LOL for six years my simpit parts have been sat in boxes, god bless VR, next project will be a tactile cockpit for VR use as soon as there is a reliable haptic glove product on the market. For now I am firmly in my F18 in VR, If anyone is building a physical simpit I have guages and switches for sale!!

Watching this carefully, same setup I want to use... the "simulator room" is still in the planning statge, construction will hopefully start in a month or two!!!

I am planning a new PC that will be dedicated to my DCS-A10 pit, it needs to support three HD projectors, so I was wondering if anyone has advice or a build that could be reviewed? I plan on building around core I7, 16GB RAM, 120GB SD card, but not sure if I should be purchasing a single high end graphics card and drive it with triple head to go, or go for something like the Matrox M class card that is designed for multi-monitor... so multi-monitor HD and performance... any takers?

Thanks for the positive comments guys! @ Mr Burns, the desktop CNC kit I picked up is from http://www.mydiycnc.com/, although I cannot comment on how well it works yet as I have only just started the electronics hook-up, I can say that I am very happy with the quality of the mechanical parts. And so far it has been super-easy to build.

The CNC hardware is built, it was fairly easy, but as I am an electronics luddite, I fully expect the remainder of the build to be challenging at best... soldering irons at the ready!

OK finally got hold of my simmeters and CNC kit, here is an update. The simmeters arrived well packed and once out of the wrapping the build quality becomes apparent, the black alloy castings are solid and have a real military feel about them, I fired them all up and they work exceptionally well. I did have some casualties, the Altimeter needle had detached in transit, the VVI and ROT indicators did not work; I am talking with simmeters about these issues and they have released software (which I cant download because of a bad link) to fix the VVI and ROT, and they have said they will replace the Altimeter, so I am confident that we will get these problems sorted. The AI, HSI and RHWR all use a slightly different USB cable that I don't yet have so haven't been able to test them yet. The engine instruments look great in action.. The casualties, VVI stuck at 400fpm descent but should be a software fix, and the loose altimeter needle which will be replaced. The untested AI, HSI and RHWR

I just love the ingenuity of home cockpit builders.. the ability to turn out work that is hard to distinguish from the real thing constantly blows me away!! Great work

Sounds like we are both heading in the same direction, I have a pair of cougar mfd's on the shelf, and a cnc router on the way, also purchased a pair of lilliput screens, so I may end up using the MFD's as is if they dont look "too" small on the panel, but I am willing to build up some bezzels if needed.

Good cad there Ryan, what software are you using? And are you manufacturing those yourself?

As it happens, I may have to move shortly, but the beast is modular, the side consoles will be removable and the front section too, so no wall removal needed... flying to Miami tomorrow to pick up Simmeters, MyDIYCNC router and a bag full of mouser switches!! and I expect radio shack will do well from my trip too...

Heh, thanks guys, I know the difference between DP and DT, what I am confused about is if there is a preference of either DT or ST when using GGG and Helios, OutLAW, I will check your vids, thanks !!

What would be the difference between using ST or DT toggle switches when interfacing using GGG GPWiz40 with Helios? is there a difference in how they work with that setup? I want to order switches but don't want to order the wrong types!!

Anton, thanks for that, lets just say that if I was an IR missile, DM's knobs are a straight and level F16 in afterburner... I am locked on and ready to fire... DM, if there is interest enough for you to run off another set, you get a +1 from me!

I have not even figured out how to deploy weapons yet!, so I only fly now and again at the moment, I just cant get on with keyboards and flight sims, I will save all the flying and learning until the sim in state one!!

Hey DM, whats the scoop on these molded knobs?

Anyone else think that this photo looks like the pilot is either very tall or sitting high with the seat motored up to the stops?
