  1. I wouldn't take it too personally flygav......although a lot of people on these forums seem to. And yes you are correct in saying satire doesn't go down very well, I'll leave the reason for that for individuals to work out. Your original post didn't seem too outrageous to me, It's your opinion and you're definitely entitled to make it, especially if it's backed up by real world experience, in fact I would say anyone with any real world flying experience would be entitled to make comments on flight models.
  2. I'm presuming this works OK with with the non beta 1.5.2 release....just about to try....also any new on static object support?
  3. +1 no mission briefing packet, checked usual docs folders....nada
  4. As far as I'm aware it's impossible to completely start a net server in cmd line without some UI interaction. That's why I created this script to re-start our servers when they crashed: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114361 You could you autohotkey as detailed in the thread to carry out the UI interaction.
  5. The problem is if I only go with one GTX and no TH2G, I'm only going to get 2 monitor outputs. The options I have as I see it are: 1. TH2G running off my NV 960 GTX @ 5120 X1080 with X3 Monitors 2. 2 X NV 960 GTX using only 1 GPU but utilizing 3 monitor outputs @ 5120 X1080 with X3 Monitors
  6. The RAF used GR1A's of number 2 (AC) sqn which were fitted out with specialist reconnaissance equipment. Number 16 sqn GR1's were equipped with ALARM missiles for the SEAD role. My understanding is also that the GR1's of the Luftwaffe were not equipped with TIALD pods (Thermal Imaging Airborne Laser Designator targeting pod) and therefore could not self designate LGB's - I was an engineer on Tornado's for 10 years during the 80's and 90's
  7. Thanks but that's not really my question, I'm already exporting MFCD's to 2 Lilliput's. The question really is for the main displays what is the best hardware solution? Matrox TH2G or SLI?
  8. Hi guys, Apologies if this has been discussed before...which it probably has but not recently.... what is everyones opinion on options for a triple monitor setup? TripleHead2Go or Nvidia SLI surround, given the flaky DCS/Nvidia support for SLI mode in DCS at the moment?
  9. There are reportedly some problems with i7's clocked at over 4.6Ghz and HT affecting game performance on single threaded games. HT enabled would not have increased performance in DCS anyway as it would not utilize all those threads (cores) It's nothing really to do with DCS not liking HT, it can't use it. (I cant think of a single game or sim that utilises HT...) Your system should be more than fine with an increase in screen resolution to 3440 x 1440, you may see some decrease in frame rates but not much as the GPU is utilised more now by the new graphics engine.
  10. Ground Avoidance Mode button on HOTAS Does anyone know what this button does? I've looked in the manual and can find no mention of it in the forums...
  11. Thought I'd start a thread on this.... So here's a starter for one....
  12. Zeus67, I see you work for RAZBAM, don't take any of this personally, beta semantics aside the M2000C has the potential to be a great product, there are obviously some things that need sorting out out like missing features and a suspect flight model in places but I'm glad RAZBAM released it when they did. Short of having a large expensive QA team, releasing early and getting community feedback is probably the way to go, I just hope you have the resources to work through the bugs and tweaks in a timely manor. ;)
  13. No not really, I would't like to work where you do if you're saying that Beta's are feature incomplete..... really depends on you're definition, and as I said, it'd being stretched. Beta's are for users to pickup edge case bugs that QA and test did not discover and sometimes to add constructive comments to the usability of an application. Beta's are not some kind of rapid prototyping replacement or Alpha releases which is feature incomplete. Believe me I know....
  14. Yes you are correct, Beta should really be feature complete, a lot of people in the software industry misuse the term Beta release nowadays ;} It should be an Alpha if it's its not fully featured.
  15. So I frequently setup 2 AI and get them to attempt an engagement to see who would come out on top. I did this for the Hawk and L-39 models in 1.5 and to my surprise, the L-39 consistently was able to get a rear aspect close range IR shot off and Kill the Hawk. Now if you look at the performance specs for these 2 aircraft, there seems no way the L39 should be able to do this with similarly matched AI pilots. The Hawks vital statistics are as follows: Maximum speed: Mach 0.84 (1,028 km/h, 638 mph) at altitude Service ceiling: 13,565 m (44,500 ft) Rate of climb: 47 m/s (9,300 ft/min) Thrust/weight: 0.65 VS the L-39: Maximum speed: 750 km/h (405 knots, 466 mph) at 5,000 m (16,400 ft) Service ceiling: 11,000 m (36,100 ft) Rate of climb: 21 m/s (4,130 ft/min) Thrust/weight: 0.37 As you can see the main common indicator here is the thrust to weigh ratio which is almost 1/2 that of the Hawk! The rate of climb is also less than 1/2 that of the Hawk. How can the L-39 even stand a chance in a dog fight? is this to do with the L-39 use of an AFM?
  16. Dito, fly's very nicely, flight model appears quite accurate, a bit washy in yaw at low speeds though, perhaps a tweak needed....
  17. The manual says to apply full forward stick and retract the flaps for short landings. My approach speed is also about 200 KPH but I throttle back before flare and she seems to stick quite well. This vid demos it, landing at the end:
  18. I'm not buying anything until it released with a full flight model....
  19. It could be related to your dns cache, try flushing it by using this command before you start DCS ipconfig /flushdns If that works you could then create a bat file to flush dns then run dcs
  20. The Falklands is not a particularly relevant example of a modern air war...The harriers were limited to AIM 9L's and were more maneuverable at low level (below 10,000ft) than their counterparts. To my knowlege there really is no example, the closest we came in recent history was Korea. DCS is based on an imaginary encounter between east and west that thank god has never happened. I'm sure if it did happen A2A doctrine would change to reflect the results of actual encounters, perhaps these online "games" of ours are being watched with interest....;)
  21. Looking at the tests and benchmarks so far, then yes your correct in saying you'll get better performance out of the box when compared to the 4690 or 4790. I was limited in my upgrade because I didn't want to replace the motherboard and RAM. Good article here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/skylake-intel-core-i7-6700k-core-i5-6600k,4252.html Leakage from water cooling is not a problem as my system is AIO (closed loop) and requires no maintenance or topping up. I saw a baseline reduction from 28C to 23C and an under load (prime 95) reduction from 95C to 81C on my system when compared to the fairly hefty air cooler I had.
