  1. Nice video. First of all, even real Huey pilots are not hovering on spot without moving a bit. For me, the most important thing is the reference point during hover. Not something in the distance, but something You can refer to, while hovering. Some bush, antenna, vehicle or something. Focus on that spot and it will tell You exactly what direction is the machine moving. I agree it's damn difficult and I'm not good at it as well. My first problem was to decelerate smoothly to zero speed without zig-zaging the space over the landing spot and without changing the altitude. For example....I found out, that (IMO) it's much easier to stop to hover from a right turn. It naturally slows You down, You have a nice view on the landing spot and while increasing the collective, there isn't that dramatic left yaw effect like when You trying to slow down from a straight flight. Of course You have to compensate with left rudder a lot, but it doesn't throw You off balance that much. Then I started to learn to compensate gently from straight flight. I think UH-1 is mostly about patience and slow approach. In Mi-8, You can kill the collective, kick the nose up and stop very quickly. When I tried Mi-8 again, after flying a few hours in Huey, I felt like the best helicopter pilot on the world. :-D Mi-8 is heavy and easy to control for me, UH-1 will always be a bitch. It's light, no stabilisation system and just very hard to control. I wish You luck with this machine. :-)
  2. Don´t forget to remember the men, who fought for our future! Thanks to them, we can fly sims and enjoy the virtual battlefields today.
  3. Another question. Does anyone have an UH-1 pilots template? Thank You.
  4. There are still a few things to tune on this one. The paint doesn't "flow" correctly on engine cover and some other parts, pilots aren't changed at all, etc...
  5. Anyway...this helped me a lot and I can't wait to apply my finished skin. Thanks guys!
  6. Looking great. I'm afraid, that after release, the YouTube will be full of Chevaliers du Ciel videos. *sigh* :-)
  7. I don't understand all of this textures mumbo jumbo. I just want to have my skins looking nice and sharp. Když se to neprojeví na výkonu, sere na to pes. :)
  8. Thanks again. I tried yesterday and it works like a charm. Exactly what I wanted.
  9. OMG...thank You very much!!! Great news for me!
  10. Hi guys. I have a question about the similar problem, Chlebakus mentioned here a few posts back. I'm preparing some fictional Czech Air Force skin for UH-1 and I don't know, how to get better looking markings on the chopper. I tried to change the size of the texture, but it doesn't have any effect. I'm doing it in Photoshop, then saving it in BMP 24bit and converting into DDS using DXTBmp converter. But the converter always degrade the texture quality into a mess. I tried 32bit and it was ok even after converting it to DDS, but DCS refused to use it and the texture was just black. The texture size now is 4096x4096px. My textures quality setting in DCS is HIGH. When I view some other in-game models, they have even smaller markings and are clearly visible and readable. I just don't know, what I'm doing wrong. Thank You very much for any tips.
  11. I agree. Mi-8 is so far the best campaign I had in DCS and it forces You to learn flying Mi-8 really well.
  12. > Your specs.
  13. I think it would be the opposite. But IMO hard runway is less forgiving, when it comes to hard touchdown. I´ve read some article about FWs and it mentioned a lot of crashes due to "over flaring" the aircraft, hence stalling it a few meters over the runway surface and then slamming it hard on the runway or grass. The gear gets shock from the impact and throw You all over the place. When I messed up my first landing I did something similar. I thought I´m descending too fast and tried to pull on the stick a little bit more........Dora sort of stopped midair and then fell on the runway. When I watched replay, I also had slight left bank. It was because of the sudden RPM change I made and the torgue effect messed my aircraft attitude. (Chlebakus also mentioned this). I think it´s better to touchdown further on the runway, than trying to put it down ASAP.
  14. That´s right. I can land this for the second time I fly it, but other simmers can maintain God-like hover with UH-1. Everyone´s skill is different with different approach. I don´t have problem with people, who are struggling to land it. I have problem with people, who blame some sort of mysterious bug in DCS, which prevents them from landing. DCS isn´t perfect, but developers do sh1tloads of testing before releasing modules and I would be very surprised, if they would release it, knowing, there is some major issue with landing physics or something.
  15. No dyk. Jsou to močky. Something similar on my side. And I'm not some high skill WW2 planes pilot. I'm landing all planes the same way. :-D
  16. Exactly. And Germans had many casualties on Bf-109 landings as well. I really can't wait, what will people say about that narrow V-shaped landing gear of 109.
  17. True!
  18. True. A lot of people just train and then flying ok. Of course there never will be everything 100% real in a computer simulator and if someone says, he hasn't experienced anything like this in IRL, well....maybe because people usually don't fly with FWs these days. And no offense. I don't mean it in a bad manner.

    MiG-15Bis

Do we really need two Mig-15 BIS threads? :-)
  20. Honestly...Dora isn't difficult to land. I crashed it for the first time and everything fine since then. You just have to be stable and level, when touching down. That's all. I know it sounds macho, but it's the reality. I really can't wait, what threads will be created, when BF-109 will come out. Dora is a sweetheart, Messerschmitt is a bitch. And I'm really looking forward the moment, when people will give their first tries on carrier landings. :-D I understand, that everyone has to learn it. But I DON'T understand, why there is always something like "you made this too difficult" or "there must be some bug" or something like these stupid comments towards the developers.
  21. No. Only FC3 owners will have this updated Su-27 for free and the rest (like me) will buy it.
  22. Interesting.:)
  23. Hi. I didn't know, where to put this. There is a slight mistake in spelling on the DCS website. In User Files section, there is a search filter and in the "Language" tab, there is "Chezh" instead of "Czech". Can someone repair it, please? It's bugging me. :-) Thanks a lot.
  24. So...now we need teaser from Glowing Amraam, cold start-up from Wags, trailer from Glowing Amraam and than we can have it. :-)
