  1. Currently with the DCS group that I am part of we log our flight hours manually so that our web site displays data such as flight duration, aircraft, departure/arrival ICAO etc etc. Having come from a background of FS9 & FSX there were several third party ACARS programs that could extract flight data from the sim and automatically log any data within a database on a web site. This made things very simple for all concerned. My question is aimed more to those that know what flight data is available as an export from DCS. Is there a definitive list of files etc that I would need to look at to connect to this data. There must be some sort of flight data available because LOTatc connects to DCS and displays real time movements. Hopefully someone can help
  2. cheers Grimes. I will get the lads to try this.
  3. Hi guys, We have recently started using SLmod on our server. One of the reason for using it is that we tend to run a high percentage of missions that have time critical elements to them. It does't matter how many times we tell people not to join the server, there is always that one who just does and in doing so he starts the mission timers which then messes the whole mission goals up. One of our members has used SLmod before and said there was a mission pause feature so that the mission is paused at start. We tried it last and all workd fine when an admin was in the pit, but as soon as someone else joined a slot, the mission un paused. The admin had to keep manually pausing the mission after each person joined so that once everyone was in the pit he could then release the mission. Is there any way that it can be setup so that when paused at start, it will stay paused no matter how many people join, and will have to be manually unpaused by an admin? Thanks Richard
  4. Cheers Jester. Where might I find file that so that I can test it locally on single player
  5. Hi guys, The issue with the BDU-33 is that in the real world on a firing range these small practice bombs emit a small amount of smoke on ground impact that lasts for approx 10 seconds. This burn time is purely for position identification so that an exact impact point can be found by triangulation from two spotting towers. However, in DCS, the smoke from a single bomb lasts for 5 minutes or so and has enough smoke volume to obscure the target area making it impossible to carry out another run until the smoke has subsided. Is there any way this could be toned down so that A)not such intense smoke and B) only lasts for say 20 seconds max. If you are not able to code this as I guess it would be a really low priority, could you point me at the appropriate lua file that needs editing and what part of said file to edit. Thanks Richard
  6. I fly on the very same server that Dave is trying to connect to and I currently use Starways Black Sea map with no issues. I was on there last night with the rest of the gang. That is until I got shot down. That points to it NOT being a map texture issue.
  7. We already have three versions running on our server at the same time. Okay, they are 2.0, 1.5 release and 1.5 beta and all seems good with that as it is now. I guess that due to DCS 2.0 having the T4 graphics engine it will be more memory hungry than either 1.5 versions so if we are able to get three instances of 2.5 running side by side, each using a different map I can see that we may be using more memory than current, but until we are able to try it no one really knows what the drop is likely to be, if any. Currently our DCS servers are consistently near the top of ED's server list as regards ping rate so we must be doing something right with the setup so I guess it will be a suck it and see situation once 2.5 is released. I have all fingers crossed. It may well be that this plan will not work and all server hosting groups will be stuck with using one map at a time, which really would be a step back as regards opening up DCS multiplayer to the wider community once the new maps are released. Lets wait and see what comes out in the wash though
  8. Thank you Buzzels. I will give that a go when I get five mins. Does seem like a possible method though. Will look at that map Doctor
  9. Hi guys, looking good with the Normandy stuff. Well done. I am hoping that Wags or someone will have some sort of answer to the following. I am part of a group that have a dedicated flight DCS flight server that is both for our use and public use. Currently with the three versions of DCS (1.5, 1.5 beta and 2.0) we are able to have all three running at the same time on our server. This is absolutely fantastic as it gives loads of options throught the week. When everything is brought up to the same T4 standard and all running under the 2.5 banner what will be the options for people like us as DCS community server hosts? Obviously I understand that for a pilot to see and asset pack stuff, they will have to have them installed locally as well. No issue with that. Once the flight server is running 2.5, will ALL maps be active at the same time so that we could have missions created that allow people to fly on the same server but in different parts of the DCS world or will it be a case of only ONE map will be able to have active at a time? If 2.5 will only be able to have one map running at a time, is there any way that we would be able to run 3 instances of 2.5 on our server so that we could then effectively have all three maps running at the same time and pilots could join whichever session they require? Any input would be welcome. Thanks guys Richard
  10. I had this same problem. Mine was caused by having the Reshade(sweet fx) mod installed. Removed that and the mission started no problem. Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks guys. DR, looks like it was the Reshade mod. Removed that and all worked fine. Richard
  12. Installed my free A10-C Red Flag campaign tonight. All seemed to install correctly and in Module Manager I can see the campaign together with the correct serial number. When I try to play the campaign, the campaign screen shows it as being the only campaign I have for DCS2, which is correct, but it shows as Inactive. If I click the Next button as if to start the mission I get a message pop up that states: "This mission requires activation" Any ideas.
  13. Just set this up and in throws of having a look. Excellent resource. Cheers bud.
  14. I would guess that is a simple density or opacity calculation that needs changing
  15. Why not use voice commands. I use Voice Attack to do various tasks as don't have luxury of loads of spare joystick buttons. Would be very easy to do with voice control.
  16. Nah mate. 77% free space. I am downloading all the DCS files at the moment to do a re-install. Have done GPU drivers etc.
  17. Thanks guys. One of my thoughts was isp problems, and that could be the case, but that doesn't explain why I am also getting the big fps hit when offline compared to what I used to have. I can only dream of the pc specs you guys are running. Re overclocking. Have never done that with the card, so what I am using now is what I have used since it was bolted in. Have read some horror stories where folks have overclocked things and caused temps to rise to a point where it causes more issues than it cures. Last night I removed anything to do with the GPU re drivers etc and tonight I will be doing a complete driver re-install, complete DCS re-install. Lets see how that goes. I feel the root of the issue is the crappy pc. Hopefully when 1.5 comes out it will call on more GPU resources rather than needing PC processing power. It would just be nice to be able to do multiplayer without wondering when the 'fps missile' is going to strike.
  18. Last night on our Multiplayer Server I was sat on the pan in cockpit I was getting between 1 & 3 fps. Obviously this was then playing hell with my head tracking etc. I tried using Low settings but cockpit stuff is unreadable and external visuals are like a crappy FS9 install without much fps gain at all. Disconnected a couple of times but still no good. Got booted off in the end as DCS froze due to lack of fps. Little background. I am sadly only running a low end PC (HP p6-2002uk) which is only an AMD E2-3200. Not the fastest even by slow pc standards. When I started with DCS two years ago I could happily get 6-10 fps in multiplayer and up to 18 in the Fast Mission (offline) using the Medium graphics settings on the onboard graphics. Our VAs missions in the early days were not as complex as they are now. To help things along I upgraded to 12gb RAM from 4gb and slapped a nvidia GForce GTX 750Ti into an already cramped case. Wow what a difference that made. I could run at around 40fps offline and around 15-20 on multiplayer with the same Medium settings. This was lightening fast compared with what I was used to. Anyways, this year things have slowly gone down the pan re fps. The only thing I can put it down to is DCS upgrades that have increased the graphical complexity somewhere as I am using the same mods as before (have even tested with no mods) and have even begun stopping un-wanted background services and turning AV off. Both of which I never used to do. Still no better. After the unuseable fps last night I fired Fast Mission up offline and was getting 18fps in the air with 4 A10s around me and a bunch of red stuff on the ground using Medium settings. I am at a loss with it now as I have de-fragged the system to within an inch of it's life and still no good. Can't afford to do much else with current PC and really have to wait until DCS1.5 or DCS 2 comes out to see how the new system affects pc performance before I go spending money only to find out it was a waste. If anyone has any pointers for a short term fix, apart from the obvious 'Spend some money' I would be grateful. One of our members has sugested a skin issue. Possibly, but we have been using them for over 12 months now. Thanks for any help.
  19. Hi bud, basically no you can't as yet run one without having a GPU of some kind installed. We have our own dedicated server that one of our members sorted for us. He is a server engineer by trade. We have exceptionally good ping rate. Obviously the beauty of not needing a GPU will be that essentially the server could run multiple instances of DCS thereby having different options for the most discerning pilots out there. We have got around only being able to have one instance of DCS running by having separate areas on the Georgian map for different scenarios when the server is open to the public. This future server enhancement will be, assuming ED pull it off with Edge, a massive gain on what we have now. You are most welcome to pitch up on TSpeak when Jim(server guru) is online and have a chat. Richard
  20. Very interesting indeed. Both sides captured and tested each other's aircraft during WW2. A German pilot virtually handed a FW190 to the RAF when he got lost whilst flying over the Bristol Channel and landed at RAF Pembrey, South Wales. Luckily he was captured before he could set fire to it after he realised his mistake.
  21. Updated today. Current Hosted DCS Version ----> 1.2.14.36041 [Effective 22/01/2015 ]
  22. Very nice Matt. How is the heat in the loft now it's winter?
  23. Just to jump in here. I have the x52 pro. Yes it is prob inferior to the hog stick but I love it. I also use Voice Attack voice recognition software that means I can now map hundreds of switch combos to either stick buttons or voice commands.
  24. We now have our own dedicated flight server for use of any DCS pilots wishing to use it. Currently the server is only passworded on a Tuesday & Thursday evening between 19:00 - 23:00 UK time, as between these times it is reserved for our members. Outside these times there is no password and public access is granted. We encourage pilots to use our Teamspeak 3 channels (links on our home page) whilst on server, and be respectful to other pilots. The server is set to auto-ban/kick people who do not do so. Please enjoy this new service that we are able to offer the DCS community, and who knows, you may even wish to join our group. This thread will be updated with the current DCS version that is being hosted on the server as soon as possible after a version update has been made. Any questions, please catch us if we are on Teamspeak, or PM NeilWillis or Richard Rodgers on this ED forum.
