  1. Never heard of this aircraft before but I would love to see some multi engine prop aircraft in DCS

  3. Really? I was under the impression that if I lase, set a SPI, and then turn off the laser that the SPI stays put. I guess I'll have to leave the laser on a little longer
  4. System requirements currently listed indicate that you'll need a dual core processor or better and from experience you will definitely need a better video card before you can run A-10C. check on the e-shop for the full system requirements
  5. if you're handy with a soldering iron you can make a point model with some IR LEDs to use with FacetrackNOIR. I find this methoid works well but I cannot speak to how it compares to the TrackIR

    I think you're going to have to try again on that or edit your post to include what you meant to say in your native tongue. I have the kind of gist of what you're trying for but I'm lost on the actual content of your question.

  8. I would really like it if we were able to use these autopilot indicators seperately from the control indication. I find from my habits on the huey I use the control stick indication a lot. But I currently am juist finding that these autopilot indicators block my view
  9. In most aircraft the radar altimeter is on its own manual switch. The reason is that the radar altimeter can deliver hazardous radiation to ground crew working around the aircraft. The radar altimeter is usually turned on immediately before take off. In fixed wing this is usually part of the runway entry checklist
  10. Looking at this it looks like there is no governor on the MI-8 and oddly rather than the throttle on the collective it is a switch on the panel? or is there a governor and the switch is just to adjust what RPM the governor tries to hold?

  12. Thanks Flyer49. I'll have to work on this. I've been trying to pull it into a hover about 2-3 feet off the ground. I'll have to work on getting that perfect approach straight to a landing. With any luck I'll actually land ON the helipad not off in a field. I doubt my ground crew would appreciate having to take a hike to wherever I decided to drop it
  13. Ninjaofdoom: it kind of sounds like you didn't manage to keep the attitude held down enough to enter into translational lift. Just above 40 knots the shaking and other forces will calm down and it will be a nice smooth ride. Feels a bit like a fixed wing even. AFAIK force trim is the real deal. However it doesn't do quite what we see on our consumer joysticks. Rather than moving the center position on the joystick to a different spot with regard to the control surfaces, the force trim just makes it so that the stick stays in the position you trimmed when no forces are being applied to it If you land with much force DCS currently counts that equal to you shooting the building in question so that can be detrimental. The other point that makes rooftop landings a bit challenging is that most buildings are tall enough that you are not in ground effect at all when you come in for the landing. Ground Effect hovering is MUCH easier than hovering out of ground effect.

  15. Thank you flyer49 for the excellent post. I don't know about the others but I can definitely see from this material how I must be falling into VRS. Do you know what units the horizontal axis is on that final graph? I have a bit of trouble visualizing my flightpath angles while flying so I try to keep certain speeds and rates of decent to achieve the desired flightpath
