  1. Hansangb, where you quote me as being redundant, that's actually Remi's post. Chichlidfan responded to him, correcting him about "torque and lever length" where torque is a product of lever length" I was responding to Remi, and I interpreted his comment to saying that stiction is related to torque, in that it is caused by a lack of torque. Tho I'll acknowledge that maybe I misinterpreted the statement. So my response was to elaborate on what stiction is & the actual causes behind it. You are right tho, I do agree w Chichlidfan that the leverage is what increases the torque. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Negative. Leverage increase your forces which reduces the effects of stiction. Stiction is caused by improperly fitted mechanical pieces, the material those surfaces are made from and lack of properly lubrication. If the tolerances are too tight, you increase the friction. 3. I always wondered if I was just unbelievably picky, or if my stick actually had the stiction problem, where others didn't. I have pulled mine apart & nearly severed one of the wires - but thankfully I noticed the resistance in the gimbal & pulled it back apart before doing permanent damage. I was able to pop out one cross pin but the other was just bound in too tight & I didn't want to accidentally pull a wire fighting it. So I cleaned the original grease up the best I could, greased the whole sucker in molykote & reassembled. It still has some stiction. I mostly notice it with very minor adjustments during combat maneuvers (WWII) I have heavily considered the FSSB R3, by RealSimulator. Force sense sounds amazing, but I read it's not so great if your flying older planes like the mustang, or the 109. So that's on the back burner. I just saw the VKB Gunfighter "base only" was discontinued about as quickly as it was released. So for now I'm holding out to see that release, along with the modern stick pro & maybe that'll be my new right hand :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  4. It'll load whatever you had in the saved config file. (IE: you won't have to go clear all the "POV-look" bindings) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  5. You can grab your control configs & save a backup into a separate folder. Then when you delete your saved files (if that's what you need to do), once you relaunch DCS, you'll be able to go to your controller settings & choose to load your saved/backed up config. 6. Far too often now we see companies pair a cheap set of cans and a terrible microphone together, calling it their "gamer" edition. They cover the box in lame l337 speak text and then charge a premium price. I would suggest looking for reviews. I had some fatalities from years back. The super duper cool guy version. They were absolute trash. I'm not saying all "gamer" marketed cans are bad.... Just most. I have to give some credit to logitech. Their wireless g930's are pretty decent. I've had a pair for years. You can find them for < $100 now. However my current setup is Audio Technica ATH-A900x with a ModMic 4.0 attached. I do wear a hat + clip for my TrackIR. Can't speak to how good the pro clip may fit these in particular. Cost roughly $200 together for excellent audiophile headphones + a superb microphone.
  7. That'd be sweet. Last time I checked on tars it didn't support the ts3 updates. That was some time ago so this could have changed. Would be sweet to have that extra immersion for the DoW server tho!
  8. Just a quicky - be sure to launch TrackIR, then launch DCS. If you start TrackIR after a game, it won't be recognized.
  9. Nope. Things have changed. The link Iberian shared has the FAQ to answer most questions. Dcs wwii is a product which is no more. ED is completing the individual planes & the map, eventually. All will run in DCS, simply as individual modules.
  10. Your RIGHT! I Found where they set the difficulty of the different planes on takeoff!! Just go in and change the position! ..program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts\Difficulty.lua //Take-off Difficulty _Rudder_Randomizerer: { P-51_ { [Easy]-----^--------------[Difficult] } {Difficulty} } { FW-190_ { [Easy]-----------------^--[Difficult] } {Difficulty} } :harhar: No really, its just difficult. It's not the Mustang. Don't expect it to handle like the Mustang. When the wheel is locked back, its fully locked. It doesn't move at all. You have to be much more gentle with it on the ground, take off and landings else you'll end up dead.
  11. Haha nice. It just takes a little finesse. Give it some time, you'll get it down. I thought I was in good shape for a while, then I found that 'Rudder assist" was on by default. Turned it off and suddenly I couldn't get off the ground! Took me some time to find out what I needed to do.. Small movements go a long way in this plane. More so than in other Prop Sims I've jumped in. Definitely than (from what I could tell) in jets! Im usin a 'hog as well. Excellent stick :)
  12. How was the 190 handled? Nobody had access until it was actually released @ full price, or was there brief access? Is the 190 "Beta access" now, or 'released but still needs some tweaks for things we overlooked/missed the deadline for'?
  13. nope! got all excited! lol - Generated a key. Went to the page "Download files" .... click! and "Sorry, but the product files are not available at the moment." DOOHHH!!!
  14. Ooh... so ... we got access then? :X
  15. Nice!!! Can't wait to hop in a 109!!
  16. Ground units are there. Its hard to spot them from high altitude, but they're there. Don't know if they can make the plane shake from flak..thats probably something built into the engine, more so than achievable by mission building.
  17. I just mapped the left throttle pinky switch on my 'hog to the idle/start positions for the Dora. I was a bit confused as well. For the elevator stabilizer I used the 3-way radar switch.
  18. When you turn on the Dora, did you push ALL the switches on the right panel? 12 of them. Some are obscured by the cockpit crank. I'm not looking at it right now but I am pretty sure one of those gives power to the landing gear system.
  19. Manual? What's that? Oh like stick-shift! :D following the manual isn't any fun!
  20. I've been doin trial and error, but have had better success with my engine than with my landing procedures :D Taking off & climbing I'll open cooling fins 100%. I typically climb at max power or near there. When I'm in level flight/cruising speeds I'll reduce to around 2600 RPM and close the fins to roughly 30-50%. Sometimes in a dive or during combat I'll close them fully. I kick the boost on & off during combat. Usually turn on the boost for the extra zoom climb. If, during combat, my temps start to peak I'll open the cooling fins 100% and reduce throttle slightly when diving. Again, this is just how I've been running it. Probably all wrong :)
  21. Fixed the Gun /Camera switch. Must had been tired last night when setting the bindings. It was: ["d3016pnilu3016cd13vd1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN24", }, }, ["name"] = "Gun safety switch (rotary)", },I tried different goto states... 0.1 0.2. Didn't work. Once I revisited the options menu and saw I bound to Rotary (as if the code wasn't clue enough) and not the actual function, I deleted the above from the script and re-bound. Did necessary edits and got this: ["d3007pnilu3007cd13vd1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN24", }, }, ["name"] = "Gun safety switch GUN CAMERA SIGHT", },[/Code]Now comparing the differences, I'm coming to a stronger conclusion that the 30xx numbers are the 'button press type', or function. The Cockpit ID is 13 in both situations (interestingly, the CD inside the clickabledata.lua is 12 while 13 is the chemical release/left|right bomb arm switches). 3007 'toggle up' position. 3016 rotate/cycle
  22. Thank you for your response. I was figuring things out last night. Got my multi-switch/rotaries to work as intended with one exception. The gun/camera on switch cycles thru instead of going between the off/both on states I wrote into the file. Your suggestion worked. I changed the 3003 to 3005 for the fuel-shutoff valve. It doesn't force sync the cockpit, but it doesn't move the lever unless it is in sync. Basically I have been testing by toggle switch-on, hopping into a cold start mission and checking. Now I can toggle-off, then back to on to activate the ingame lever. It stays in sync after that which is beautiful. I also changed the fuel booster switch (I believe it was 3008 ) to 3005. Its working in sync now as well So next I tried that with gun gyro motor On/Off, which I bound to RDR ALTM switch. That was 3008, and i changed it to 3005. It actually changed the cockpit switch. When flipping the toggle it turned the brightness from full on-full off. I found that odd... I thought the 3000-numbers was the games way to defining what button was pressed on our joystick, but after this it seems its the type of press/activation. So where 3003 is a simple 'toggle', 3005 is 'toggle-state'. If that's true, then maybe the gun-gyro motor and the brightness knobs are tied to the same device-id, changing the 'press type' is how they define on off/level of brightness... Edit: Just adding in that I deleted the gun-gyro setting in the .lua file, went into options and bound it to AutoPilot engage button. Good enough.
  23. So... I'm redownloading/installing the P-51. I managed to royally screw up my configs while attempting to force-feed old .lua files into the new system (as mentioned somewhere in another thread, placing it into mods/aircraft/p-51d/input/p-51d/joystick). Deleting the config file under user/saved games/dcs won't give me a "Default" .diff file anymore. Loading ".lua" does absolutely nothing. I'll likely be giving DCS a full on fresh install tomorrow but I'm hoping to get a jump on things so I can hit the ground running. So while I wait I have a couple questions. First I want to verify, the data.lua goes into the main DCS directory? This is my first attempt at altering anything within DCS beyond the options menu. I wanted to learn the aircraft before screwing things up :) I've got some experience with a form of Regex so I'm gradually understanding these... What I'm attempting to do here is use the "Right Flow" switch as fuel shut-off valve. I changed the first "up-nil" to "Up-3003". My "value down" was "1", where as yours was -1. I left mine as "1" because of that. Then I changed the final value-up from nil to 0. First is what I pulled after binding the switch under options. Second is my attempt at editing. ["d3003pnilunilcd9vd1vpnilvunil"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN17", }, }, ["name"] = "Fuel shut-off valve", }, ["d3003pnilu3003cd9vd1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN17", }, }, ["name"] = "Fuel shut-off valve", },Also, your final results was Nav Lights Flash (Switch). Do I need to add that to mine as well? Edit: Testing. After some testing, changing between value-down 1 or -1 didn't make a difference. If the switch was out of sync, it stayed out of sync. It never force-sync'd to my hardware. It did maintain a nice 1-1 ratio tho, instead of having to down-up to flip the switches back and forth. Edit #2: More testing. So I added (switch) into the name, then tested with 1 and -1. Neither case forced a sync. It simply moved when the switch was flipped. This is still better than only activating when switch is 'flipped on'. Not quite satisfied tho.
  24. Lol glad I double checked the date of original post.. I saw it and was thinking "uhh, now I get my choice of 2 PLUS they're throwing the Dora my way?" Then I saw Sith's post was in June.
  25. Speaking of which... Unless I misunderstood the post I read earlier, that last tweak ought to please quite a few. $1-19 get a choice of Mustang or Dora? ED went from very reserved to very generous these last few days. :)
