  2. My record is 17.2 G :). I was expecting to see the wings rip off but found that the Su-27 is quite sturdy indeed!
  3. I haven't heard of a "fighter approach" specifically, but it may be something similar to the Overhead Break, which is a landing approach manoeuvre designed to limit the amount of time for which the aircraft is vulnerable (low & slow). There's a video of someone demonstrating how it's done in the A-10C here:
  4. Hey, just wanted to say thanks for posting these. The Vergeev campaign is one of the best user-created sets of missions I've seen for DCS. It's a shame the creators stopped making them but I fully understand their reasons for doing so. Would you mind posting in this thread any bugs you've found running the missions in the latest version of DCS World so far? (Maybe put them in spoiler tags so it doesn't give away the story for those who haven't played the campaign.) Keep up the good work! :D
  5. Glad to hear people are enjoying the mission! I considered putting the scoring criteria in the mission but decided it would take too long to explain and be a lot of reading :P. So here it is, for those who are curious. Each second, you get one "point" for being within the following limits: -4 deg < bank < 4 deg -4 deg < pitch < 4 deg speed < 1 m/s 0 m AGL < height < 6 m AGL (10 m for third test) aircraft within assigned hovering area (if applicable) within 5 degrees of assigned heading There are no checks for rotational speed in the second test, or movement speed in the third test. As soon as the instructor tells you to change heading or position, you will stop accumulating points until you're stable at the next heading/position. So the faster you do it, the better, except that will likely make it more difficult to re-stabilise yourself. The scores are set to give you roughly 5 sec to change heading in the second test, and roughly 10 sec to move between each container in the third test. That's a good find, I am going to go check those out now.
  6. This is definitely an issue in some missions. There is already an inbuilt way to implement a fix: the trigger condition "TIME SINCE FLAG". The problem is this must be manually implemented for each flag. I've tried to do this in missions I've created, but it definitely requires extra effort on the part of the mission creator. It also needs to be implemented separately for each trigger flag in the mission. I don't know that there's an easy solution for this. The best approach at the moment is for released missions to be thoroughly play-tested, and (this is the harder part) for players to report "limbo" type issues to mission designers when they find them.
  7. I've added a new version, it's attached to the first post. Added a third test Added numerical scoring after each test Fixed a couple of bugs I found Glad to see someone found that feature :) Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I had some similar ideas -- I was thinking of adding wind and rain, hadn't thought of the "hot & high" aspect though. I think I'll have to make separate missions -- except for cargo weight, those parameters can't be changed during a mission to my knowledge.
  8. It's possible, but it will absolutely kill your framerate. Standard multi-monitor DCS renders the scene once and stretches it across three screens. This results in huge distortion at the edges, but most people live with it. The alternative is to render the scene once per monitor... this allows you to have much less distortion (or even a totally different perspective for each monitor, as you are talking about), but the frame rate will likely drop to unplayable levels unless you have an amazingly powerful PC. I can't remember the exact method/setting to change between the two methods; I think one of the default 3-screen setups uses the second method though (rusty memory). [edit] Also, I'm not sure if it's possible to disable view movement (e.g. TrackIR) on only one of the monitors.
  9. Thanks for the feedback and glad to hear people are enjoying it. I can get A on the first test and B on the second... If no-one is able to achieve A on the second, I think I may need to adjust the requirements down a little bit. If anyone gets an A, or thought it was unreasonably hard to get an A, let me know. Also thinking about what to do for a third test; will try to post an updated version over the weekend.
  10. Mission: Hover Practise Name: Hover Practise Author: Telomere Mission type: Training Controllable: UH-1H Quick Summary: - Practise hovering in ground effect - Instructor will give a grade of A, B or C according to how stable you can hover Link/Download: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106998 Full brief/Discussion thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106998
  11. Hi all I made a mission to help practise hovering in the Huey (and also to learn how to use the mission editor). It's not complicated, just a simple In-Ground-Effect lesson, with some logic to grade your performance at hovering. There are two separate tests for which you can be graded A, B or C. The first test has you hovering in a reasonably large area, the second makes the area smaller and also requires you to point in specific directions. Mission is attached to this post. Would appreciate any feedback on bugs or improvements! Version 2 changes: Added a third test Added numerical scoring after each test Fixed a couple of bugs I found Hover_practise v2.miz
