  1. I didn't expect a release today, it is done when it is done. What I was hoping for, though, was at least a screenshot or two of the -A in action :)
  2. I remember vaguely that I've read somewhere that on airframes before a certain BUNO, pressing the Autopilot emergency disengage paddle would deactivate the pitch and roll SAS as long as the paddle switch is held. Upon release, the pitch and roll SAS would reactivate. On Tomcats with BUNOs after this certain one, the roll and pitch SAS would stay in the off position when the paddle is pressed. The latter would apply to all AFCS -B's, as that certain BUNO was an A-model built in -84. I assume that HB did their fair bit of research on this matter :)
  3. This applies to DFCS-equipped aircraft. The pitch and roll SAS servos on AFCS-Tomcats, as modelled by HB, are disengaged while the paddle is held depressed.
  5. If you're looking for a soundtrack during your Tomcat missions and are into quality Heavy Metal, check this out:
  8. I'd say that's a bristol pegasus engine judging by the struts infront of each cylinder.
  9. hats off to you that you go the extra mile and don't settle with superficial engine modelling!
  10. und Afghanistan ließe sich gut an die SoH map anschließen. Man denke an carrier ops...
  11. imagine some cheeky one-liners from jester while dogfighting or when the landing didn't go as planned :D
  12. thanks Spudknocker, that shall keep me entertained till football (some may call it soccer...) starts
  13. Hi guys, i've searched the whole forum, but i can't seem to find anything similar to my problem. I wanted to do a clean open alpha install, wiped the old version and started the freshly downloaded updater. It works fine for a couple 100mbs, but then the updater just freezes. It even wont let me kill the process in the task manager, only solution is a reboot. Tried downloading a couple of times, disabled my AV, etc., same result. Any ideas? Thx in advance, Flo
  14. dit wär schnaffte morgen
  15. gibts schon einen vernünftigen free flight server für die viggen? ein wenig rumheizen und auf landstrassen landen (challenge!) wäre erstmal ganz nett, bevor ich tiefer in die materie einsteige
  16. The NTTR map entirely consists of photoreal ground textures, that's what makes it so heavy on the hard drive. I guess photoreal textures are an exeption. I assume the LN maps will use generic texture tiles that don't use that much space.
  17. I doubt it will take this long. The -21, as we all know, had a tough start. It was their first release, the know-how and the techniques didn't grow on trees, the team had to work hard for it from scratch! Now they've developed a base they can build on. Plus i think the ongoing development of DCSW didn't make things easier for them!
  18. Basically everything has been explained pretty well here. If it is a controlled airfield, atc will tell you where to enter the circuit (eg on base, downwind)in order to keep the traffic flowing, for example:"D-EXYZ, enter left downwind, RWY 09L." When approaching an uncontrolled airfield, the pilot chooses and announces the pattern entry, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the charts: "On downwind rwy 09L, D-EXYZ." The basic rule here is "See and Avoid", as a pilot you are responsible for traffic avoidance and monitoring the pattern area. IIRC, when i was in the GAF at a Control and Reporting Centre listening on the TWR freqs, most of the time our Tornados where given vectors to final. From personal RL civilian flying experience, the only need for a traffic pattern is to manage your own approach, most of the time it was a straight in approach.
  19. And there is the Taurus, which is btw a swedish-german missile.
  20. Doesn't crash anymore, but the mig won't allow me to pilot it, it is ai controlled edit: switching off antivirus did the trick, works now!
  21. To start DCS 1.5 on steam, start steam/steamapps/common/dcsworld/bin/dcs.exe with steam running works here (having other issues tho)
  22. Nothing new on steam, last update October 1, 2015 – 07:12:57 UTC 64-bit versions of the modules are up on steam already though, just waiting for the main update https://steamdb.info/app/223750/depots/?branch=openbeta
  23. You guys clearly don't know what's good :D I'd love to see a Viggen module, though the model could be made as a non-flyable model for a theatre?
