Same, although I would be lying is I said I wasn’t a little bummed it isn’t a Yak3 I believe. But that is because I loved it in one of the other sims, and saw one epic demo at the air show in Sheppard when they opened the F-22 tech school. So I’m biased. Man I would sure love to have both. But for real I love the feel of the Soviet stuff, and the La-7 is going to be epic. Keep them coming Octopus, and I’ll keep buying them.

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect or even want OctopusG to offer an Ai asset pack. They are small, and produced a heigh quality aircraft. I expect this one will be very heigh quality as well. Having to take coder’s off the modules will only delay their completion and hamper maintenance. Razbam is a bigger studio, they can afford to branch out a bit. But I would much rather fly the this bird against FW-190, and unleash my frustration on the BF-109K than have tanks that I’m not even equipped to kill. DCS WWII is still a bit of a novelty anyway, but a fun novelty. I for one would rather Octopus throw all their effort into modules. This one is a definite purchase for me, and I suspect I will fly it a good bit too. There is one that has been teased that would be a day one buy and definitely often flown module. Then there are all the ones i wish we would get. That is where I hope these guys stay, awesome high fidelity Soviet aircraft.

Major Ken Carlson was credited with a probable MiG kill early in the war. I read an article about it once. I believe it was a head on pass. But they got hits. So yes P-51s did engage with and defeat MiGs. Now this is all way off topic.

You are so right. Korea was absolutely a mad house. I think Yaks and IL2s attacked U.S. forces. A P-51 downed a Mig-15. A biplane carried out the last successful air attack on U.S. forces. The Mustang proved pivotal in the dark early days as a ground attack aircraft. Of course there was the bombing campaign that wiped most North Korean cities, towns, and villages off the map. A well realized DCS Korea would be epic. It would take most of the developers doing at least one module to get it right. But I would be worth it.

Oh yeah, F-104 is coming! Which one we are going to have?
FlankerKiller replied to bies's topic in DCS: F-104
Reading the gun vs no gun argument is always fun. It just depends on the decade. But we are DCS players. How many gun kills do you get? For me it isn’t zero in modern era, but it’s not something I bank on ether. If F-104 had B model winders only give me that gun. If anyone here wants to go try out the AIM-9B it’s in DCS. Go on Enigmas Cold War server and load out an F-5E with no guns and some B models. Good luck, you’re gonna need it. The Widow Maker is going to be cool because it’s cool. But is going to be what it is. I don’t think you’re really going to dogfight with it. What would be cool is if we could get some of the old school bombers to actually have something to intercept. As for sneaking up on Ai, I do it all the time. turn the radar off. So B&Z is definitely on the table in single player. I personally think no matter the variant the 104 will get most of its kills from low six with sidewinder, then run. Hopefully we can get multiple variants including the S. The pre and post Vietnam era is filling up. So one of these for ether would be awesome. I’m assuming the S had RWR, countermeasures, and BVR with the AIM-7. I suspect the 104 would have done well is the Fox-1 fight, radar depending of corse. But it has the kinematics to do a wicked F-pole. I’m assuming the G lacks RWR and countermeasures. The limiting factor i see in DCS is not the jet, but the lack of targets. We need more Ai bombers from the early Cold War. And we need more ground attack aircraft, particularly early Soviet, from that era. Speaking of that era this jet was meant to fill a requirement. It was expected that it would be intercepting bombers in a nuclear war. In that role is likely would have excelled, of course assuming GCI was intact. Go fast, hit hard, run away, land, rearm refuel, rinse, wash, and repeat. Do that over and over until you ether eliminate the threat, die, or your base becomes a glowing crater. Any other role is something the Widow Maker is being shoehorned into. And it would be doing something it wasn’t designed to do to begin with. So in conclusion. I would take one AIM-9M over a fully loaded gun any day, but any earlier and give me that gun. Hopefully we get and early and late model, I guess G and and S. We need more late fifties through early seventies Soviet ground attackers as Ai, at least at first, to go up against. It’s a boom and zoom fighter that will likely be effective if it has the element of surprise on its side. -
You are true heroes to the community. Thank you. when that update hit, and it first came out that it wouldn't be supported i just uninstalled it and that was that. I'm really glad you brought it back.

It works again? Nice, I need to reinstall it. It's another wish but that technology needs to become native to DCS. Which would include the Ai back and front seaters.

SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
FlankerKiller replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
There is tons of footage of the Apache rolling and doing split S ish maneuvers. They more roll about 120 degrees and pull down. you loose altitude fast. I can perfectly replicate this in DCS. Thank you that was exactly what I was looking for. -
That would be awesome. A lot of commands to memorize though. I had Viacom and it was pretty sweet when it worked. but it was difficult to rember all the commands. I also had issues with it not picking up my voice correctly. I would have to repeat myself a lot. But if it worked voice control of Jester would be absolutely amazing. Someone needs to make that a mod to prove it can be done. then see if Heatblur would pick it up.
-
Maybe, but he searches for targets, and talks you on. It's not much different than the Cat. Just a much better HUD and avionics suit. Eventually we will get more weapons. But at the end of the day, he runs the radar and the pod to search for targets and "talk you on" Jester can do that. I just can't see the investment to reinvent the wheel. I have no clue if Heat blur would collaborate or not. Nor do i know what the cost would be. there could be other factors at play. Just from my, and i suspect many others, perspective it would be nice to have one unified Ai RIO/WSO. I want to make Petrovitch scream like a little girl and cry. Same with Gorge, I want to hear "what the @%$& are you doing from time to time.
-
But you are used to it. which is my point. I don't like the way it blocks out visibility. But I can't really think of a better solution. It works, and we all understand it.

SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
FlankerKiller replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Question, I can't roll it. It just gose crazy if I try. I thought the Gazelle was like the Apache and could do rolls and inverted in a split S. Am I doing something wrong? Is the real one not capable of those kind of aerobic maneuvers? Or is this something that is still being worked out with the FM. In normal parameters this thing is flying really well right now. -
I don't know but I can fly it fine. Is it correct now, probably not. Welcome to early access. But it certainly doesn't pogo once trimmed. Maybe I only trim it in burner, but that's still trimming it. As for fly by wire there is no close. It ether is or isn't fly by wire. And the F-15E isn't. That's coming for twenty one years of working with the guys that kept it flying. I haven't even flown it after the patch, maybe it flys like the C now. I have no clue. But it never had I pogo behavior.

JU-88 whatever version the Ai is. That thing is a Swiss army knife with wings. ME-410A with optional U1 useful for dynamic campaign, U2, and U4 conversion kits. ME-262 of course. JU-87D and G I want to fire those guns, and anti tank would be nice to have. B-25J, and H. With optional strafing nose on the J. The H because I want to fire that gun. TBM-3 Avenger C-47 L-4 Grasshopper with historical modifications for Close air support. A6M5 Type 0 N1K2-J Ki43 II PE-2B IL-2M3 So that's mine, let's hear yours. I do truly hope ED continues to flesh out DCS WWII. These modules are "easy money" for them. Just look at how many they've made in the last few year. WWII air combat is extremely fun. The aircraft are all unique. It's a good area to concentrate on.

Would you want ANY heavy aircraft modules for DCS?
FlankerKiller replied to Wing's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Thanks for bumping. We are getting a 130 so that will be awesome. -
Infantry move when engaged. The zone would be small like say 9ft. if they move they are out of the zone. LET ME BE CLEAR. This is a simple and specific request that ED require an infantry unit to be in the same group as, and close to a mortar for the mortar to fire. The same way certain SAMs require certain units to be in their group and to be in a certain distance to operate. Nothing more nothing less. Anything more becomes this.
-
Agreed. Hopefully we will see some seriously updated infantry in the future.
-
This is getting off topic. I'm not asking for animated crews. Honestly I'm not that into them. I'm asking to make morters not fire is infantry are not close by.
-
I know. I think we will see a shift with the dynamic campaign. There is some work being done and it isn't lost.on them that the Apache will need a much deeper ground combat arena to sell to its fullest potential. Honestly other then a tweak here and there I would rather them put everything into the dynamic campaign. I want to low level supplies to troops in contact under an SA-10 umbrella in that CH-47 we've all forgotten about. That's going to need a dynamic campaign. So hopefully we will see a ton of improvement to the ground fight once that comes out. This suggestion is a small tweak that would be nice in the interim.
-
It's an old game. The morters go all the way back to 2009. I don't think they were in LOMAC. The units with animated troops are much more recent.
-
It's all personal taste for sure. I wish I could have two setups lol. The closest I get is I use my old Gladiator NXT in a side stick configuration for the Viper. Glad that you got the pitching issue under control. This module is going to be a blast once it gets the first released bugs worked out.

So far I like it. The soft aviation cam was great for helicopters. But wad to soft for to long with fixed wing. The hard center aviation cam was a little to hard center. Maybe if I had ring it with light springs. I'm running two 40's on each axis. I like the way the soft center space cam gives me enough of a soft center to hover a trimed out helicopters with just the tips of my finger. But it gets more stiff as you move away from center in a linear fashion. I think it helps me feel where the stick is. I abhor the use of curves.
-
That could be why I didn't see it. I have a VKB Gunfighter with the soft center space cams installed. Yes hardwares matters, especially in helicopters.

Please keep doing what your doing. Over the last year the Harrier Ai wingmen have improved dramatically. I'm mostly a single player and the Ai has always kept me from fully enjoying the Harrier. Which is sad because it is one of my favorite jets to fly. Having it able to launch from a FARP again really brings it back to being a unique and enjoyable aircraft. Same with short fields on maps that have them. The only major gripe I have now is it would be nice to be able to bring them home too. I'm sure it's being worked on. Just know that the work that has been done is appreciated, and please finish making this unique AI work as it should.

I actually agree with you on this. But it wouldn't be worth delaying the Early Acsess release over. Hopefully one day they will get it figured out. But its still a very fun to fly jet. It's only going to get better going forward.
