If you have no plans to change it then the amount of effort selling it will far exceed the effort to keep Windows 11 from updating to 24H2 sometime in the future, the update version prior to 24H2 will continue to receive security updates for quite some time.

WMR always felt like a terrible idea, and was terribly implemented to boot. There is a reason why Microsoft is getting rid of it. I'm not using my G2 because it's a hassle to set up correctly and WMR is a big part of that. I was looking for an excuse to sell it, and this is as good as any.

Windows 10's Scheduler was never patched for e-cores, and never will.
Windows 10 is out of Mainstream Support, it's done, only security updates now.

Windows 11's Scheduler was written knowing e-cores were coming, to work with Intel's Thread Director.

    Directly from Intel's Site:

The optimization between the processor and Windows Task Scheduler relies on Intel® Thread Director technology. Intel's Thread Director is a microcontroller built in each Alder Lake processor (12th Generation Intel Core processors ) that is optimized for Windows 11 Task Scheduler to decide which thread goes where (P-core or E-core). Thread director also works with Windows 10 Scheduler, but it is not optimized for it. In summary, for optimal performance for 12th Gen processors, you should go with Windows 11.

I've found that little blurb on Intel's site, but all the benchmarks I've seen of numerous games\multithreaded in Win10 vs Win11 have been within the margin of error.

Not sure how that could be true if Intel\Microsoft did such a poor job on the the Win10 task scheduler. Sorry if Im being a pain about this, but if this is indeed true I will gladly upgrade to Win11 TODAY, but I would really appreciate some real world evidence beforehand.

Windows 10 Scheduler does not recognize the differences in E/P Cores, that was part of Windows 11 and used to push people to Windows 11,
If you have a Intel CPU with P and E Cores, Windows 10 will treat them both the same.

Can you please provide some evidence for this? This used to be the case over a year ago but this should have been patched by Microsoft, and I have been unable to find any benchmarks or evidence that this is still true.

@BIGNEWY Intel 12th gen and up require Windows 11 to unpark their cores. Have recently 'solved' this issue by myself and with a bit of research found the answer.

I did try to unpark cores in windows 10 but for newer Intel this does not work as windows 10 can't handle the P/E core stuff and even by trying to force the cores to unpark, it simply will not.

This is where Windows 11 comes in as it is more optimized for the P/E cores and will have them all unparked and fix the issue for those that are on windows 10 or lower.

This should NOT be the case. The thread scheduler for Windows 11 exists and should fully work in Windows 10 as well. In fact this was patched in by Microsoft soon after the 12th gen Intel CPUs were released.

  5. This might be the first DCS Module that I will buy for it's system modeling alone. I mean obviously in BFM it's going to pretty much dominate every other fighter in the game, I mean it's a fly by wire 4.5 gen plane that will be the most advanced thing we have in the game by a long shot.

I expect it to fly and behave like every other FBW plane flies and behaves, i.e. you can yank it around like it's a video game. (And yeah, I get the irony of that) I'm more curious in it's integrated systems and whether they will make me want to pull my hair out, or whether they will truly make my job as a pilot of a weapon delivery system much easier.

    WTF?

It's kind of a nerd joke. You gotta be into Warhammer:40K to get it 🙂

In the lore of that setting. Orks are a race of barely sentient but very brutal space faring creatures, that project a very powerful "psi" field which allows their technology (such as it is) to work. In essence, from their guns to their spaceships, their tech works, because they believe it works. 🙂

  7. Off topic, but since so many continue to bring it up:

Q: How is development of the Eurofighter split between TrueGrit and Heatblur?

A: The Eurofighter will be developed and published by Heatblur, and co-developed by TrueGrit through the addition of subject matter expertise, development support and technical resources. TrueGrit will continue to hold and manage the license agreement with Eagle Dynamics as well as other parties and trademark owners.

  8. I know that most of you guys don't want to hear this since this is an AMD focused thread, but Intel 12th gen and especially Intel 13th gen processors are extremely well made, they run very efficiently and have excellent single-thread and multithreaded performance. AMD has been knocking it out of the park in the last few generations but Intel has managed to come back strong with these chips (especially the 13th gen chips) and they are now consistently winning the price/performance battle in most segments. Not trying to start a thread war here, just mentioning this because a lot of people seem to be surprised by how well Intel has been doing in benchmarks lately even against the best X3D chips.
