  1. I've missed that above sea level thing. Its a contradiction in terms, and shows that the static weather system gives little to no freedom.
  2. As long as you're MASKED by the cloud youre safe. Lol
  3. Please don't go too fast for yourself, you'll crash and burn.
  4. THEN it would make sense. So the cloudbase is 300m above sea level? Cloudbases are always based above ground level. So much for the so-called freedom for the static weather in the ME.... There isn't much...
  5. Yeah... break hard so that you'll point your engines towards the threat....
  6. What about that cloudbase and thickness? I already mentioned that, why are you repeating?
  7. Ok, just for you, I'll quote the manual. HOLY SHIT. I was right, 300 meters is the lowest for the static weather. I am stupendous? lol, check the mirror dude! Seriously, come with some arguments instead of bullshit.
  8. lol... Well, I'm revisiting right now. Just tried the ME. Lowest possible cloud base was 300m! Thickness 2000m. Now, unless there's a way to get that cloud base lower than 300m, you tell me where all that freedom is for static weather settings? A helicopter can EASILY fly VFR with a cloudbase around 300m. Now you could ofcourse bring the visibility back, but that doesn't make a lot of sense.
  9. Below ground level? That doesn't make any sense. Is it possible to set the weather per airfield?????
  10. Zooming up is just as simple as pulling the stick to convert airspeed into altitude.
  11. By ZOOMING UP. If you're a couple hundred feet below or next to a cloud, you could use it for cover. I'm saying, it's an option worth considering. Terrain masking would always be better ofcourse.
  12. Only once have I seen a low cloud deck. Can't remember how low it was. The mission editor doesn't allow a lot of freedom for static weather settings, maybe it's possible to use the dynamic weather to cook up some seriously poor weather. I've noticed many people online flying an ILS with the clouds at FL OMG and 100+ vis.
  13. An IR missile can't track you through thick enough clouds. Moisture diffuses IR radiation.
  14. Actually, both could. However, older systems are more likely to give up.
  15. You could even do a throttle chop and zoom up. No requirement for max power/AB per se. Why is everyone suffering from tremendous tunnelvision on this forum?
  16. Yeah. If you have 5-6, (maybe more?) seconds to react, and you're near the cloud deck, you could zoom up into it. It's an option to contemplate. Also to avoid follow-on engagements. OR, terrain masking, if you can use the terrain to your advantage, that's always the way to go.
  17. You're decades behind, with the software upgrades you're talking about! ;)
  18. Like I said before... And stubborn people here have a hard time reading and understand, I know... Older systems can definitally follow a trail of flares. Are you even familiar with the flare rejection techniques? And how they can be countered? And you're not done for with modern missiles... Ever heard of DIRCAM? Or maybe tactics, like terrain masking? Or climbing into a cloud?
  19. 920! 1040! 760! Dude seriously, 850 what?
  20. What happens here doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Maybe if intell can tell you the IR missiles the enemy uses are outdated, you could try this tactic. Or maybe it's just showing off. Or maybe it's just scaring the Taliban, I dunno. That's just a jettison of a whole lot of flares. Just for fun :)
  21. IRL, flaring constantly would just give a modern IR missile a trail to follow towards your a/c. Dunno how or if this is modelled in DCS.
  22. I know, but you focus your goggles before you get in the aircraft usually, that's why I said it's useless in DCS, also, the focus should be set for infinity, so there's no reason to change that in DCS. I know what it looks like IRL :) I have around 300 NVG hours, if I'm to take a wild guess.
  23. There wouldn't be a reason to adjust focus in DCS, because that's not what you'd do irl either.
  24. Todd, that last pic actually isnt that unrealistic. Adjusting contrast on your goggles IS!
  25. We all already agreed on that fact I think, but going through ETL definitly does have effect on the helicopter attitude.
