  1. Again.... I just posted my speeds above in DCS which do not agree with your claim that you can only get 430MPH in the Mustang. It's simply not true. As for the Dora.. it needs major work especially above 20000 feet with MW50 on. But that's for another thread/discussion.
  2. I am consistently able to reach 440-445 MPH TAS at 26000 in game given standard atmospheric conditions. The Mustang is actually VERY closely modeled to the first chart you posted. Here's my data collection.
  3. MUSTANGS VS DORAS As for the Mustangs vs Doras mission. It has been fixed completely. FW-190's will be credited for destroying blue side's bridge and tower at Nalchik. As for the complaints we've seen about flak being to widespread. This mission specifically has flak only over the target area cities for both sides. There is PLENTY of airspace to hide from flak and the enemy if you wish to do so.
  4. No worries at all. Wasn't trying to promote our server or hijack your thread. Of course more ideas are always welcome for the entire community.
  5. Everything you mention you like to see is incorporated in our newest mission "Mustangs vs Doras" on the DoW Server. We have 3 hot zones per side right next to each other as well the enemy airfield. The flak zones ore my definitive and make spotting air contacts easy. There are 80+ ground targets per side to attack as well as the air targets in order to reach 150 points for your team first.
  6. Agreed. But most of the time when I lose my sights I also lose my guns... however on the rare occasion I can still fire them it's great to know the iron sight is there.
  7. This +1 *sigh* this is never going to end Sith. I, as well as many of our members, also have zero issue downing AI or human P-51's. The other day on our server I downed a human 51 driver with one quick burst. The AI is almost to easy to kill lol.
  8. You're welcome. Forgive me for being captain obvious again... but conducting a damage modeling test 9 times with varying distances and angles solves absolutely nothing. Um. I never called you an idiot. In fact you are the only one who has decided to resort to name calling. As for real world experience I'm not getting into that as those that know me know my experience with aircraft. However I will say (whether you believe me or not, don't care) I have shot twin .50's off the bow of my Destroyer when I served back between '01-'06 so you ain't the only one who's fired one BUT none of that has anything to do with convergence and firing at purposefully armored aircraft designed to take hits. Actually to the opposite point. My reply is to voice my opinion about your opinion. My opinion is that your opinion is "ridiculous" based on my experience in DCS. I'm just as entitled to an opinion as you are. Or did I miss the disclaimer in your OP that stated only people who agreed with your opinion are allowed to post replies? Any how, I see this has turned into a pointless back and forth so I'll take my leave. Please... continue without me.
  9. This is purely subjective and based solely on your opinion and skill level. Self admittedly your shots were fired from greatly varying ranges from 250 to 500!!!!! yards.. Did you get your sniper scope out for those? What experience or authority do you have to make the suggestion that 150-190 rounds is far to many to down a plane from BEHIND? You do realize that angle off and deflection shots cause WAY more damage to opponents aircraft/engine vs trying to hit from directly behind the enemy? Not to mention the issue of your convergence. You have a 300 yard convergence on the 51... you hitting inside of 300 yards and ESPECIALLY outside of it at ranges of 500 yards reduces GREATLY the strength and lethality of the rounds hitting your target. Beyond 300 yards your rounds are spreading out and not hitting in tight groupings, as well, the rounds have lost energy greatly and don't hit with as much power. All things you need to take into consideration before making blanket statements like "50 cal Ballistics/Aircraft Damage Model Ridiculous" I have personally killed a human pilot's engine with only a quick burst and killed the pilot with a perfectly flyable plane left BOTH due to well placed (lucky) deflection shots. Regardless, perhaps there is another sim out there that can better recreate your requested damage modeling and the many other things you seem to have problems with in DCS, if so... have you considered flying that one instead. If there isn't another sim, perhaps being happy with what you have is in order at some point. <edit> P.S. Does it look like I care about my rep? Downgrade me all you want brother.
  10. Damage does affect aerodynamic characteristics of your aircraft. Very evident. That being said I do feel it should fine tuned more as well as connecting the visual with the virtual.
  11. LOL I think anyone that believes that is high. :megalol: Why would they have chosen random background art for their site, ESPECIALLY if everything on there is WWII era except for the Phantom. That's like IL-2 putting jet artwork on their site but releasing WWII aircraft... Plus they've all but confirmed they are doing prop and jet era aircraft. I hope they DO pursue the PTO and we can have carrier ops with WWII aircraft in DCS. But that's my opinion, I KNOW I KNOW.... others want jets. Get over it, they are making both. I'm getting tired of hearing "They just need to make jets, others are already creating WWII aircraft". FIRST, no one has made jack yet. VAEO is claiming to make random warbirds housed at Duxford but we ain't seen nothing yet, and my guess is we won't for quite some time. SECOND, My other guess is we probably won't see a third of the list they have published and that third won't be complete until 2019 or 2020 if not later. THIRD, many people would be happy with other much more popular WWII planes being developed, so the more developers creating WWII birds, the better for us prop heads. I'm not saying I expect LN to solely do WWII warbirds, I know they aren't of course BUT I do hope their efforts are evenly balanced toward both era of aircraft. That balance will keep the most people happy.
  12. I didnt say dogfighting was boring please dont put words in my mouth. I said that creating a mission that would seem to appease you would be boring. Perhaps you can share your own experiences in the mission in the future rather than "someone" elses.
  13. Sorry you feel that way but clearly others do not. If all anyone wished to do was dogfight all we would need is two bases 20 miles apart and no ground units.... BORING. not gonna happen.
  14. With all due respect these missions are bigger in scope and have been created to support any number of human player interaction. We are using pretty much full real setting so say bye bye to map icons and other similar things. As Robo has already stated it's very easy to find either AI air opposition as well as human opposition if the mission briefings are read by the players and the introduction of flak over combat areas containing enemy ground units also makes it easier spot air contacts if you wish to dogfight. HOWEVER, the main objective of the online mission ( which can support much bigger online number participants) is to achieve 100 or 150 points for your side. The fastest and easiest way to do this is to attack ground units and objects designated by the mission briefing. If all anyone wants to do is attack air units and dogfight, they are more than welcome to as long as no cheats are being used and no one is masking themselves by flying through trees there is nothing wrong with solely dogfighting, just bare in mind if you wish to help your side win the map..... you won't fair so well if you are only downing one plane per flight at best. The other team could easily be taking out multiple ground targets per flight and racking up points for their side. As for vulching, if someone chooses to linger over an enemy airbase to strafe at planes taking off or taxiing that's his choice... If you can't stand that you can switch teams to simply fix the issue BUT please know he can't vulch very long before 1) he runs out of ammo. 2) he gets killed by your teammate or your friendly AI already in the air. 3) He gets killed by flak or AAA. Sometimes one of most rewarding things to do is scramble and take out the vulcher. Sorry "someone you know" wasn't having fun during the mission but these missions are in keeping with any classic full real WWII server from WWIIO to IL-2 1946 to now DCS. Hope you see the intent of these missions and can enjoy them as much as we do :joystick:
