  1. One other thing, X-plane can use "plugins" for things like trackir. I'm no programmer, but that would be nice to have here - then you could call up presets for each aircraft. The plugin actually is more for your relative position in the cockpit, but maybe it could control other functions of trackir if needed?... something to think about for a wishlist?
  2. To the best of my knowledge ( limited stick time on modern sims and trackir ) you need to have trackIR up and running ( in the background, so to speak ) so your sim can access it. I've had some instances where Trackir ceased working for some reason, and so far, my only recourse has been to reboot. Ifind that X-pane is not very friendly - actually a PITA compared to dcsworld for integration of trackir.
  3. on the trackir forum, one suggested that you can manually update your games list ( in trackir) can you actually "add" a game tite? I guess that concept is not applicable here ( different dcs aircraft ) you would think that a config file in the save games folder could accomplish the same result as you would have when you specify different button assignments to controllers for each aircraft example ( assuming I have the order correct here ) user /saved games / dcs /config / input / p51/ throttle, pedals, joystick, trackir
  4. OK. THANKS! Maybe one day they could submit some additional aircraft to the list. ( when they get time)
  5. TrackIR has numerous titles that you can apply specific saved profiles ( in trackir - not dcsworld) i see DCS A-10C.. Black Shark Great Choices - Which of these two would i use for my P51D? dcs a10-C
  6. Find a nice bucket seat on CL, or a junkyard ( I paid 100 bucks for a brand new Racing seat that didn't work out for the guys car - He had it already mounted on the car mounts and ready to bolt in.). Mount on frame and install all your hardware ( stick, pedals, etc ).. then you have a adjustment to slide seat back to get in and out, and rest of the tilt options. If you find one that is came out of a car ( or was going into a car ) then your'e way ahead because you only need to drill 4 holes and bolt it in ( and the vehicle hardware ( frame the seat bolts to ) will had an adjuster. No reason not to find a full electric seat either. I'll post some pics and put on my profile in a day or so for you.
  7. I just got through a nightmare after a several month "leave" flying. I think between that time I had done some house keeping and set up a "limited user account" ( DCS already installed ).... and started using a large HD for other programs and not my SSD. I cleaned up a lot of stuff because my son decided that because he could use my flight Sims on "MY" computer with a 3 Mon setup , that he could just load steam and load up all of his 1st person shooters, etc. and sit in my office and spend the rest of his life there. That got very old very quick! So, I deleted 10's of gigs of stuff from my SSD and cleaned house. I made a limited user account for "online" - so computer would not be in full access mode. So.. the real question is: Would Flying and running DCS world from limited user account have any impact on running DCS in full admin account? I didn't know if this was something to stay away from due to hardware profiles, and transition from one account mode to another. Everything works now but it involved deleting DCS folder from saved games, and finally re-installing thrustmaster drivers ( and did a firmware update while i was at it. ) Just Curious!... I hope not to have spend almost three days sorting this kind of stuff out again. In some ways using the other limited user account might be easier ( no PW) ( but then IIRC I think I have to start TIR manually AS Administrator, In full admin account I have trackIR start on startup. Maybe that was intended for flying - I really don't remember. Adult Flight Sims and teenagers on Steam just don't seem to mix very well! Thanks. WG
  8. SOLVED. BTW, I had looked in the AXIS folder previously, but nothing worked. After revisiting that, I had some double assignments... like throttle in the rudder pedal?? thats a new one. Loaded up training and did same thing.. go down runway and can't lift off. So, time to figure this out. my first thought was ( after reading another post ) was thrustmaster and some input.ini file in the dcs program folder. Nope.. I didn't have that scenario. So off to thrust master site and downloaded new drivers and firmware., reloaded all of that and restarted. AXIS controls now work... Plane now flies ( nicely! ) There's one for the back burner if all else fails. Thanks again for all the help in noodling this thing out.
  9. Roger That!... thanks for the explanations.. Now to look up some configurations for the Hotus.
  10. WOW.. I must have been so caught up trying old profiles and going back to the sim that I totally overlooked "AXIS"... duh.. I'm really not this stupid "normally" What is TF51-d i saw that come up in mine also and I don't recalll seeing it before ( not that I have spent alot of time here.. I was blessed to get a profile from one of the guys on here that fit real well. Of course, that's not much good now after 1.2.8 And I wonder why all of my profiles (diff versions ) are so whacked out. On each one the throttle controls are Bass Akwards.. the pitch is on the right and the smaller throttle control is assigned to the left. - none of my doing!.. And finally.. Do I want to use Game or Sim profile??? - or why do we have two? Thanks for all the help ( again )... and thanks for the heads up on RPM fo.r prop My mental telepathy isn;t what it used to be! Hope i can fly and stay out of your hair for a while. Thanks greatly Wayne
  11. Things really got messed up when I upgraded from 1.2.8 to the latest release. I'm working through a major pain just trying to fly my p51. I've been at this for 2 days and I'm really at a loss. I have deleted my saved games dcs folder ( several times ) repaired DCS world.. several times. I've basically figured I have to redo my input profiles for the p51 but this isn't going very well. I can't figure out what the heck is going on with the options menu. First.. there is P51D Game and P51D Sim.. If I'm just "training" which of those do i use? Now here's the kicker... I have no way to assign my throttle and prop controls. This thing will not accept anything but buttons... I only see control for throttle up and throttle down I don't see any indication for my propeller. If I try to set my throttle (up) and push the throttle forward, nothing happens. Basically I can't figure out how to program anything that uses a proportional control like an X-Y axis ( if this is the right term ). Has something drastically changed? I am so frustrated with this. I think I have it set up, I can see my control surfaces moving, and yet, it's all I can do to get it off the ground. I used to be able to roll down the runway, approach take off speed and lift the tail and it would basically be flying. DCS is also asking my to verify serial numbers and all this stuff? I had to do that with the P51 ( only been flying it since spring! ).. and now it wants the serial number for the A-10. The only variable i can think of is that a while back I set up two user accounts. One "master admin account" and the other with some limitations to make the computer a little more secure online. Each user ( me ) ended up with individual saved games folders in my "user" directory. Something looks really different about the options section. Especially only a choice of throttle up, throttle down. This is a control that would have some variable value. It is assuming that i am using a button for up and a button for down i think. I'll stop here and see If some light gets shed on the screwed up mess. If anyone has a Thrustmaster Hotus and Throttle profile that actually works so i could at least load it see if that helps I would appreciate it. I looked in the section for user files but they all seem to be "older". If worse comes to worse I'm frustrated enough to just delete this whole mess and start over. Sorry to have to keep asking for help with this. Time for some motrin! WG
  12. Well... This is a new one on me. Everything worked with renaming the dcs folder except i was back at a single monitor set up at some default resolution. But the mouse worked and audio and all worked. so went back to the config menu - it was set to 1 monitor so I set it to 3 and the spanned resolution. Now, no mouse! So there has to be some twist here - I went into the nvidia setup and some how ( probably someone on my computer playing "STEAM"... OII*U(&&^ i reset up my 3 monitor span, set the bezel alignment, saved everything - loaded DCS world, BINGO!!! we have sound, mouse , and 3 monitor set up. i have no clue why this is , but it works so now I'm back in business. Thanks for help on the config file. Evidently, it was set up 3 monitors - someone screwed with my Graphics card (Hello Password! )... And DCS world was still set to 3 monitors at a spanned resolution. ( And that's what I was seeing too.. 3 monitors, proper resolution... just no sound and no mouse ) Explains the brief flash of the dcsworld screen on the left monitor and then on the right one. OK. this is one I'll remember! Thanks for the help... REALLY!!! Wayne
  13. not being very "up" on the inner workings of how it works, but up on age... I thought that's what my shortcut was to ( saved games)- but I realized that was not the save games folder but the config folder . ( from last summer I found out where that is.. ) I wanted to shed light on the config folder in case I screwed something up ( which in error I thought had to do with saved games ) - and the fact that I had flat out deleted it by renaming that one. Since you did not sound any alarms over what I did to the config folder, I'll go find the saved games folder and rename that one . Thanks again... I'll report back
  14. something in the config folder.... but what? You both are onto something here. I ran the updater but it did not do anything, then I ran the "repair" and things started getting happening. I renamed my config file ( before all this ) to configback. When I loaded the game again, I got the engine sound and the music theme ( which I did not realize was missing ) Then my p51 loaded in some default 1 screen resolution... ( But the mission screen did not come up and the mouse worked! ) just resolution and one monitor had defaulted some how. --- Ah.. the config files. - they were recreated. so I copied the contents of my configback to the new config folder. Now I'm right back where I was before with no mouse and no flyover sound or sound track - and that mission screen again, so something in the config folder is seriously out of whack. I'm really only concerned about my thrustmaster profiles. So, do I just delete the config file again, repair dcs again and then then only look for my thrustmaster profiles, or start from scratch, ( ouch). Another interesting thing was that my p51 did not show up with a serial number ( noticed that before in modules ).. it requested to up date that an it says i have 9 authorizations left ??? What should I do before I start deleting and moving stuff.
