  1. Oh, I wish I could have this conversation with you. Or tell you some of the war stories. But I honestly don’t know what I’m allowed to say. Even if it’s just a JTAC, it would be a powerful asset in DCS. If it can be modeled realistically, then I think it would actually be somewhat game changing, and super useful when the dynamic campaign comes out. I don’t know how to phrase this. There are very, very very few people that understand what all of its capabilities are. Their forces maintenance is broke up into different shops, or different career fields is more accurate. Obviously radar understands the radar, but there are other shops and other capabilities. I’ve got some idea of what this things capabilities are, but it was constantly upgraded, and I don’t know how much of what it could do im allowed to say that it could do it. It’s one of those it comes down to classification again, even as just a JTAC it would be great in DCS. You’re correct that it covers a wide swath, I’m not sure what the actual ranges are but…An even partially modeled 2005 era jet would be a real force multiplier. Especially when the dynamic campaign becomes a thing and we actually have to scout. It would be a good McMuffin to escort, or take out too. Again I also want to shoot a vary heigh Polly version to peace’s. I broke my back, literally, keeping those things in the air.
  2. I don’t think so. But a whiskey would fit right in with the hornet, and the tomcat, and the hairier. If it’s old enough even the coming A-7E, and the eventual A-6E. That’s the one I want. Give me a late Cold War W.
  3. I’m a JSTARs EE seven level. I left the unit in 2021 but my understanding is they are all but retired. The specs on the radar are so classified I don’t even know them, but I have a rough idea. Having seen it in action, yes I times I’ve rode on missions. It would be a great asset to DCS. Now is enough declassified for an accurate AI asset to be modeled, no clue. I’ve flown the simulator and I promise you would fly it like once. Now an operator station would be pretty cool. Especially in multiplayer. If an Ai could properly interact with the asset’s we have, and it could act as a FAC then it definitely would be an excellent Ai asset. Also shooting my favorite tail down would be a daly ritual.
  4. And the Mirage F1. If you think about it the F-14A, F-4E, F-5E will be able to give a pretty good fight if they have the Numbers to the F-16 and F-18.
  5. That’s just it the mid 2000s we’re not “balanced.” You want that get an IADS module in game. It is frustrating for me that the FC birds that I used to love playing a stuck in the FC state. But that’s not because of a desire to balance the modern jets. The modern stuff is just so difficult to do as you pointed out. It’s getting better but it takes forever. Honestly I agree the Cold War is where it’s at. The late Cold War gives you enough sensors to find each other and a good mix of weapons when you do. Fox1 fighting leads to lots of merges and there are jets galore to model. Not to mention everything at some point did or could have fought everything. We need some more attackers on all sides. There already is good representation in DCS but the F-4E especially the newer one is going to kick that up a good bit allowing for the full range of mission sets to be flown. Hopefully we get a good Mig-23, and Su-17 at some point we have the Reds modeled pretty well. The A-7E will be great and give us the full range of missions off the boat. Then there are the one offs like the Kafir and the AJS37. Put all that together and you have a ton of different fights possible that are balanced and fun all without the need for fantasy load outs
  6. No, mod it if you want. But as for DCS itself no. Also FC seems totally dead at this point. Cold War is going to be where it’s at for balance. The Eurofighter will bring some new weapons to the modern sky’s. Unfortunately that’s about it. There still are not that many Fox3 out there even today. The best Redfor is about to happen anyway. The F-4E will give us a facsimile of Irans Air Force. It sucks, but that was also the 2000s for you. What we need are better smarter SAMs. It was and is more about fighting an IADS anyway.
  7. It isn’t going to happened but that one needs to be a full fidelity bird.
  8. I’m torn on early or late Cold War. There were so many little wars is the early period. Indian Civil war, the Suez crisis, the six day war. Everything kinda went at everything and the jets are fairly simple to model. But you’re kinda in fast WWII technology. Late war has less jets and choppers. But you get more technology. There are a ton of late war modules ether in development, or teased. Not to mention it’s supported by Ai assets. I kinda want to see more early stuff. Honestly I want more of both with a big helping of DCS Vietnam right in the middle.
  9. Korea, and Vietnam. Most U.S. Cold War fighting was around the Pacific.
  10. Yes definitely please. This bird saw a lot of action during the early wars of the Cold War. It would be the perfect match for so many jets that are in game or are already being developed.
  11. Vary true. Let’s hope ED gets a good logistics engine and dynamic campaign to reflect that. Sometimes I like to just fly. Granted mostly we will fly shorter missions. My understanding is the C2 is used for urgent transport to the carrier. I’m not sure if it’s equipped to go in country an do some of the more interesting things cargo aircraft do. Still flying logistics runs to keep a carrier armed and keep its birds in the air under all conditions would be fun from time to time. Now if it has EW and countermeasures then it could be a very interesting aircraft indeed. If not there is a 130 coming for that sort of thing.
  12. The KA-50 is a prototype. I hate it but not for that reason. The SU-25T is limited production. I would gladly drop full module price on a full fidelity SU-25T on day one if it could ever be done. F-20 was fully tested and offered. It’s also one of my favorite jets. Again I would buy day one at full price plus some. We fly fictitious wars anyway. If the PP flew in any configuration or capacity then I have no problem with it in DCS. Remember, even an example size of one is still a real airplane.
  13. As an old Cold Waters player this is a pipe dream I hold out hope for. But I think it would take two major developments to happen. One, navel Ai would have to get a massive overhaul. Maybe we will see it in the Dynamic Campaign, hopefully. Two, a major naval game studio would have to decide to use DCS and develop the changes to the core, assets with proper damage, models, and modules. I do think it can be done. But as we stated above, it would literally be an entirely different game. One of the main reasons I could see to do. This would be the interaction between players, commanding ships and players flying aircraft. I don’t know if we would get anything newer than an Oliver Hazard Perry, although that would be quite an awesome ship to interact with our Cold War assets, assuming we ever get Cold War assets that have anti-surface ship capability. The wholeanti-submarine warfare environment would be a completely different game put in a lot of ways may be simpler. There would have to be an acoustic model. They would have to be torpedoes that use the acoustics model, but the damage model for a submarine is, basically it sinks it wouldn’t require distractible objects on the deck the way a destroyer would, if we ever see this, I suspect it’s probably 20 years out but it really would be fun to play cold waters-ish with 3-D stations reminiscent of wolves of the Pacific and players trying to kill you with harms and anti-ship missiles. Another issue I see is time compression.Cold waters got away with 16 X but online playing as a ship would be a long, long drawn out affair. Particularly if you were just one crewmember say a sonar operator. You would get to fill a little bit of that boredom, waiting for that whisper in the vast deep. Or waiting for a service contact to engage. Still I would buy it and I would definitely play it.
  14. Yeah, but a Bison would be a different jet. And it’s not necessarily a Russian one ether. If documents are available it would be a great addition to DCS, and a good counterpart to the Jeff. I don’t know how exactly the licensing works but Raz did an F-15E even though the F-15C was is FC. So maybe the Bison is open if there is enough documentation for it. I would think there would be. It isn’t really cutting edge. It seems like one of those birds that could kinda fall through the cracks, and it would fit well in DCS, very well.
  15. Honestly most of the aircraft I wish for on here is more aimed at the third party. I love the ED modules sure. But I would rather ED focus on the core of DCS. Let the third parties make fantastic modules for us to fly. Only ED can make the world for us to fly them in. That being said i’m buying that chinook. Unfortunately all the big third party developers have their hands full at the moment. But maybe one day we will get the Foxbat with multiple versions for its multiple missions. If we ever got a full world map, the fox that would really shine as an interceptor. With the map skills we have now don’t feel like you could really appreciate how important it speed was.
  16. Contrary to many’s opinions the main job of air power has often been the breaking of logistics trains, or support of them. Your enemy can’t fight without beans, bullets, bodies, and most importantly in the modern era fuel, and nether can you. CAS is flashy logistics wins wars. Also cargo ops are combat ops. also aircraft like this are likely to pull people from the civilian flight sim community to DCS. More players is always better.
  17. Be still my hart.
  18. They are literally overhauling the logistics part of DCS as we speak. The C-130J is inbound, and ED’s next module is a cargo chopper. The Dynamic campaign will probably be heavy on logistics. Like it or not this kind of thing is coming to DCS. It’s a cool plane I’d buy it.
  19. None of your business and W A Y O F F topic, unlike his post. He was just clarifying that he didn’t mean to say the 29 was coming with the asset pack. Yes the 29 would be worth it as an Ai asset. It was heavily used over Korea and would have been used on both sides if an early Cold War would have went hot. IIRC there is talk of a Korean map and the B-29 would be almost necessary for a Korean war scenario. Honestly it would have been nice to have with the MiG-15. But its absence is felt. Not to mention it was copied down to the nut plates by the Soviets and massed produced.
  20. I understood him just fine, and I’m an idiot from Alabama. No need to get personal.
  21. Can not agree more. And the Russian clone.
  22. Nice, thanks for the info. I’m sure we are getting a G which will be sweet. I think as the Gen2 jets start coming in they are going to be extremely popular. We need more Ai bombers and attackers from that era. I’m curious how this will do against MiG-19s and F-100s. I would definitely like to have more high-performance aircraft from the post-Korea pre-Vietnam War era. That part of the Cold War almost became not so cold a few times.
  23. Not a fighter guy so no clue. But these haven’t been used as fighters much IRL. They were used a lot as CAS birds. I’m not talking about alert. But I can’t imagine they weren’t prepared and ready to go if someone got into trouble. I’m also not sure how often Mavericks were used. Or if it was mostly just JDAMs? If there are any viper guys on here, feel free to chime in. But I can’t imagine scenarios where the jet would be sitting with Mavericks on the wing pre-aligned of such a thing as possible. For instance, if we were worried about a certain country with a lot of armor, charging into another country, and we were looking to get involved. It would make sense to have those chairs ready at a moments notice so that they can launch and head to the front. But from a gameplay perspective, if the alignment actually worked, it would just be annoying. But I can’t get it to work. Not on the ground. And even in the air it’s not always good enough to actually use the maverick with the targeting pod it’s still requires me to go into the Maverick to everything. So since it can already be pre-aligned, if you start in flight, I really wish there was an option to have them pre-aligned if you start on the ground. Since he is the only jet that you have to align your Mavericks, I can’t see how it would hurt anything make it a special option and that way if people want to do it, go ham if they don’t wanna do it then they don’t have to. Like I said, I don’t know if this is something the weapons would do when they put the missiles on the wings. Or if it’s something the pilots expected to do after he takes off. I’m not a viper guy.
  24. So is there an answer to thi? Three 20mm would be really niche for anti bomber work and ground attack.
