  1. Still broken Elmo... It's quicker to enter NSEC and TOT and fly 4 wpts than watch a track.. 6 mins ar 420knt GS....... It will be obvious very quickly past WP 1 that it is still broken
  2. Consider an AutoHotkey script which can be ained at a specific USB device button, say DX15 on the WH Throttle, and intiate a F15 or F16 call for TrackIR. Will be not be confused by another USB device. For me 1 button works both centre and pause......a short press for pause, longer for center.... Works well... even with TAGRET.. shout if stuck although there much in the forums and if not found I will get you sorted... if required.... :pilotfly: Kind Regards Chris.. :thumbup:
  3. Certainly I’m no expert but a chance viewing of a elderly WW2 pilot taking off in a refurbished Spitifre helped me with the P51 and FW109 DCS aircraft a lot. In the video the camera was positioned above and behind the pilot. On initial take off run, to keep on the center, he used full rudder in short jabs, on / off on/off on/off repeatedly as required.. No gradual application or holding the rudder but full deflection and then off and then full on again and straight away off, if needed etc etc As the speed increased of course the amount of deflection is reduced until the tail lifts and then minimal deflection is used. Remember try not holding the rudder, push it quickly full deflection then release. Repeat if more is needed, again and again if necessary. Reduce the amount of deflection as the speed increases. You will quickly see what works Centre the stick as previously stated at the right speed and maybe give it a little bit of right rudder. The plane will just lift off. If it stalls you need more speed before lift off, probably the stick was not centered true but slightly back / slight forward to gain speed is okay. Works for me. Kind Regards Chris
  4. Briefly, For me.... Copy existing DCS/Config somewhere safe ... etc... For restore purposes if necessary... . "Save input file to…C:\Users\Owner\Saved Games\DCS\Config...Replace existing Input file with current...." does not achieve anything. Within DCS main screen / options / controls / aircraft / You need to load each profile separately, jostick... Throttle etc... And these can be done by pointing the load file prompt to the extraction directory... even this procedure can be confusing, see previous post this thread PimpFinger... Loading profiles can not be done from the control section if the control options has been called whilst in an aircraft... To revert, you can reload your original profiles if you have stored them. Incidentally I never used the load / save profile features until I had a look at your files and had to work it out. Never had a need, used old school copy config folder instead... And I’ve been tinkering at computers since the original sinclair! A pdf installation doc illustrating each stage with a few screen shots and BIG red arrows would help those perhaps not so experienced... Again there is an offer if you want it. 29/3 addendum: Emphasise that curves are automatically included in some axes within the profiles or better still publish them with the curves set to default / straight. If you use an extension to the WH like me then curves are generally not necessary. I made the assumption that they were straight from the instructional text and only dug a little deeper when I noticed that the flying characteristic had changed. Again just my view... Kind Regards Chris
  5. Hi, Certainly some actions are easier such as controlling three way switches, multiple commands on ´push´ and multiple sequenced actions on a button are just a few examples and full scripting is another area completely - However, with me suffice to say I found reliability issues.. Absolutely.. Having only 10 degrees of flaps available per click with repeated cycles of on and off of the flap switch to go full range I found very un-natural in operation and of course little visual clue of flap position. Personally I found to use the flaps switch for this function would only be to keep in synch with the other aircraft profiles. I made the same initial choice as well by the way, did not like it and then changed it.... I totally agree with the ZOOM control to be on the slider for consistency across all profiles. Personally for the P51 I need good control of the flaps. I have settled on using the Flaps as an AXIS on the left throttle. This gives me full range together with a visual indicator as to position. I find that having engine RPM on the speedbrake control works well but in your profile the chinahat is free and could be used but the speedbrake falls more naturally to hand. You are correct... I had unzipped the file and had a look and came back to install it but my input folder had no 10C.... On further examination it was inside another subfolder.... My bad - probably an errant mouse stoke slid it across into a differrent folder.... Doah!:doh: On another thought, people use DCS aircraft in many different roles - learning to fly, pleasure flying, combat in all the different guises to formation flying. Perhaps offer 2 levels of profile.... One a flight, basic instrument controls and DCS functions such as zoom kneeboard etc all married to function - and then another level geared towards say combat with all the additional controls and sights. The included instruction text could be more informative. :book: A generic blank pdf layout for written amendments may be useful for those who do not have PS. Just a thought..... And of course if you want a hand in any of those just shout. Thanks again.. Kind Regards Chris.
  6. Hi Folks, Thanks for getting this together... appreciated. I have been spending some time writing within Target to create a generic profile to be used as a base for any aircraft type before fine customisation. Without commenting on its ease of use, TARGET I found can be randomly problematic with DCS interaction especially if DX codes were assigned to each state of a switch and in another area with consistent pulsing of keyboard characters at times of intense processing. A few comments: Your custom control method using the 3 way switches in the F190 were informative and I can use that in other aircraft type if desired and consequently abandon and further TARGET work. For me I would say that the P51 flaps lever needs revisiting for any realistic use. To cover all 5 static flap positions you could link it to a springed rocker switch using the keyboard character or, as it is also an axis, to the friction slider but I understand this will not fit the ‘generic’ model. I could not find the 10c input profile folder - there is a 10a and a default? I like the basic overall theme, it appears sound and will work fine.... thanks.. :) Kind Regards Chris
  7. FIXED.... Windows Update in its wisdom auto installed Intel Corp - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1 /2 /3 etc... before DCS updated.. My system has a Graphics Card and a built in integrated graphics option - it switches between the two dependent on need. - whatever this Windows 8.1 update did it screwed the high performance graphics causing DCS to crash. Removing the update it sorted it.... Kind Regards Chris
  8. DCS Auto updated to 1.2.15. DCS Crashes on any Mission start - just gives 'Game stopped working'.:mad: OS is Windows 8.1 with all updates installed. Hmmmm Unstalled DCS. Deleted original instal program and downloaded new DCS - over 8gb! a pain on a RF internet connection. Installed in clean. Renamed the Saved games folder in case there was any conflict. Downloaded and installed all owned aircraft types. Run a mission - SAME RESULT 'Game stopped working' :mad::mad::mad: Event Viewer application error returns : Faulting application name: dcs.exe, version: 1.2.15.37241, time stamp: 0x54eef04c Faulting module name: DXRenderer.dll, version: 1.2.15.37241, time stamp: 0x54e4b430 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000000246a1 Faulting process ID: 0x724 Faulting application start time: 0x01d058b477334c81 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\dcs.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DXRenderer.dll Report ID: bd5297ec-c4a7-11e4-82be-0090f5f8033d Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: @DCS any ideas of a fix. :helpsmilie: All was good before the update! Kind Regards Chris
  9. 1.2.15 update breaks DCS Just updated DCS to 1.2.15 with the result that DCS crashes on attempting to run any mission.. :noexpression: [updated W8.1] 'DCS repair' failed to fix... :noexpression: Hopefully a long tedious job of uninstalling, downloading new and re-installing DCS and all owned aircrafts will fix it....:cry:
  10. Snap! Odd random demands for keys - A10c + P51d - nothing regular, mayber once or so every 20 starts... Just kills the request box, sometimes it reappears sometimes not.... but eventually all works fine...
  11. Initially when I set up TARGET in the GUI rather than script I did this.. Target GUI I used.... FLAPU PRESS - L_Shift f - Pulse PRESS - L_Shift f - Pulse PRESS - L_Shift f - Pulse PRESS - LED1(throttle) - release RELEASE - L_Shift f - Pulse Moving to the UP position, Three pulses ensures flaps are up what ever the start position and them the LED makes sure No1 LED green light is off. Moving FROM the up position the release bit applies flaps down one position. FLAPM PRESS - L_Shift f - LED1(throttle) - press Lights up the No1 LED green light. FLAPD PRESS - f - pulse PRESS - f - pulse PRESS - LED2(throttle) - press RELEASE - L_Shift f - press RELEAE - LED2(throttle) - release Two pulses ensures flaps are fully down what ever start position. Lights up the No2 LED green light. On change from this position, the RELEASE bits move flaps up one, and turn off LED No 2. Its worked fine ever since.... but probably not the most effecient as I was just starting out.... :noexpression:
  12. Latest upgrade 1.2.10.30996 flying the A10-C has caused random crashes and siezures but these I can live with as presumably progression is made towards EDGE however, external views F2 and F10 at randon times are unobtainable or the reverse, you get the view but then cannot leave it - A real pain as DCS has to be forced to close and end of flight plan.... Issues are random in timing but repeatable, you just do not know when! ? :) i7-4710MQ 8GB NVIDEA GFX765M W8.1
  13. for info of anyone else searching... took a while for me to find this.... edit file ...DCSWorld\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit\ViewportHandling.lua.. around line 29.... here's the original and my edited line for positioning and size... Hope this helps.. ORIGINAL: dedicated_viewport = {default_x,default_y,default_width,default_height} EDITED: dedicated_viewport = {1358,1090,562,750}
  14. Run TARGET script from the GUI. Fire up DCS and go to OPTIONS > CONTROLS Look in the coloum titled 'Thrustmaster Combined" for your 'enter' command and delete it.... Hope this helps Kind Regards Chris
  15. Have a look at https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/. Running a 17" OptimusV here and DCS runs fine on 2 monitors incl Helios when the notion takes me. If it is a laptop you want, your budget will pull in the Vortex range... configure what ever way you want.... it will run DCS fine... Kind Regards Chris
