  1. Another EA-6B video you might want to check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPeQCxWI5Os
  2. +1, it's totally cool just to fly the plane in A-10C. It works well as a "flight sim" too, not just as a "combat sim".
  3. By the way, does the US have a comparable weapon? The only one I can think of is the Maverick but that's much heavier.
  4. My first sim was TFX, but I didn't really understand it back then (didn't know enough english). The first sim I actually really got into was F-22 Air Dominance Fighter and subsequently Total Air War, and I still say it's one of the best air combat sim game out there.
  5. 5 Weapons Systems to Reduce Collateral Damage By David Hambling In the early days of the coalition air war over Libya, finding and destroying ground vehicles was easy because they were moving through the open desert. As the campaign progressed, Muammar Gaddafi's forces nestled closer to cities—and civilian buildings—to gain protection. Tactics like these in Iraq and Afghanistan have crated a boom industry in weapons that can strike targets without causing collateral damage. Technology has come a long way, and these are five of the best weapon technologies to do it. But the fact is air strikes will always come with a price. 6. Novorossiyk (along with Gelendzhik) has the shortest runway in the game area. They behave the same way, so it's not the problem with the Novorossiyk runway. By the way, I think I got the hang of it. I set up a scenario for myself, with rainy weather and a fully loaded A-10, and when I touch down with a speed of 120 knots, I can manage to stop the plane after 4-5 kms. Still looks long compared to what that chart suggests, but at least enough for the shortest runway in the game in bad weather and loaded plane. (Well, the shortest marked runway, that is ... there are three regional airports with ~3km runways).
  7. Are you referring to this? Hmm, according to that, 6km should be more than enough. Strange. Anyway thanks for the responses, everyone.:)
  8. Hi! 1. If I have external drop tanks, I connect it to the fuel system by just switching the appropriate boost pump switch when I switch the other boost pump switches? Or is there something else? 2. The first training mission ends when the plane is powered up, and the next one starts when you're on the runway. I'm having trouble with what's happening between. :) So I ask for taxi clearance and the ATC tells me to taxi to runway X. So, uh, do I taxi to the runway, stop at the red sign, and ask for takeoff there, or do I roll out and line up on the runway and ask for takeoff there? I tried just rolling out and lining up but the ATC kept repeating "cannot clear for takeoff" or something and when I ask at the red sign, nothing happens. I haven't tried it too many times, but so far it was kinda random if it worked or not. 3. What's the supposed landing distance (or whatever it is called) for the A-10? I've been practicing landing at Novorossiysk airport, and its runway is just barely long enough. I touch down right at the edge of runway at 135 knots and with full wheel- and airbrakes I can still just barely stop at the end. 5,9km is barely enough or am I doing something wrong?
  9. Just chiming in to say that the exact same thing happened to me at the end of the Landing Training Mission (can't remember what airfield it was, but there's only one to land on in that mission). I landed, taxied to the end of the runway, turned right to a taxiway and got stuck in the concrete. I eventually managed to free myself by applying full throttle and repeatedly engaging and disengaging nosewheel steering, which resulted in the nose wheel breaking off. :) The plane started to move afterwards, but of course I couldn't control it without a friggin nosewheel. :) EDIT: Ah, just realised I made a screeshot of the stuck situation. Don't know if it will be useful but here it is:
  10. So does this game reward playing hide&seek with the enemy, NOE flying, pop-up attacks, etc, or you just have to fly forward and blow stuff up? Most videos I've seen of it are people playing it like Extreme Assault, and not like Comanche 3. Seems like you can take quite some damage too.
  11. Related question: is there a way to preview the paint jobs (before flying)? In LO you could do that since there was a 3D image of the plane, but now it's just a schematic.
  12. By the way, aren't only explosive rounds kick up dirt anyway? If GA's video is any indication, the current amout is okay (if it's the standard party mix of 6 AP + 1 HE) (I don't know myself yet, I've been playing for three days and haven't used a single weapon yet :) )
  13. Thanks. As I said it's scenes from a game, and I want to show it to a relative who doesn't play games (so I record it and add the subtitles) and doesn't speak russian (or english, but I can translate from english myself), and I want to make sure he doesn't miss anything.
