  1. Yes, i spent 2 months in northern France some years ago, but this doesn't mean much since i didn't see it from above. Now i've seen more videos and the towns near the coast line seem to be really nice. Airfields seem to be a good step forward as well. I'm just concerned about what it looks like more inland. From the video posted at the start of the thread, the landscape seemed to be exclusively made of polygonal grass fields and perfectly straight tree lines, while in real life there are many things breaking this pattern if you look at a reasonable size area. I also noticed that 90% of the fields seems to be the same shade of green; this may be related to the seasons, but if you look on google maps you can see a lot more color variations. Don't get me wrong, i'll be very happy if this map turns out to be really good.
  2. Am i the only one that finds the looks of the new Channel map underwhelming? I thought this one will look much better than Normandy, but in this video it looks very similar: the same polygonal fields and forests, dead straight tree lines... The planes in DCS are wonderful but in my opinion the ground graphics are way behind, so in the end this pushed me away. I was really hoping this map will bring me back to DCS...
  3. Truly exceptional work, can't wait to fly it over the new WW2 map. I hope someday you will finish the Typhoon as well. I have a lot of reference material for the Typhoon and Tempest, let me know if you need it in the future.
  4. I'm glad it helps. My rubber bands are roughly circular with a diameter of approx. 85-90mm, but i twist them to an 8 shape and fold them before installing them on the pedals, so they are actually 2 times smaller but the spring force is higher.
  5. The spring mechanism on the TPR is really bad, even at max setting the spring tension is very weak near the neutral position. It is very easy to have unwanted rudder input because you can't feel any resistance from the pedals around neutral. I simply replaced the springs with rubber bands which work 1000 times better. You can make the pedals as stiff as you need by adding more rubber bands. They wear out in time so i have to replace them once a month, but it's a 1 minute operation.
  6. Look awesome, thank you for the hard work. Now that you have the template i hope you will release a whole bunch of skins.
  7. For me something scalable like Mig21 module has would be great. If you don't like it you can just disable it. Back in the days when i was flying gliders i had many flights as a passenger in a Wilga PZL104. When taking off from a grass runway, everything shakes so violently that it's a miracle it stays in one piece. Once you are up in the air you still see small vibrations everywhere: engine cowl, instrument panel, plexiglass panels, etc. and of course you can feel it in your whole body. Not to mention the turbulences which also make you move around a bit. It's really very different to the "camera on a stick" effect we have now. For me spark plug fouling is just a sound, would be cool but i need more visual cues to feel the plane is alive.
  8. I would like to see some vibrations in the cockpit to get the feel the plane is alive, right now it looks like a static picture. I used camera jiggle but with TrackIR it's not possible to use it any more. Anyway, i'm looking for a low amplitude high frequency vibration, camera jiggle was something else. It's nice to see the P51 Mustang instrument panel shaking when rolling on the ground, but i would like to see this effect added to more parts in the cockpit for all planes. Maybe the small vibrations can be added to other elements outside the cockpit, like the engine cowlings. I remember i could see those vibrating when flying in a real plane.
  9. I also like the soft center, but there's a large zone around center where i can't feel any force in the stick. Then the tension ramps up very quickly close to max travel, it almost feels like i'm pulling against a rubber bump stop. I just need to feel the tension increasing more progressively.
  10. Mine feels too soft around center too. I use the Mongoos T50 CM2 grip without extension, replaced the springs with the heavy ones but kept the soft center (default) cams. As far as i know, the other option is the "no center" cams, which is probably worse for me. I have no feeling in the joystick around center but the tension at the extreme positions is ok (maybe even a bit excessive). I really think we need more cam profiles to choose from.
  11. Some baked-in shadows would be nice here and there. For example the lower instrument panel (the one with the temperature instruments ) is partially hidden behind the upper instrument panel and normally it should get some diffuse shading at least in the top area. Right now there is no shading and the color on the 2 panels is so uniform you can almost confuse them with a single panel in some situations. Something like this:
  12. The blackouts are something different. There is an option somewhere in the settings panel, where you can enable the G-force head movements. This is like adding some inertia to your head, instead of having a fixed viewpoint.
  13. The problem is that your viewpoint moves around so much under G force effects that the gunsight reticle goes outside the glass plate and becomes invisible, so you can't aim at your opponent. And this happens all the time, not just during violent maneuvers so i think it's not realistic. I like the G force effect, but i think it's a bit overdone.
