  1. I'm looking to buy a e reader, but with so many to chose from, which one? Does any one have a suggestion. The main used would be to download pdf files, to read and/or study while in bed ( wife is yelling that I spend too much time in front of the computer ). Really would like to put the A10-C manual on it for reference while flying. Thanks for any ideas.
  2. I'm building up a profile for the VAC, and not sure of the proper phases to use. Are the phases in the radio menu correct, or are there others used in real life. Such as, Permission to taxi, instead of Request taxi to runway. Also should all transmissions start with your call sign, then the receiver, followed by the request. " Herig1, Tower, Request startup " or is it receiver first then the call sign with the request last. " Tower Herig1 Request startup " Tried both a forum and a internet search and couldn't come up with any thing solid. Thanks for any help.

  4. B-17 and the 25 is $425 for a half hour, the P-51 is $2200 per half hour or 3200 for one hour.
  5. OK Guys, I just book a flight on a B-17, going up on 9:30 Monday morning ( 9-5-11 ) Its sponsored by the Collings Foundation. The Wings of Freedom Tour. At the Monmouth Executive Airport in Wall, NJ. They have flights available for the B-17, B-25 and the P-51. Hope to have photos to post.
  6. Thanks Razi, I shoud have used the search, but following the instructions, that did not dawn on me. I just took it as, that the patch did away with it.
  7. Seeing how easy it looks to build a panel, my brain went into gear. Received the GP-Wiz40, hit the local Radio Shack for a box and a few switches. Wanted to do the electrical panel. First I tried the battery switch, the build went smooth. Now for the problems. Plug it in, the drivers load. Start DCS A-10C, click options and there it was, GP-Wiz40, Located the battery switch line, add the switch to it and went to a ramp startup mission. It work !!. But I didn't do the program to shut it off. Next time I'll go though all the videos. Went back and watch the, how to configure video, Called myself a dummy for not watching it first, and proceeded to configure it, to shut the battery off. BUT in the config / input / aircrafts / A10-C / joystick file, the GP is not listed. And looking around the LUA files I did not see any command numbers. Could this be because they were taken out in the 1.1.0.7. patch or I'm just not seeing something.
  8. Its a beta. ED and their testers can not produce all the different combinations of OS, processors, videos cards, etc. and see how the program ( A10-C ) performs. It is up to the beta users to report back, in order so that ED can produce the best sim ever. I found that search is your friend. Fortunately each crash I had, I search and found that it had been reported and ED is working on it, and in some cases there was a fix posted. If its not reported they can not correct the cause of it. Don't give up please, first search the forums and if there isn't a history of it, then used the proper procedure to report the crash. You will be helping everyone
  9. After a week I can see an improvement. At first ther was not any noticeable effect. Load times are faster. But more important the micro shuddering are gone.
  10. Got my throttle back to day. Went from serial # 01462 to 00935. I wonder who had it before. So far so good except the left throttle has a squeak in the last quarter of it's travel. A drop of lube should fix that.
  11. Has anyone one used this to boost there performance? "Using memory in your storage device to speed up your computer ReadyBoost can speed up your computer by using storage space on most USB flash drives and flash memory cards. When you plug a ReadyBoost-compatible storage device into your computer, the AutoPlay dialog box offers you the option to speed up your computer using ReadyBoost. If you select this option, you can choose how much memory on the device to use for this purpose. When you set up a device to work with ReadyBoost, Windows shows you how much space it recommends you allow it to use for optimal performance. For ReadyBoost to effectively speed up your computer, the flash drive or memory card should have at least 1 gigabyte (GB) of available space. If your device doesn't have enough available space for ReadyBoost, you'll see a message telling you to free some space on the device if you want to use it to speed up your system. You can enable or disable ReadyBoost for a specific flash drive or other removable storage device."
  12. My throttle was sent to Canada for repair / replacement last week. I unplug the HOTAS before I shut down. The rig is running off of a UPS. Unplug it one night, I always put the USB protective cap on, the next day when I plug it in, the five light flash and windows post an unrecognizable USB window, and that the device has malfuction.
  13. Finally got someone, by phone, going back and forth by email was frustrating. My thottle is shipping out to Canada tomorrow. It will be interesting to se how long it takes to get it back, and if its the same serial number.
  14. I have one and it " was " great, but it only works with XP. There was't any support for Vista. I did a search and did find a site for it. It was by a programer that wanted to use for gameing, with the Vista OS. He did a program that work, but only for key strokes, no macros. or key combos. I used it with FC1 and 2, but retired it after A-10C came out.
  15. After two months my throttle went south, yes I updated the firmware. It was working fine when I shut down , then nothing the next time. Windows displays "device not recognized". Contact TM, by phone, and was told me it has to be sent back, and wait for a email, follow it's instructions. They replied and now I'm in touch with Hercles support. Now comes the frustrating part. For some reason my email server won't, or can not send the photos on the thottle and invoice as require. ( sent photos just befor and it went through to another email address) as attachments. I even set up another email account on a different server for this problum. Resent the info, the attachments went through and recived a responce in French ( sent in english and I can read only english) Transalated with Bing. It told me to used their form, which does not have the Warthog HOTAS listed. Sent it anyway still waiting. If anyone in the USA , I'm in NJ, had to send the throttle back, please let me know how to do it. Thanks

  17. I took a piece of 11ga steel, cut out a circle, drill the screw holes, and weld it to a bracket that is screw to the chair.
  18. You can put both MFDs on one monitor, I have both on one 19" monitor. Use MadTommy's Multi monitor set-up guide, its in the open beta forum. Look in the Multi-Monitor and Other Displays forum. It took a little tweaking since my screens are two different sizes and I have them on top of each other. It makes flying a lot easier.
  19. Now that I have the MFCDs on a second monitor, I need the Cougar MFD setup. but BLT were I purchase the Warthog HOTAS is backorder with a ETA of 12-18. Amazon.com says out of stock, 3 to 5 weeks. as does ever other site that I visit. Then I did a search with it's upc number 663296413758. There one place that has in stock. Techdepot, a division of Office Depot. They list two Thrustmaster MFD cougar packs. Techdepot part # S7902744 for $58.95, out of stock Techdepot part # S7746289 for $48.95, in stock BUT they both have the same Mfr# 2960708 I have read in the forums that there are two versions of the MFD and this being the weekend Techdepot is closed. They operate only during normal business hours. So calling them is out, until Monday. And then I would like to appear to know what I'm talking about. My question is, does the two versions have the same manufacture number and is there any way to know what version it is without checking the tab on the MFD.
  20. I looking to put the MFCDs on a second monitor. But I see that there are files that have to be change and some added. My question is. With this being a Beta, with patches coming out, should I wait until the final version is out.
