  1. Is the white wash thing not something that could be fixed if we had access to the gamma/ brightness settings though? 0.7 hides the rift from nvidia settings, is there no way to preserve the benefits of direct mode but get back the ability to tweak?
  2. Cool :) I must have improved then lol. What would cause loss of tail rotor effectiveness? Thanks!
  3. Did anything change with the flight model at all, maybe even in the last few months? I used to be so awful at hovering and landing, and now I seem to be ok. I fly it in VR though so it could just be the higher frame rate I am getting from EDGE :)
  4. Hi Tellurico The only thing I found that I could suggest is to try lots of different missions and scenarios - it seems some will cooperate more than others. YMMV though.
  5. Hi pittlebelge, If steam is getting in the way, just download the standalone client. All your steam keys will work in the standalone so you can just ship them all over to that with no hassle. As long as you are on SDK 0.7.0 you should find a much easier experience.
  6. Hi Are there any recommended settings for NV control panel when using VR? I can get some easy performance wins in the demanding aircraft by reducing settings, but it would be reassuring to know I am not leaving a chunk of performance on the table by leaving some settings unchecked in the control panel :) I also read about needing an Nvidia Inspector profile to get SLI to scale well, so perhaps such a profile might cover both bases?
  7. Yeah judder still seems to be an issue. The Huey was always the worst for it, and though the Harbor Tour was amazing (the water effects have to be seen to be believed in VR :) ) there was periodic judder especially when scenery got denser. What doesn't make sense is I am getting well over 130 FPS in non-VR. EDIT: I even added my second GTX980 in SLI, still get judder.
  8. It looks like it may have more to do with which missions you load up than the plane itself. I have been able to get these working, but not all missions: SU-25T, Bf-109, F-86F Sabre, Ka-50, F-15C, A-10A, A-10C. Keep trying different missions and it eventually works. Don't know whats going on with the brightness though.
  9. Su-25T seems to work reliably, but A-10C is not playing at all :( Just about to try the Black Shark I am on 355.98 and running a GTX980. CPU is a 5820K at 4.5GHz. Runtime is 0.7.0
  10. Seems to have needed a run through demoscene to make it happy, seems to be OK now, cheers guys :)
  11. Yes I have this too Standalone, SDK 0.7, 5820k, GTX 980, W 8.1, 355.98 drivers
  12. Sorry, I meant my DK2 view - so if I lean in, actually move my head, my avatars head leans to the side, if that makes sense?
  13. I am finding that my axes are all to cock - if I move to the left, my view goes forward. If I go forward, my view moves to the right. Anyone else had this? But holy CRAP does it look amazing otherwise :)
  14. Hi chaps So, I went to the windows search box and just put in firmware, and it found a little program with a TM logo. Sure enough it was the TM updater. Its put in VERY old firmware though - the throttle is from 2013 and the joystick from 2011. According to TM site these are the most recent, so the chances of it fixing the X99 boot problem is very small
  15. You sir are an absolute gentleman :) I have been having this exact same problem with the exact same hardware, except I had not tried a firmware update - mine are running on the old one, so I am guessing if I had tried to update I would have run into the same horrible issue! Its so good to finally find out why this is happening. The next issue is, how do you even start the firmware update in 8.1? The instructions on their site seem to be for an OS that still has a sensible start menu, as opposed to 8.1's non-menu :( EDIT: Just seen how old this post is lol. Hope you are still around. Tried to rep but can't :D
  16. Sorry if I missed it being discussed, but are DK2 performance improvements a priority at all? 75FPS is so often a big ask. On the current engine I had a 4.5GHz 5820K with SLI superclocked 980's, and performance varied. The SU-25T was pretty nice and sooth at max settings, apart from a little judder over big towns. Any of the more complex aircraft, especially choppers, HATED being in airbases or above towns and the FPS would drop very low. They were better away from these frame rate hoggers. Turning down settings will obviously improve the performance, but the old "I spent a lot of cash on my computer and I want maximum shiny" principle is driving, especially when doing low runs in the Huey. Pure awesome with a DK2
  17. Daft question, but will all the aircraft I bought for old DCS still work with DCS 2.0, just with more shininess? Those pics look sumptuous. Can't wait to fire up a Warthog in the DK2. Hopefully those performance improvements will mean finally being able to max out detail and get a 100% judder free flight :) Even in airports / over towns... Of course, CV1 will then come along and demand 90FPS, putting us back to square one :(
  18. Hello everyone Thank you for the suggestions and info. I actually do have a hub but was finding that stuff would stop working with it in. X99 has a lot of teething problems to iron out I think! I will give it another go and see if its changed. Yeah its weird about how only certain things cause the boot hang. Its a PITA constantly unplugging and re-plugging every time you want to reboot
  19. Hello I am having an interesting issue with USB headers and the slightly grumpy ASUS X99 Deluxe, and a rep told me that my issues MAY be due to one of my USB devices exceeding USB Standard. Anyone know what the current draw is for the Warthog throttle? Its USB 2.0 so I am guessing it shouldn't be more than 500mA. Does it have any behavioural issues though? I plugged it in once and it caused a surge (PSU is a Superflower Leadex Platinum 1000W so I would be dumbfounded if its that causing the problem, I bough the damn thing on the strength of the bench review's claims of super stability).
  20. Excellent news. Isn't it mind blowing with everything up full :)
  21. Nope. 75Hz main. No difference whether rift as primary or not. No one said you have to overclock to get rid of judder, only that at full settings it helped. Are you running at full settings? If yes, congratulations.
  22. Hi battguano and EddieJames Its all a bit cockeyed because I ran DCS at first with a 4.3 OC. It was super smooth, and I assumed it was because of my SLI cards. However I took the OC off for one reason or another and put the chip back to stock (BIG 1.0GHz step down on a 5820K) and even with the two 980's in there, JUDDER. The CPU makes a massive difference, at least it seemed to for me. Does your OC help battguano? I have read on flight sim sites that same clock speeds on different chips don't always translate - so 4.5 on one chip may not give the same results as 4.5 on another. All I know is DCS was silky smooth at full settings in the rift, with only the most barely perceptible judder. EddieJames - mainly from guides online. For X99 there is an ASUS ROG guide, as well as the ASUS boards have auto overclocking features. Veteran OC'ers will sneer at the software clocks, but if you are a noob to it, it may be a way in. Usual caveats apply, get good cooling, make sure you know what something does before you change it, you really can do damage quite easily. There are a ton of guides over on the overclock.net forums, intel ones here http://www.overclock.net/f/5/intel-cpus . TechPowerUp forums are great and really friendly, look for an awesome guy called Cadaveca (CA-Dave-CA :D ).
  23. To those getting frame rate judder, if you haven't already and have the cooling / guts / experience to do so, try an overclock on your CPU. I was absolutely stunned at the difference in smoothness it makes, and in fact it wasn't my SLI 980's at all giving me the nice frame rate - it was the 4.3GHz I was getting at the time with my 5820K. The moment I went back to stock settings, but SLI (or even one card only for that matter), the judder was back. DCS is a true flight sim I guess, only has eyes for clock speed :)
  24. Hi Derek I only had one card in at the time, though SLI had worked before I had the USB problem (which in any case I am starting to think is a defective mobo issue anyway). However, I have got SLI working but have no idea how to check my frame rate inside the rift. I did try to get MSI Afternburner running with it but I just got the damn black screen again. SLI made the game look incredibly smooth, but now I have smoothness, nausea has come back so I need to re-acquire VR legs. There MAY be latency, I am not sure - it looks pretty similar whether using one or two cards, though with one I get more judder I assume to do with frame rate. As stated though all settings are at maximum and that was with a 4.2-4.3GHZ CPU overclock.
