  1. While technically a Viper campaign, "Keeping the bear at bay" is a great example of routine missions while providing great air intercept practice. Most flights are just intercept, identify then escort out of the area. Occasionally, it turns hostile and you get into a fight but it's all completely random. So you have no idea what you're getting into. Might be worth a look to see if swapping the F-16 to an F-18 is possible. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328036/
  2. Sedlo, you are a DCS god sir(or ma'am). All of your missions and campaigns are top notch. Thank you for all your hard work. Maybe I missed a trigger, but is there supposed to be any more radio activity on mission 1 after the Mig goes home and we're told to return to the carrier? I switched Comm1 to carrier freq after not hearing any radio traffic for a while and just landed normally with my wingman with no further mission interaction. After exiting the mission, I only had a score of 50 with no completion and only an option to fly mission 1 again. Just wondering what I did wrong here
  3. Could he be prioritizing the targets further away due to perceived "threat level"? Currently, George will list targets in order of what he thinks is the most dangerous(How he determines this, i have no clue). Not in order of distance. George's target list still needs a lot of work(vehicle type categories, vehicle identification, estimated range, etc.) Sometimes you just have to bring up his TADS video on one of your screens and scroll through his target list to find exactly what you're looking for. Clumsy, for sure, but i haven't noticed him missing targets completely.
  4. I second this statement! I would love to purchase the stl files from you. Of course, it would be to only make my own setup and not try to sell them to others because I'm not a scumbag
  5. The landing method I've been using for years in BMS, and now DCS is this: Line up the 2.5° pitch ladder and the FPM to the runway threshold Establish on speed AOA Upon crossing the runway threshold, pull the FPM up to the departure end of the runway Slightly increase power to arrest descent, then idle Touchdown on mains, hold gun cross at 10° until 100kts
  6. Bill, unless there is something seriously wrong with the coding for the cooler doors you shouldn't have to take them out of the auto position. At high altitudes those doors should be almost fully shut at any normal airspeed. The more you open those doors, the more drag you are creating.
  7. I started laughing as soon as i read the thread title because i knew exactly what it was. If that's true, then that makes this even more hilarious!
  8. Even though i'm not a fan of the CH Products joysticks, i have to say their Pro Pedals have served me well for many years. I've had the same set for over 6 years and they are still going strong. At this rate, i'm starting to think they are going to outlast my Cougar..lol. I've only ever used them on carpet, but i've never had any issue with them sliding around during use. I don't fasten or secure them in any way. I'd love to know how someone figured out that using an ice cube works like that..lol. I mean, was some guy's wife complaining about the carpet and he was like "hell, i don't know..just put an ice cube on it"?
  9. Haha...no, i've had the dodosim for years. It took me quite a while to get comfortable with it, as well.
  10. With Central Trimmer unchecked, the sim will wait a specified number of milliseconds after a press of the force-trim button before allowing the cyclic to respond to joystick inputs. If you don't center your joystick fast enough, it could lead to unwanted cyclic inputs making the helicopter oscillate. With Central Trimmer checked, the sim waits for you to return your joystick to it's calibrated center before allowing the cyclic to respond to joystick inputs again. This removes the unwanted cyclic input issue. But might introduce other issues if your joystick is not calibrated properly. The DodoSim 206 is an incredible add-on. I've spent many hours flying around Orbx areas with that one :) The trim in the 206 is similar to having your Ka-50's Central Trimmer option unchecked. You don't HAVE to use the central trimmer if you don't have a force feedback joystick. It just depends on what you are more comfortable with. I flew without it for a long time. Once i started using it though, i liked it a lot more.
  11. The big question is, did it have LAU-88's with 3 Mavs loaded on all 11 stations? :megalol:
  12. Please read the links in this thread to understand how the force-trim system works: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35444 The Central Position Trimmer Mode changes what YOU have to do with the joystick after pressing the trim button. It doesn't change what the helicopter does. What you are describing is exactly what is supposed to happen when you have the Central Trimmer Mode turned on and press the force-trim button while in flight. The cyclic will ignore ALL inputs until you physically return your joystick and rudder pedals back to their center position. Trim-reset should only be used on the ground after landing. Never in flight.
  13. I, honestly, have never used the carb heat in DCS. However, in the real world, you need to switch from ram to sheltered air before turning the heat on for it to have any effect. If you are running sheltered with heat and the carb temp still doesn't increase, then that is a programming issue within the DCS P51.
  14. Not sure what you are reporting as a bug here? Buildings and terrain block LOS. Trees do not. It's been that way for as long as i can remember. The video is quite amusing if you think about the guy in the Roland, though. He's probably blue in the face from swearing at you so much...lol.
  15. 200 is a rather low cruising speed for the Mustang. Low speed means less air through the radiator. Try increasing your speed. Normal cruise for these things is between 325-350mph (280-305 knots)
  16. The critical altitude of the high blower is around 26,000ft. Any higher than that, and you will start to notice a drop in manifold pressure. Full fine on the prop at 35,000ft should give you around 43-44". Lower RPM's will, of course, give you lower manifold pressures. On the Merlin, carb heat is not supposed to be used above 12,000ft anyway. Low carb temps are normal at high altitudes. Also, due to the fact that the Merlin uses a pressure carb, it's nowhere near as susceptible to carb ice as your normal GA aircraft with float carbs. The amount of air passing through the carb at anything other than idle throttle makes it almost impossible for ice to form in the venturi. I guess what i'm trying to say, is that even if icing was modeled. You'd hardly ever notice it while flying the Mustang anyway.
  17. I now have coffee all over my computer monitor because of that
  18. That's some good footage. I love the contrast between the two aircraft. The B-1 is smooth and streamlined whereas the A-10 just has crap hanging off and sticking out all over the place...lol 4 Olympus 202's vs 4 GE F101's is a tough matchup. They both sound amazing. My vote goes to the B-1 though ;) http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=73272ff096
  19. Here's what i make of this situation. If he's going to talk about aircraft systems and general crew chief duties. Then that's fine. It might be interesting for some people. If, on the other hand, he's going into this as a self-proclaimed expert on combat employment of the A-10 just because he's a crew chief. I wouldn't waste my time. Seeing as you posted a couple pictures Paul, i'll add this one. You might get a laugh out of it.
  20. Nah, the crew chief just makes sure there is gas in the tanks and air in the tires. The avionics guys are the ones who know everything. ;) The above is light-hearted humor. Please do not take it seriously and get all bent out of shape.
  21. You made me second-guess myself so i went back through the changelogs. The 'HARS selected as default' functionality was actually implemented in 1.1.0.8. So many changes since the early beta days, it's hard to keep track of what happened when anymore..lol. I retract my previous bet :P
  22. @Yellonet - That is a good tip, but i'd still be hesitant to fire very early after release. My auto-lase is set at 10sec 100% of the time. The only time they miss anything is if i have a sloppy run-in. @ENO - He'd be getting a hung store indication if he wasn't holding the release. Seeing as he was doing fine with 1.1.1.1 i'm kind of ruling out the normal "newbie mistakes" here and am willing to bet money on the fact that he's running in HARS mode because that's a functionality change between versions ;)
  23. If i remember correctly, and this is going back quite a ways..lol. A-10C 1.1.1.1 defaulted the NMSP to EGI. In the newer versions, it's defaulted to HARS and needs to manually be set to EGI once the INS is aligned. If you are not changing that from HARS to EGI, that will cause your JDAM situation. Before you drop any GPS guided bombs, make sure your DSMS page says 'RDY' underneath the weapon. If it says "ALN UNS" then you have an issue with your INS alignment and the bomb will not drop. As for the LGB issue. The only thing i can think of is drop from a medium altitude(10-15k ft) and don't fire the laser too early. Only fire the laser once the bomb is 8-10 secs away from impact. Otherwise it will try to maneuver too much, kill it's energy and won't be able to follow the laser precisely.
  24. It might just be the way you worded this, but it sounds to me like you aren't employing the GBU-12 correctly. You can set a markpoint for your own reference, but the GBU-12 has no idea where that markpoint is. The GBU-12 needs the laser from the TGP to guide it. If you haven't setup an auto-lase in the weapon profile, you will need to fire the laser manually once the bomb is ~10secs from impact. It will then track the laser to wherever your TGP is currently pointing. Without an active laser for it to follow, a GBU-12 is just a normal dumb bomb. As for the "nothing else launches correctly". We'll need more information on what you are doing and what the weapons are doing when you try to drop them.
