Hey peeps, I accidentally deleted by unit templates in the mission editor (I think, using the little '-' button next to the template names, thinking this was just iterating to the next template). How can I get them back? I tried downloading the 'realistic' template from here and putting the template.lua file in my /USERNAME/Saved Games/DCS/Mission Editor/ but no joy. Those templates are not showing in DCS. Where am I going wrong? Thanks in advance. tsb47

I'm having the same problem. Re-downloading the .dll and the entire Mig 21 folder is not working. Neither is the registry fix.

Why not just put the sight in MAN+CC mode? Then you won't have CCIP. It would be nice to get some Mig 21 bombing charts so we can accurate bomb in manual mode. Also, what about rockets? Does this mean that rockets should also be fired in manual mode?

Yeah, I learned from Hadwell that the only way to fight modern fighters in a Mig 21 is to stay fast, low and with radar on - using the mountains to cover you from A-120Cs etc. Once you pick up an enemy contact lock him straight away, go full burner towards him, engage with R-3R at max range, then one inside the envelope, then switch to IR to finish him off.

I think this is a good idea.

Just so long as it doesn't have an AIM120C, a 200km range radar or a nuclear death cannon, I'm happy. And I wouldn't complain overly about early AIM7 vs R3R, provided failures are built in.

He's not saying that it's not. He's saying the stock F-5E is a good match for the Mig 21bis. Besides, the F-5E is itself an upgrade of the F-5A.

It doesn't do anything in sim other than obstruct your view.

Can I please suggest you take your gun camera off. You don't need it! It doesn't do anything other than obscure your view. To take it off put the switch immediately left of the IFF decoder on the RH panel in the down position. tsb47

This is all correct. Just flying PRMG is much easier than faffing around with the SAU in my opinion. And if you miss the approach just fly a big box - being careful not to collide with the ground eg at Nalchick. Where you know there's terrain nearby would suggest turning on rad alt warning to eg, 100m and leaving gear up until you're confident you're clear or terrain. One feature that would be REALLY useful would be ATIS at airfield with QFE and weather. Or failing ATIS the ability to ask ATC for QFE and weather info. At the moment it's a bit of guessing until you get final approach clearance!
