  1. LCtrl + Y toggles the bottom status bar in three modes IIRC, one gives IAS, one gives TAS, and one makes the bar disappear completely.
  2. In the Systems page in Options, there's a box on the left side, second from bottom labelled "Motion Blur." Has an on/off selection.
  3. Real old VSN mod with bad compatibility deferred shading/PBR wise, glass looks weird but at least the rest of it still looks good
  4. Missile launch sounds are shared between all missiles, that is, ones that don't jettison from their rack prior to ignition. Ones that do are given a different launch sound, which is also shared between them.
  5. As proven by the team developing the A-4E mod, the AGM-45 is now somewhat functional. This, thanks to development on the F/A-18C, led me to test whether or not this applied to other ARMs. The Kh-31P proved to follow suit. I have not noticed this missile being functional beforehand.
  6. A ruler is available at all times in the ME and in the F10 menu in-game. In imperial measurements, it measures in feet and nautical miles. It is located on the left sidebar in the ME, and is boxed in red in this photo: A free-form drawing tool would be nice to make notes or what have you. However, I feel that notes can already be made via other means.
  7. I noticed this a while back but by one of the updates it seemed to be gone; good to see it was just turned off in the code. Very much an improvement in regards to no longer having to go through painstaking trial and error object-placement wise; even with an SSD it was hell to do.
  8. Giving it a few edits makes it look like a kickass bedroom poster from the 80s or 90s
  9. yes, if the asset used was free and the mod was free then there is no loss to either party, and by then, it just comes down to politeness if you want to bother asking for written permission. however, if the modder pays for the asset and releases it to people as freeware, those people will get to use that asset / something created by it for free, and as obvious as this is to be stated, that's a problem. there's also a problem if someone starts selling off that mod containing the asset or the asset itself as their own. plus many private mods (including a couple of my own) are meant for looks, not function. i understand the yearning for a flyable f-16 or whatnot, but i don't want an unarmed f-15 with a cloak in the shape of an f-16. and sure, they may be functional, hell, they may have armament galore, but in the end, it's up to the owner of the mod to put up their mod for public download.
  10. number one thing to remember is that many private mods use assets which they couldn't legally distribute their mod with. in other words...sharing is caring, but the legal world doesn't care.
  11. An option in the settings would be a nice thing to have, so you could select between the old and new. However, a monocular NVG system shouldn't take long for someone to get used to, and this isn't really the place to be discussing adding new options to the game, so I won't drag this topic on.
  12. ...i don't see the problem here. this is exactly how a monocular NVG system works. see something too dark for the naked eye? use your left eye. see something too bright for your NVG? use your right eye. it's a better system than having to toggle it off and on.
  13. Thanks for the update! Keep doing what you're doing; it's a blessing to have someone making these little mods. No need to rush.
  14. Considering we're sharing opinions, well, here's mine, with a twist or two to provide a more direct counterpoint. Forgive the cynicism, but I might as well make my points clear. A map that I've personally been flying on for over a decade, waiting for an update to modern standards, would be revoked from my ownership. To add insult to injury, I'd have to pay to get it back, paying likely 40 USD or above judging by how the rest of the maps are priced. All to get some desert map for free, one I never asked for. That's a very odd line of logic. Not true. This is an alternate universe. Anything could happen in either theater. You could do anything you wanted in the mission editor, regardless of the map, provided you used your imagination. I have yet to find a combat simulation worth it's salt that makes you pay for the combat. ED would suffer in the realm of sales across the board if all you could initially do was train yourself. You know what the lot of newbies would say to that? "Bo-o-o-ring." They'd think it was a waste of their time, spending an hour or two to install DCS only to find all they have are training missions. If it was advertised that you started out training only until you paid, then they might as well just close their browser tab and forget about downloading DCS. Your entire determining factor of new vs. old players is whether or not they have ever bought the two maps that are DLC. Now, don't get me wrong when I say this, but most customers don't spend their money on maps just to support Eagle Dynamics. They do it because they want to fly in those maps. Just because I only got the urge to fly in Normandy or Nevada post-2017 doesn't mean I should be punished by having to pull upwards of 40 dollars out of my bank account to get the one theater I initially wanted to fly in back. This is mostly a "me" problem, but there's also the factor of us who have little HDD/SSD space and would not be able to download a different version of DCS at this time. Again, don't worry about me being any sort of angry at your post. I'm just making myself clear as can be.
  15. As I said, it's an indefinite WIP. I have little time to record. I have to rerecord these lines to apply better filters.
  16. they reverse the direction that the thrust of the engine directs itself to, and yes, it's a pretty noticeable feature of the DCS AJS-37.
  17. An indefinite WIP, but there's barely any audio files left to record. Was getting annoyed at the sound quality of radio comms of DCS, with the odd filters and whatnot, so I decided to record & replace the set of lines for the tanker. Tried to make him sound more lively/human, but with the way DCS strings lines together, there's odd breaks in between specific samples. Video below is of the mod in action.
  18. I hate to revive dead threads, but I think this is necessary. It's been quite a while since the problem has been reported (around a year and a half at least) and 1.5 still has this issue. Photo from a flight a few minutes ago, water on low setting, time and date set was January 28, 2017, at 0307 local, new moon
  19. I understand that it's reasonable to make demos for games (especially when word-of-mouth was the predominant way to spread knowledge of said games), but how are they going to go about this with specific modules? It would be unreasonable with the amount of time spent considering what features to limit in a module. Time limited demos wouldn't work either; they wouldn't even get close to giving enough time to make someone with a reasonable thought process decide whether or not to buy a DCS module.
  20. It's the game. I first saw this bug some time in August, on one of those Viggen missions where you have Tornados supporting via SEAD cover. Not sure what version was up to date then; I've never seen it happen on stuff like that transport truck though...but that's just because I haven't noticed, nor do I have CA.
