  1. I had both my throttle and stick brick on me about 4 years ago when I tried a firmware upgrade via the Thrustmaster site. After much gnashing of teeth and research I found a suggestion that using an old PC might allow an install of the old firmware drivers via the bootloader method. After more gnashing of teeth and a little wailing I found on old PC in a storeroom at work. I flashed it up plugged in the Warthog Throttle and Stick and installed the old firmware drivers. It worked!! Something to do with USB versions IIRC. Suffice to say, I have since stayed well away from any firmware updates and my Warthog is still giving me sterling service! I hope this info may help some of you out there before you go to the expense of returning parts to TM or indeed buy a new setup altogether. Regards, WB.
  2. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I'm not so sure it's the TGP though as it happens in all the training missions and most of those don't have the TGP fitted. I find it hard to believe the real aircraft would wallow around like this? WB.
  3. Does this work with Oculus and standalone DCS? I don't run Steam VR. Cheers, WB.
  4. Just getting back into DCS and the F16 after a break. Loving the F16 in VR but is the constant trimming something everyone experiences or am I getting something wrong. Seems like I constantly have to trim especially in the roll axis, it never seems to settle in the centre position just keeps on rolling till I input opposite trim then it just rolls back the other way. It's very small but noticeable and has a big impact when setting up for bombing runs etc. I'm using a TM Warthog setup with a small deadzone in the pitch/roll axes using the trim hat on the stick. I've checked for input conflicts etc but nothing is obvious. I'm quite happy to believe it's my setup rather than the sim so any suggestions would be welcomed. If it is the sim and other people are experiencing the same thing I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Cheers, WB.
  5. I liked the old one, easy to find my way around and looked good. This new one looks like a step backward. :(
  6. Might I recommend PointCTRL : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218861 An amazing addition to the VR experience and MilesD, the developer, is always on hand for advice if needed. I've had it running since January and I can't imagine flying in VR without it. WB.
  7. Thanks for the reply, but I think maybe something is FUBARed with my ME then. Under the USA there are no templates listed unlike the ones shown in your screenshot. Under the Russia option only the SA10 appears and for the majority of countries there is nothing in the drop down list under the respective country? WB.
  8. Thanks for all the replies, guess I'll just have to get used to not understanding it! :) WB.
  9. I was watching Wags' video tutorial about creating missions with the SuperCarrier and noticed he used a SAM site template. I don't use the ME very much but dabble occasionally to set up very simple scenarios for myself. It would be great to have some templates for things like SAM sites and other targets etc. Am I missing them somewhere in the ME or do we have to create them oursleves? I've searched the download files on the DCS site but couldn't find anything using the keyword 'template'. Cheers, WB.
  10. +1 for the OP. This would be awesome in VR with PointCTRL. WB.
  11. I know this has been raised before but I still can't get my head around the fact that mirroring the VR image onto my monitor has little impact on performance? Surely the fact that my monitor is running with its desktop, other app windows (eg Voiceattack) and mirroring the VR display must mean that it is sucking valuable resources from the CPU/GPU? I don't think I'm stupid but I'm willing to accept that it might just be magic that my poor 53 year old brain can't comprehend! :) Any tech gurus care to explain in simple terms? Cheers, WB.
  12. Yep, great stuff, very useful, thanks. WB.
  13. Thanks for the info. Will try different aircraft as you say. Though my days of continually tweaking for performance are long behind me. I remember the Blackdeath track from IL2! :smilewink: WB.
  14. If you look at the product specifications: Product Specifications: PCI Express specification: PCI Express x 4 Expanded Ports: 1*USB-A, 1*USB-C Chip: ASM1142, ASM1543 Power supply: 15-pin SATA power connector Dimensions: 121*82*18 mm Weight: 44g Material: PCBA main board + aluminum back plate The chip shows as ASM.... which I believe is ASMedia. WB.
  15. Looks like it uses an ASMedia controller. :( I too am looking to see if a different USB3 port will help with performance. I have an Asus Z170 Pro Gaming mobo with the ASMedia controlled USB3.1. I have I7-7700k and an RTX2070 which I recently upgraded from a GTX 1070. I'm a bit disappointed with the performance so far. The benchmark I use for testing different settings is the first training mission for the F16. Whilst sitting in the jet I look right and watch the 2 jets flying across the airfield from right to left. There is noticeable stutter as they fly past. I am using a Rift S and have tried different USB ports but none seem to make any difference. :( WB.
  16. Yes, I'm a ham fisted idiot!!! I had a short extension fitted to my TM Warthog Joystick. After purchasing the DCS F16 I moved the stick to the side of my chair for a more realistic position. I also decided to remove a 12cm extension I had fitted for the past couple of years. The extension was very tight and without thinking I just twisted and twisted until there was a bit of a crack and the whole stick started rotating in its base. I had broken the mechanism which held the large 'knob' in the base of the stick. After much cursing and swearing and self flagellation I took the base apart and realised it was beyond repair. A quick visit to Amazon and a new stick arrived the next day - thank heavens for modern shopping methods. Anyway, I now have a perfectly serviceable Warthog stick but no base upon which to mount it. I've seen that there are some other bases available but I was wondering if there are any out there that would give the stick a realistic F16 feel, ie the force sensing option? Any info would be much appreciated. Regards, WB.
  17. Thanks for this, I had the same issue in the F16 cockpit. Rctrl-numpad 4 fixed it. So what does Rctrl-numpad 1 and Rctrl-numpad 4 do exactly? Confused! WB.
  18. This looks like great fun. Does the custom ATC work with VA/VAICOM? Cheers, WB.
  19. Well it was good to see. I hadn't realised that a pair would takeoff together as long as they were set to 'takeoff from runway'. I usually set my AI to start from the ramp so as to give the airfield a little more life while I'm going through my start ups. Good to see that the ATC systems seems to be getting a bit of an overhaul. The carrier stuff looks interesting. I wonder how much of it will translate to land based ops. It would be great to have a crew chief and ground-crew to interact with whilst checking flaps and air-brakes etc!! WB.
