yes it is a blast to fly and i'm sure the su-25sm would be too since it's basically an 25A model with upgraded avionics,weapons and iirc upgraded engines.that's kinda why i asked the question.the 25T is great if you want to carry modern weapons but it's a heavy pig to fly and after looking at .lua files and how to edit them and all the other changes to make you have a lot of appreciation for the guys that do mods for the community.i might figure out how to do it eventually but for me it's a pretty steep leaning curve so maybe one day

would it be possible to put the cockpit of the su-25t in the su25a so it would more resemble the su-25sm?

I agree ShuRugal but since that's how the mig -29 radar works is thru the HUD wouldn't that be the most logical to place that on a HDD granted you don't need all your flight data but if you lose the HUD at least you still have radar info on the HDD and can still target other planes.

I don't know the exact technical specs but the su-25sm has a hud and a MFD on the left side of the cockpit there are many pics on the web that show the su-25sm cockpit.:smilewink:

Ok so I have to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade my current computer or hundreds more for a new computer just to run dcs 1.5 or 2.0? And I can't go back to 1.2xx now so it looks like I won't be playing dcs world anymore.

DCS 1.5 WONT LOAD I can not get dcs 1.5 to load after updating from 1.2 xx so uninstalled 1.2xx and did fresh install of 1.5 still will not load.windows says dcs has stopped working. computer specs Pentium ® dual core cpu/E5200@2.50 Ghz ASUS P5G41-M LE MB 4G DDR2 RAM 500G WDC Hard Drive NvIDIA GeForce 9800GT Video Card Logs.zip

As the title says is it possible to put the HUD from the su-25t into the su-25a cockpit?

I've never edited files in DCS but I've done file editing in SF2 series but I'm sure DCS is different,but there must be an area in the planes file that controls the trim function.now whether DCS will let you edit it is another story. There must be somebody in the dcs community that knows how to edit files in DCS World that could help out.i wouldn't mind knowing that procedure myself.

Darkfire you probably already thought of this but I'll say it anyway,could you go into the planes file and edit the line that controls how much trim each button press gives it.

Was just reading the book How to Fly and Fight in the MiG-29 which is one of the books by Jane's "at the controls" series and found an interesting quote in the section about Close Combat.this a direct quote from the book "in a fast moving dogfight,many MiG-29 pilots fly with the missile trigger depressed,so that if the HMS or IRST locks onto a target as it flashes past,the missile will lock on and fire automatically." Is this modeled in the DCS FC3 MiG-29?if it is not ,will it be with the new MiG-29 PFM coming out?

Does anybody know if this is true in RL MiG-29 or just a limit of in game views,track IR,or a bug.i find it hard to believe in RL MiG-29 that the pilot can't see his NAV lights looking out of the cockpit.wouldnt this also hinder checking your six in a dogfight if you can't see around the seat?

Thank you Darkfire and GGTharos for the information.looks like I have some studying to do.:book: EDIT:ok I did some reading about TAS and IAS and if I understand correctly TAS is mainly used for accuracy in navigation and IAS is used for speeds in turns,stalls,landing and approach speeds etc.if I am correct.so in post 81 Ironhand replies to Mr Whippy that if he is in a A2A mode the HUD will show TAS which to me is totally opposite of what I read.if you are in a mode other than NAV mode shouldn't the HUD show IAS since it it mainly used for aircraft speeds while maneuvering?

Ironhand or GGTharos is there someplace I can find information about TAS and IAS and how they relate to combat aircraft?i never knew they made such a difference in combat and I would like to learn more about the difference between them.
