good work Sydy. Downloaded your checklist and just awaiting the release now 🙂

Talking of the Starter and Boost coil buttons, in the Spitfire I have these mapped to my Warthog throttle on the two "ENG OPER" switches which are sprung loaded into the centre position. They work great for the Starter and Boost coil buttons. You actually have to make the "V" with your fingers and push both switches forward at the same time. Feels realistic in VR.

What I'm hoping for in the Mossie is a similar set up, but as we have two engines and four buttons, I'm hoping they will work similar to the Spitfire where the buttons work if the covers are open but don't if the covers are closed. This way I hope to map those same switches to both the left and right engine buttons at the same time, but use the covers as a kind of modifier so when starting the left engine the covers would be open allowing the switches to work on the left engine buttons, but not the right as these covers would be closed. When starting the right engine, the right covers would be open allowing the buttons to work but the covers on the left engine would be closed isolating the buttons on the left engine which would already be running! Hope this makes sense! Hope it works in practice when the Mossie drops too!!

    bart,

Pretty nice suggestion! You don’t need four buttons. You may use the same combination as the Spit for the port engine and add a “Modifier” on the same button combination for the Starboard engine.

I use the Stick pinky button as Modifier.

I will give it a try for sure.

    tks,

    Very cool! Thank you.

What's the "V for victory" item mean? It sounds like a muscle memory aid, like the "clockwise checks" on entering the cockpit in a P-47.

    Hi Yoda,

That’s exactly what razo+r said. To start (the real plane) you make a V with your fore finger and middle finger. 😉

Just like the “V for Victory” on the spitfire. Btw, remember to close the covers! 8-)

    Enjoy it!

  3. Hi gents,

Anxious for the Mosquito, I made a Quick Checklist for us. I used two “Pilot’s Notes” for it, one from 1945 and another from 1950.

it is now available on the user files download page: Mosquito Quick Checklist (Old Link - File disappeared)

I hope you guys like it.

Looking forward to flying it at treetop level!

PS: Just uploaded vs 1.1 and its Night Ops version.

    All the best,

  4. Gents,

It worked aok now. The main problem was that the CAT 2 was full of parked F-18s. I went for the CAT 1 this time and never turned on the light until Connected on the Cat.

    Tks for the help.

    All the best,

  5. Hi guys,

I tried to fly the first mission on the Fear the Bones Campaign and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Crank it up, taxi to CAT (2 and 3 tested), follow the shooter instructions, connected to cap, the keeps signaling to revup with two fingers up, I do so (with AB and not, tried both), Salute him and no deal.

All lights on (night ops), tried kneeling and not kneeling (he signaled "bar up").

    Any tips?

    Tks

Just a guess from the trailer(s) and behind the scenes footage (on YouTube).

There are set pictures showing Cruise and the actor playing Goose's son in a Tomcat with "islamic markings" in a hangar; looks like the enemy in this picture is some generic stand-in for "almost but not quite Iran". 😉

Damn, Jayhawk1971, you're smart! You just sold me this campaign with your comments.

Hey, @Reflected, give that man a cookie, please! 🙂

    Tks!

  8. Good, SVgamer!

So far, I never had a P-47 engine failure following these tips. I just flew mission 8 and I made 2 more kills. It's embarrassing to admit I stole on AI kill (not intentionally), but so far I got 11 kills + 2 JU-88s strafed on the ground. As reflected said, these are not Hollywood missions. A lot of en-route navigation to a few moments of "terror"... LOL

  9. SVgamer72, hi!

Well, I've seen a lot of engine trouble around and, if I may, here goes my humble tips:

On the ground, warm up your engines properly. Maintain oil cooler and intercooler in Neutral. Period!

    After takeoff,

    Close the Cowl Flaps,

Reduce your rpm to 2550 and leave it there! Period (in cruise, sometimes I bring it down to 2.400. Only if I coming back home ALONE I reduce it to 2150rpm to save fuel).

Manifold as necessary. AI accelerations and climbs are on 52" and 2550rpm. If necessary, add more manifold (54" is ok and even WEP), but keep rpm 2550. Pay attention to your temps. If they go to high open to 3/4 open (never needed to full open it). Once ok, bring oil cooler and intercooler back to neutral.

After takeoff is finished (above 1000ft), change to your external tanks.

Use belly until it starves or you get in combat.

If underwings, use you clock minute pointer as a cue. Minute 00 to 30 use right tank, 31 to 00 use the left tank. In cruise, you may reduce you mixture to LEAN.

    In combat,

    Use your main tank,

    Drop your externals.

    Mixture in Rich.

Oil Cooler and Intercooler in Neutral or just a bit above neutral.

Check rpm in 2550 (and leave it there).

    Use WEP when necessary only.

When Feet-wet returning home, you may reduce RPM and Mixture to Lean.

    Good luck,

    Sydy
