  1. Sorry about the delay, been busy with aluminium, redoing the side consoles and front console. Idea with the laser was to strip all the wiring out and just build it my way in logical steps. Hopefully it will make it easier for new guys buying chinese lasers.

They are great, all the parts are there, just looks like they build them with the lights out.

The moshi board was just shite, it also controlled the stepper motors for the x and y axis. Hang on will take a pic. In a perfect world no probs, factory set-up, would work, the 50.3mm focal lens on mine was set at 47mm hence I went for the z table so i could adjust it.

In the uk the power supply is 240v ac so obviously we need a step down as the board, stepper motors and chip use 24v ac and the digital readout requires 5v ac as does the lcd lights and laser pointer. (these are adidtional, my choice not everyones.)

First thing was to rip the wires out and put in the 24v ac supply.

    wiring%20sorted.jpg

    and feed the control board.

Then it was make the 24v buses and the 5v buses.

This was the 24v bus for the x and y. I know the wires look kinda scary but it's logical steps.

  2. An explanation of side refraction might be due also.

AtaliaA1 you are correct m8, refraction was the wrong word to use, I should have said distortion.

@wormeaten I have a 4k curved screen 55 inch television, but it doesn't suit my build at the moment. I'll chop and change over the next few months I'm quite sure. The 3 X 27 = 81 inch wide, looking down, I have a 27 for helios which covers the the front gauges, and Trackir5 for the side panels until I have finished building them. Remember I said "it is one opinion, only mine", a 55 inch TV is a problem for me right now to build it in.

  3. Yeah LC34 for the timebeing, I have put it back in the livingroom. Now if I could afford 3 X 55inch curved screens that would be something. Maybe in the future, but I'm caught between a rock and a hard place for the time being. Without going into it in great detail, Softth is a dx9 dll which allows you to set up multiple monitors with ease and enables bezel correction for mis-matched monitors. Really handy bit of kit unfortunately its DX9 so we don't know what the future holds.

  4. I'm with you two guys on this, but just because we can't see it doesn't mean there was nothing agreed between them. I think we sit on the backburner until someone from Eagle Dynamics come back with a statement. We could be wrong-footed here. I mean we are nothing to to with ED just we are pointing out our observations.

  5. I bought a 55 inch 4k curved screen with latest HDMI capabilities purely for DCS and running it from a single GTX980ti. This is only my opinion though, I am building a full A10c cockpit and I don't get the same effect looking into the 1 big curved screen that I used to get looking into the 3 X 27 inch screens, they were like middle, left and right and softth stopped any side refraction. With 1.5 going dx11, I think its going to make softth null. People might tell you everything is hunky dorey with their rigs, I have found it a problem and constantly have to try a work around, so I'm not pissing on your parade, at the moment I can't wait for 1.5 to come out so I can put some stability in.

  6. Was there an signage or literature indicating that the software could be purchased for the home PC, or specifically mentioning ED?

I have been over that site few times, using their search facility, Eagle Dynamics or DCs does not come up in any shape or form. Can someone from USA try this. Neither is it in their related links which give credit to contributors.

I could be wrong but I for one can't find anything. I am not going to go through each and every blog post, their search engine using basic bolean logic should bring up hits but it doesn't.

  7. Since we don't have any flyable aircraft like that, you need better argument. ;)

Could not have put it better myself. cichlidfan. We don't have B2's and B1's to bomb the shit out of Georgia. Take off from TBlisi, head over the mountains and get painted with radar, you'll sniff a new arsehole. If you manage to make it. instead of thinking about destruction, try thinking skill set, survive.

  8. I have been an AMD disciple all my life but I went i3570k, so I'm not gonna slag this and slag that. My i5 3570k overclocked, its only 4 cores but suits DCS well, coupled with a gtx980ti its stonking. My mate had an amd FX-9590 4.70GHz (5.00GHz Turbo) Socket AM3

on test and said do you want to try it, I was ok, hopefully won't take an activation, anyway we sorted that. Bottom line it was good for certain applications, shit for DCS, ran hotter than a whores heart, would never hit 5.00GHz as advertised. In all honesty, it's down to your interpretation of what is acceptable. Ask Skate he runs his AMD at mental speeds, he runs 5 monitors I think, I found something eventually in Intel that in my opinion for DCS was better value for money.

  9. Sounds like an impacted thread, I cut them quite often in the cockpit build but some times, the thread kicks off in a bizarre movement and it sticks, everyone here has probably had the same issue. it's not a problem, per si, you have to just "I know you have a £200.00 stick" but use a rubber mallet or hide mallet, I know it goes against everything you think about, and soft tap it back, then look at the thread, its easy sorted with a mini file. Trust me the warthog is a solid stick, gimbal is shit, but thread is not an issue. :joystick:

  10. The Phantom Pain Game.

Got a brand new unused PC key for this with my GTX980ti, I'll never use it, does anyone want it?

Sorry wrong part of the forum can mod move it, Thank you.

  11. Skates got a point here. This is not my games machine that I use for the sim, it's recommended to remove all the drivers, now I did that yesterday on this machine, and it was only when the machine was rebooting that I had a flashback to "do you want to remove all AMD software, it took out my AHCI drivers, my USB 3 drivers, my ability to access 5 GB hard drives, tried system restore and it just laughed at me, failed to carry out system restore, no files have been changed. I loved amd cards, value for money, performance wise they rocked but I've bought a 980ti, simply because I was able to take it out of the box, set source on 55 inch telly et voila, working. :)

  12. Calum your finding the same issue I had, the panels don't fit in the rails, I'm going to have to rebuild my side consoles by at least another inch wide. It's not rocket science, just a glitch. By the way your skin on the monster has really turned out well, cudos m8, I think I will go with Hans's solution.

  13. I don't know where it is going to go from here. I needed a solution for 3 x 27 with bezel correction and I think it was PeterP who pointed me at this. It was so easy to set up. There was a guy who took the open source files, I can't remember who it was and it was his intention to make it dx10 but that seems to have died a death. I took the core files and had a look at them, I'm a linux kinda dude so I was totally lost with the DX api. To me softth was a simpler version of eyefinity and 3 d surround, it filled a niche. It didn't work if I crossfired my cards. I might be totally wrong here so i will apologise in advance, does eyefinity not allow you to put all these monitors together in that configuration?

  14. Your absolutely spot on here Anton. Make it simple I have Dimebug's plans and so long as I'm not interfering with Dimebugs Intellectual Property, pm me and I will send them. I have 150MB pipe here. Cudos to Dimebug spot on, I am however redoing them to take in the wider rail

  15. You know, I tried turbocad, my dad swears by it Mike and Thick8, I just could not get my head around it. Shoot me in the foot if you want. Its horses for courses here, I found it clunky. Here's a cracker, My dad, he's 85 by the way, we need to sell the penthouse and did you see the photos. I was like no, let me pull them up, saw them and was like your having a bubble. I'm pissin myself laughing and dad goes on one. Anyway he comes back and says have a swatch at that, I was gobsmacked, redid all the photos, correct angle and focus, so turbocad in the hands of an 85 year old rocks

  16. Ya sure I knew exactly what you meant with your accurate description of what you wanted.

That why sever others all so asked what the heck are you talking about.

You have a problem get over it or deal with it but don't bother to directly ask me any thing else. I personal could not care less if you do or don't purchase any plans finish your cockpit or not. Your a moron.

I maybe a moron but I'm a clever one. I'm not going toe to toe with an idiot. I am MSCE, MCP, I hold a masters degree in ethical hacking, I would just bore you if I carried on. show your cards, what you done? Open quesion.:P

  17. the attached document was shared on this board before. i couldn't find the original post of the document's owner to link to so it is attached instead. credit goes to.. the name of the member escapes me, you know who you are, thanks :)

and yes 7.75' is not 145mm but 146.05mm depending on how you build things can be quite critical. or not.

lol you got to be anal about the space. Anton but your right can make a huge difference. You know, i use 8mm risers cut out on the laser, I think I am having to make the side concoles wider. Calum are you using Dimebugs plans

  18. Cefs thats an excellent link. Don't be offended in the slightest when I say what I am going to say. For me at 56 years of age, I'm sure Babbage stayed next door to me :) My dad wrote Cobol and Fortrans for BP and ICI so I got into computers when a modem was the size of a small domestic table. Dad used Turbocad, now thats why I stayed away from Cad programmes, God, it was horrendous. I had never used autocad until Anton said "Give it a go" I was more used to knocking something up on paint. I am a great believer in not reinventing the wheel. It works for me, draw it in DWG, save it as DXF, stick it down the network to my laser, job done. It's a tried and tested, I remember many moons ago when I had to assign ram memory locations just to get a programme to work but thats another story.

  19. So this is where it goes tits up. The Chinese do not use the colour coding on wires like we do. They had 2 red wires to the switch. One of them has to be live, one has to be neutral, they had red to both.

    2%20reds_1.jpg

This is power on, 110/240v depends where you are, trust me it only gets worse, but if I can help someone I will. Off to bed parte deux tomorrow

  20. Right here we go, I was asked to do this so I will.

    The cheap Chinese 40w laser:

    New%20Laser.jpg[/url]

I looked at it and thought it was wired by Stevie Wonder So I thought lets rip it back to basics. Honestly I thought WTF.

So I ripped off the helix wire (that thing that covers a multitude of things)

    earth%20problem.jpg

I was left with this, is the PSU PWM so that it sends a low signal to the laser to make it fire, I searched high and low and never got an answer, there are so many Chinese PSU's around but majority of them that are ATX use PWM, it's a cheap way of getting around the on/off 5v. (Please correct me if you think I'm wrong)

So I started ripping the wires out. Quick shot of the avometer gave me the following:

  21. "Yah, Autodesk has pissed me off royally. mad.gif Now they demand you rent AutoCAD. Monthly or yearly payments to keep it operational. No more just buying and forgetting. I have a real hate on for that company even though I have been using it everyday for 23 years. It's just plain old corporate greed at it best. Wait til Microsoft starts doing the same thing now that they have us by the short and curlies.mad.gif"

I think with windows 10 they will go down that route (free for a year shit) but we can only wait and see. I remember Adobe going offline for 2 days because of a DDOS attack and people were up in arms because they could not access their work. Hence I use Autocad 2014 (it updates to 2015 anyway) and CS6 all on DVD here, both programmes do exactly what I need so there is no point in upgrading.
