  1. Thread bump! I just joined the list of CJ owners here in the states. Great airplane! I agree w/wanting one for DCS.
  2. I have a copy of that same book sitting on my shelf. It’s system’s description is very basic in terms of how stuff actually works. With that said, it’s not always going to be correct on how things actually work.
  3. Since everyone is diving into the weeds, that 2,750 is the cracking pressure of a check valve on the utility accessories manifold. If you get 3000 psi on start of #2 on the real airplane, it’s a bad valve which causes a s••t tone of work to be done. So it’s not the pump putting out the 2750. All 4 pumps are interchangeable. @Ramsay correct me if I’m wrong, It’s been 20+ years.
  4. Select burner, airplane goes faster. It’s really that simple. I appreciate you wanting the realistic experience, but there’s not much to it. If the light-off detector doesn’t sense a burner flame, there’s an “AB NO LIGHT” message.
  5. That’s funny because when I was teaching the airplane, it was Tanks 1, 2, 3A & 3B. But what do I know.
  6. No. Fuel flow will tell you if you're in burner. You can feel the segments (we don't call those zones) light. 99.8% of the time when you select burner, you'll get burner. It's really not much more than that.
  7. Just push through. After that you can feel the “kick” as the individual segments light off.
  8. There is the idle stop and mil power detent. In reality, you really can’t hear the airplane in burner in flight. The crew can feel the burner segments light off.
  9. Dumps from one side. If the surge boxes fill up on either side, it will start venting fuel from either mast.
  10. They got rid of that feature back during my time of the jet. We had a couple jets land and blow both mains. The thought was the switch wasn't completely turning off w/its auto feature so a TCTO was issued to remove the auto release. I can't remember if that fixed the problem or not.
  11. On one of my rides in the backseat, I slammed it in burner and got it up to 8g’s at corner speed. The airspeed bled off very quickly. It’s NOT a phone booth airplane at all. BVR and maybe a quick fight w/certain opponents. That’s it.
  12. What Rainmaker said Even if you sat in the jet w/out headphones/helmet, the ECS and inlet is so loud, you can’t hear the CENC exhaust. Especially if the crew chief isn’t connected to the ground cord.

  15. It's a lot to explain, but yes, it starts fast. Starts using stored hydraulic fluid in accumulators under pressure. Uses a clutch system to accelerate, engage, and spin the AMADS. The F-16 uses a JFS as well, though a different set-up compared to the 15. More of a direct connect to the 16's accessory drive.
