  1. Awesome, I am very much looking forward to this! I was very impressed with the EB and the thought of adding weapons and an AFM...:D. Those are the only things missing from the module in my opinion. Keep in mind, I personally only require you to work 6.5 days a week on this for me. :smilewink:
  2. Android For any users wondering about if this works for android: Where I'm at right now is that I can get perfect 1-way from the Android (Galaxy S5 Active) to the sim, but the display of the CDU just flickers in once in a while (with correct, updated info) then goes back to blank. Also, none of the switches update to the current position in the sim. My iPhone works fine running them side by side, so I don't think it's a failure of setup on my part. It's probably that the app needs some more work. Hope this helps. Let me know what you guys results are. Or if anyone has anything I could try.
  3. RAM is of much higher importance with NTTR. The map file itself is about twice the size of the entire previous DCS install including the Black Sea map. The amount of data that is needed to keep up at any point is much more. I have 6GB of RAM and it really doesn't cut it. Video card is of great importance as well. The amount of objects on screen when you're flying in Las Vegas is tremendous. 1.2 was much more processer dependent. 1.5 and 2.0 are actually lighter on the processor, but they also have more visual effects, so the weight on the video card is more so.
  4. I've tried it and it didn't work. I'm fairly certain it is not implemented yet.
  5. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they said the new explosion effects were not going to be available right at release. [emoji20]
  6. Congratulations, you picked the right sim :)! What controls/joystick are you working with?
  7. This is an interesting conversation. I think that we can all agree that (besides lighting) the initial problem is that you are flying with a screen door 3' in front of you that has 1920x1080 holes in it (assuming that's your res.). That's not the worst part. Even if you see an aircraft or tank that takes up part of one of those holes. The screen door will average the color of said vehicle with the average of the color of the background (anti-aliasing). So unfortunately a sim developer really has it working against them. You can, of course, try turning off anti-aliasing -that might help when it's more than half a pixle- but than your cockpit will look like it's built out of Lego's. Scaling is a good option but with obvious inherent drawbacks. I will admit, I am putting a fair amount of stock in DCS 2.0 with the lighting. I think the image generator will give a lot more tools to the devs for reflectiveness. I personally feel that it may be about even for me with the sim, as I am near-sighted. So focusing on a monitor is easier for me than focusing on an aircraft that is 5+ miles away. Although, when I drive I'm still surprised at how far away I see stuff, considering I can't read a speed limit sign more than about 400ft away. Real life is just so immersive !
  8. Did you get the issue fixed? Did you try anything different?
  9. I feel compelled to add to what Devrim mentioned; that the main rotor turns and tail rotor push the opposite direction than they do in the Huey. You give rear and left cyclic with left pedal in the Huey; it's opposite in the mi-8 cyclic: rear right and right pedal. If you just slowly start adding cyclic and 'feel' what direction the helicopter is moving and compensate rather than 'pre-loading' your controls it may help. You talked about controls being sensitive, the mi-8 is actually much more sluggish in control, so it helps to be more proactive with it. As Pizzicato stated, make sure your stabilizers are turned on and that will help greatly. I would just start out in the air and try flying it that way first. That should show you if anything is wrong with your controls too.
  10. It's also easier to set the aircraft group to the task "nothing" that way they don't have cas or cap or any other tasking setup in the advanced waypoint menu by default.
  11. DCS World Podcast: From the 476th vFG Very cool guys. I've recently gotten into podcasts and was looking for this very thing. Great job hosting Dojo! I was geared up to hear a pretty dry, lame episode, this far exceeded my expectations. One thing I would like is to have some stories of missions, maybe have a 2 or 4 man flight from a squadron talk about some tight situations they've been in and what tactics they used. Also, what is the episode schedule? Monthly?
  12. It was awhile ago that an update removed the "LANTERN" system, because they use the sniper XT now. I think the problem has been there since. Try removing the stuff on those slots and re-adding them. It only seems to do it for me with old missions.
  13. Agreed, I have done this in the Dora, and instead of crashing because of the dive angle, I crash because the bomb inflicts too much damage on me to keep flying, lol!
  14. I never had trouble with blowing up because of a "slight bump" in either version. I've had my blades chop them selves off when I was going faster than I should, and then made a drastic maneuver. I think battery power is modified for sure because you can start the aircraft without ground power more than one time on battery in BS2. Of course you mentioned it being like the first patch of BS1. In that case, I have to believe that things have changed from that point for either version. The only reason I would recommend getting BS1 over BS2 is if your computer is kinda slow. BS1 will run better on a slower machine. You can't actually get BS1 anymore though, if you didn't already have it. You can only actually purchase BS2. Hope this helped.
