast? 2. If I press TMS RIGHT short 3 times - will it set 3 markpoints at the same place? 3. Is there any method to reset markpoints and start over from the beginning?
  7. Thank You for all replies in this topic! :D You are a great community! Will test some of these methods soon.
  8. Hi! Could You share some Your SPI designation strategies? My problem is that slewing SPI in TGP or MAV modes (ar any mode for that matter) is very slow. It gets a little better in MAV, when I change slew rate, but still I lose a lot of time to get the SPI over a target. Sometimes, in a heat of a battle those seconds are crucial. How do you designate SPI for Your sensors? Do You have some techniques that speed-up things a bit or make the whole targeting faster? Maybe there are some videos that explain that? Markers, waypoints?
  9. I read (in this thread also), that this isn't modeled yet (programming CDU has no effect)
  10. Done some more test lately in CCRP mode with Mk82Air in high drag mode. - Aircraft perfectly leveled at 2500 ft, good weather conditions, - CCRP in 5MIL mode - bombs released in the middle of the circle. - Target designated by TGP. ...Huge miss by hundred or more meters. I think that CCRP solution does not count in the wind. All low-drag bombs are delivered succesfully 9/10. And this hi-drag unguided bombs are constantly missing their targets.
  11. Thanks for a warm welcome :) I do a lot of reading / flying last days, it's fun. Rudder pedals? Yes, definetely, soon.
  12. So it's been a week with DCS Warthog, TM HOTAS and TrackIR5. And my first conclusion after this time is: those products should really be sold as a bundle :D I cannot imagine how hard it can be to change SOI, use DMS and TMS without this Thrustmaster beautiful gear. And it is the most smooth joystick I ever had. Landing and level turning was never easier :) And TrackIR - although it was quite strange feeling at first, after a bit of tweaking really helps in making deep turns on targets and gaining SA. DCS + TM + TrackIR = perfect solution and flying comfort :) After a week I managed to accomplish: - ramp start - take off and landing (although without TACAN and ILS) - succesfully applying Mavericks, MK-82, Mk82Air with low drag, GBU 12 and GBU 38, using CCIP and CCRP modes, with Auto and manual laser modes. - basics of CMS Still a lot of learning - especially I must learn more about navigation, ILS and TACAN approach, communications and after that - combat tactics and maneuveres :) Wholla lotta fun! :D
  13. hmm, that could be it. I was launching them from 6000 ft or more.
  14. OK, just played simple mission and my statistics are: 2 x Mk82Air Hidrag = fail 2 x Mk82Air Lowdrag = success 1 x Maverick = success I tried to look what went wrong with hidrag Mk82. Basicaly those bombs were landing a hundred or more meters from target, even with most precise flying in CCRP. Totally unreliable for me now... But with CCRP and low drag everything went perfect - maybe 3-6 meters from target in CCRP.
  15. I use two types of zoom: 1. Zooming by TrackIR, that is helpful when I want to see my MFDs 2. Zooming by the Lever on Hotas Warthog Throttle - to zoom the HUD. This combination works well for me. Increase sensitivity in vertical axis (Y), it will help. Launch TrackIR5, launch DCS, ALT-Tab to TrackIR (it will hide in Your tray but You can doubleclick it to maximize), adjust Your axis, ALT-Tab.. repeat until happy. Don't gforget to use some smoothing, the view will not be as jumpy. Important: DCS A10C World with Warthog is recognized by TrackIR5 as Black Shark 2, so If You make some changes and save it as Your profile You will need to assign it to BS2, or TrackIR will switch to default every time You run Warthog. After 4 days of using TrackIR5 I am completely happy with this solution. But it needs tweaking. Default profile is unusable for me :)
  16. I don't know how much I miss, because I use Hat for trimming and didn't assign any key to look around (and TrackIR looking around doesn't work outside cockpit). I will assign something tonight and check. And I was flying almost leveled, on autopilot, all was going like in the book and I had 3 misses in a row. Frustrating. No problem with regular CCIP mode, problem exists when I want to release bombs without a dive - in CCRP or CCIP / CR.
  17. I have got a question, because I have difficulties in hitting targets with unguided bombs in CCIP / CR and CCRP mode. Are there any restrictions of flight parameters when holding the trigger? Because I often miss the targets. I designate target with TGP, use 5mil mode, bombs are released and I think that everything should be correct, but I miss. Maybe it's forbidden to bank in this mode? Don't know :/
  18. Thanks, I'll look at it (although I would like not to spend more money). Any free-of-charge ideas? Maybe something is possible with Target software (I haven't dig into yet).
  19. Wow! So I got my TM Hotas set. It's huge and heavy and sexy! Works great in my DCS a10c. But I also want it to work in my FSX. And all works almost perfect except throttle - it's not too good calibrated in FSX. When I put it to idle it goes to 50% in Bombardier. When I put it to max - it goes to 76%. Maxed out sensivity - it helped, but I think that it is still not "full" throttle. I know that it is not FSX forum, but maybe can You help?
  20. :) You have convinced me. I will invest in some rudder pedals. I guess it will be Saitek Pro Flight (non-combat version). They are cheaper and I like to fly civilian aircraft from time to time. Thanks again! :)
  21. Thanks for all answers :) Really helpful! I am sure I will got more when I actually start flying Warthog. Now I am deep in documentation reading and Youtube watching, most of things seem difficult / frustrating to achieve without TM HOTAS. I was looking towards DCS series for a long time but didn't want to start flying without decent gear. But now it's the time to rock! :D
  22. Thank You for Your answer! :) Now I wonder which pedals to choose. Saitek has three models. I will pass Cessna, so there are two - Pro Flight and Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals. There is a difference in price. Will it be a mistake if I buy cheaper pedals? (Saitek Pro Flight)
  23. First of all: Hi! It's my first post, hope to stay here for some time :) I am actually building my sim setup. I wait for my Track IR and HOTAS Warthog and expect them this week. But I wonder If I really need rudder pedals. I think that I will not be able to buy them this month. And I am wondering if I actually need them. I read manual of Warthog, page 148: "SAS provides you automatic turn coordination (adding the proper amount of rudder input when banking the aircraft)." So - do I really need pedals in flight? Or are they only usable while taxing?
