  1. That's because it's a heat seeker. ;) My suggestion: stay high so the missiles lose energy and likely miss and either A) Sick your wingman on him B) Save a maverick for him and scan, scan, scan until you find him. He should be pretty easy to see on the TVM, as IIRC, he's in a decently open field. Still, spotting is really freakin' hard.
  2. Excellent work Amramm, as always. Got the goosebumps! Maybe this is the kind of kick in the pants my friends need to get them into the best genre around. :)
  3. Haha, likewise. I was going willy nilly on buildings. :) Popped open the editor and all was easy. Though from now on, I think I'll try to devise a way to gather more intel without it being considered cheating. The difficulty in spotting targets paired with not know what exactly I'm supposed to be shooting at is surely a handicap that real life doesn't have. Or maybe we just need to be better aware of the jargon. :)
  4. I was just doing the rounds myself. My e6600 is aging and the market has some pretty attractive upgrades for some low prices. For instance, I was checking out the AMD Phenom II X2 555, a dual core processor easily capable of 4ghz, and get this, you can get lucky and unlock it to 4 cores, all for 99 bucks! I was thinking, even if I was unlucky and managed only 1 or 0 unlocks, it wouldn't matter much for FC2 anyway and the overclockability is pretty nice regardless. Thought it was worth mentioning. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103846 Edit: Woopsie, was already mentioned... leaving the thread and coming back, I didn't realize. Well, as far as I can tell, +1 to the 555. :)
  5. From what I understand, NaturalPoint has the software ready to distinguish between the two, but ED has something to do on their end for the update to go into effect. Ah, here it is, straight from NaturalPoint themselves. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=878841&postcount=3
  6. Spent a lot of time at Barksdale AFB, good times. Thanks for the heads up -- didn't know it would be streaming.
  7. Just tested that for myself. Setup a benchmark track and used fraps to compile a 105 second avg. No D3D Override: 37.076 fps With D3D Override: 36.952 fps Since trying that out though, I wonder if anyone has a good benchmark track to use? -- Something that stresses a number of areas in one go, something we can all use as a de-facto standard, so our numbers are objective.
  8. What, you can't see things from 500 Km away? You need to get your eyes checked. =P
  9. I believe the far_clip in graphics.cfg is what you're looking for. There are other things as well. Have a look @ http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51339
  10. I noticed it was pretty fidgety with my Sidewinder. I upped the axis curve on all dimensions to 18 and it's quite a bit better. Granted I've only flown for about lunchbreak minutes. ;) I'm guessing some heavy tweaking in the controls section of the settings menu will get things where I want them. No doubt though, aircraft feel way more responsive than FC1.
  11. Just before my lunch break too!:pilotfly:
  12. The announcement stated it would be "in a day", so I'm guessing either by end of business day or by tomorrow morning. I certainly sympathize with your position, but I can appreciate that this isn't a huge issue so long as it's dealt with in the coming day, and that the quality of the product trumps all. The reality is they probably just need to be better staffed, but money is probably tight. Thanks for the update EtherealN and Panzertard.
  13. Well, despite the suckiness of the situation, I'm glad to see they're selling well. :)
  14. The no serial issue caused me to notice another issue. I bought Lock On Flaming Cliffs from the E-shop back in 2007. I still have the order confirmation email with the transaction ID and everything. The problem is, I don't see it under 'My Purchases' and therefore I don't have the serial number for it either. I do happen to have the serial number saved since I backed up the registry entry long ago, but it'd be nice to know that my digital purchase was recorded and I could reattain my serial number if I ever needed it. It might even be related to the bigger issue at hand. To all those that just purchased FC2 and don't have a serial number, is your order history accurate? PS: To those in the unfortunate, same predicament, I recommend getting all your settings, mods, etc tweaked as much as you can to pass the time and still feel like you've actually received something for your purchase. Build a mission, look at the hot new encyclopedia. The new UI is slick! =P
