As the tag says when hot starting can we set up the jet to have the Mavericks pre aligned? Same with starting on the runway. Any of the Viper crowd, was that something maintenance would do on a QRF, or Alert bird? I know on my jet we would have the back up and running sometimes, but we didn't really set alert.

You mean like when the whole F-15C fleet was grounded for fuselage cracking. I need to go see if those birds are still just sitting on the ramp. But yes it wouldn't trun like a C model. Hopefully we get a proper C at some point. But I suspect in a full scale war they would be thrown into the fry until air superiority was established. I more want it because it can be done. I've seen them fly without it. The unrestricted takeoff is ridiculous on a naked E model. Again I'm not looking for Air to Air. I don't even know if the fuselage can carry missiles. I want it because an F-15E can fly without the CFTs installed. Low priority for sure. But after it's mostly iornd out it would be a nice to have.

No REDFOR in most multiplayer servers
FlankerKiller replied to Blackhawk NC's topic in DCS Core Wish List
When the Phantom shows up we can do some Iran vs the world stuff. Most of our jets are mid 2000's. Before 2010. What Redfor was really out there then? Unfortunately modern Redfor jets are not possible. The J-10 would be awesome. But it wouldn't be much different from the Jeff which can stand in. On the Russian front maybe the SU-30. But it would still be inferior to the NATO jets. Don't get me wrong if it's ever possible to make I'll pre order an SU-30 and an SU-27. But for now the PFM Flaming Cliffs three jets are what we have for the foreseeable future. The plus side is the Cold War. With what we already have there is a Mig-23 coming. OctopusG had teased an SU-17/22 that looked to be coming along nicely. It's still going to be an up hill fight against the Bluefor cold war birds. Especially if someone makes an early F-15 and or F-16. But it will be more even. In a mid 2000's, or even modern scenario the Bule jets would be fighting an IADS as well as the Red airforce. It's just the way things were in the mid 2000's. -
The AV8B has the best training program bar none in DCS. Please do the same for this beauty.

I know you guys are going your own way with the AI WSO, but I really wish you wouldn't. Hear me out. We the player base are already used to Jester. We are used to the rotery wheel, and what he can to. He would be great in the Mud Hen, although maybe a bit more professional. You guys are going to spend mony and time to reinvent the wheel. You could contract Heatblur to collaborate and put their AI in this thing, and be done with it. You already did an amazing job on this, well worth the wait. It flies awesome, and as it gets bugs sqashed it will be awesome. You are still my favorite studio. It just seems like there are better uses of your talents then doing again what has already been done. Keep up the good work the this bird is definitely going to be one of my favorites.

And that is what is keeping me from VR. Hopefully Raz will get an AI WSO in this thing at some later point. It could really benefit from one.
-
Definitely, but eventually it will be developed. The main issue could be getting data for it. I've talked to Mud Hen pilots that have flow it in the tank less configuration, and they said it's an absolute rocket ship.

Wanted : F-15A, F-16 MLU, F-16 BLK40,BLK32
FlankerKiller replied to lee1hy's topic in DCS Core Wish List
A small tail F-16A would be just awesome. It would fit well with the slew of late cold War assets that are inbound, with the disadvantage of having to survive the forward quarter weapons. But if it gets close to anything other than a Mig-29A it's over. F-16C Bolck 40 would be super cool. Low altitude penitrateion at night! Late 80's through mid late 90's technology. Combined with the Block 52 we currently have you would have a pretty good representation of the Vipers career. At least until it becomes to classified to model. I for one would definitely pay on day one for the expansion of the Viper lineup. And you could offer the whole pack as one modules to new players. It would be epic ED. I would like to see one of the export models that carried Sparrows. I personally love FOX One fights. SU-27 is not gonna happen. Maybe a Mig-29G. But these jets mostly fed on Mig-21s and 23, sometimes 29s. And of corse the occasional nuclear power plant. The best analog to the A model that wr currently have is the Mirage 2000. Going toe to toe with that would be interesting. -

Limitations, and unique handling makes for a great sim experience. -
Knight Witches need I say more? Well I will. As well as its use for Harassing attacks in WWII it was used as a scout aircraft. It was produced and used long after WWII. It was the last aircraft to attack U.S. forces, which it did successfully. It fits in well with the I-16 and the Lagg-5. It's an interesting aircraft that again would add a new element to DCS WWII and would not be too difficult to produce.

Before you poo poo this idea pleas hear me out. The L-4 was an extremely important asset in WWII, it's ability to call in accurate artillery made it one of the most dangerous aircraft to ground troops. Also they were often modified to carry armaments so they could provide direct support. .30 cal machine guns, and bazookas were fitted and used. A notable example was Rosie the Rocker. With an armament of six bazookas it was able to knock out several armored vehicles in one battle. Their quite engine, fabric covered tubular framed fuselage made them hard to bring down with small arms unless you hit the engine or pilot. Their slow speed and ability to pop-up from behind trees made them lethal in close air support. If a script could be built into the module to call in avaliable artillery fire they would be an absolutely devastating modules against ground targets. It's easy mony for you guys, there are several examples of L-4's still flying and the modified ones are well documented. It would bring a new element to WWII as well as offering a training and to get used to flying tail draggers.

I think we should press them. I've been around F-15's my whole adult life. I've definitely seen the E model fly without the CFTs. I have no idea if it can support weapons on the fuselage, but they definitely can come off, and it can definitely fly without them. I kinda understand Razbam's reasons but it isn't a fantasy loadout. They can and do fly with the CFTs off. Even if only for functional test flights, it still happens regularly. We simulate wars of an intensity that wasn't seen for sixty years in DCS. It's hard to say what would and wouldn't be done.

Coming DCS F-5E Update Wishlist Thread
FlankerKiller replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in Wish List
So yeah, an in flight refueling probe. You could. Make it an option like the Jeff. Honestly I think Bellsimteck had the right idea with the saber. After a certain point bend the jet. The more bent the more you have to correct it. Heatblur also had the right idea make over G damage cumulative. If there was an API to combine the two it would be an awesome improvement to DCS. The F-5 would be the perfect test bed for something like that. -
Maybe it's because I've got like 1000hr is ED's F-15C. But I took the thing off with no issues, did some acrobatics, a tail slide, and RTB into probably the best overhead break I've ever performed. But again from 2015 till about 2019 just about all I flew was the F-15 with the PFM. This jet flies so similar it just felt like an old glove. I wasn't going to buy it, but the F-15, all variants, is my all time favorite aircraft. I was stationed at Robins where the Depot is. It never got old seeing the post depot flight checks. Also I'm not trying to down anyone's skills. It took me years to be able to land the C model without damaging it.

You must be vary new here. The Ai is in a different world then it was just a year ago. The GFM is just going to make the Ai performance more realistic.

Coming DCS F-5E Update Wishlist Thread
FlankerKiller replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in Wish List
I think the Schoshi Tigers flew basic F-5As. It was basically a marketing ploy. Even though there were those that wanted adoption to help fight the NVA's migs, and the ARMY wanted it for CAS work. The F-5TH would be an amazing asset in DCS. You could do some exciting missions with that one. -
Please, we don't have an American trainer, and the T-38 is legendary.

Coming DCS F-5E Update Wishlist Thread
FlankerKiller replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in Wish List
Doing an F-5 expansion pack would be easy mony for ED. Maybe and F-5A like the ones flown in Vietnam. Just a light weight knife fighter, and a later export version with the updates you mentioned. Something to give it a little more teeth. -
later with dtc Can we please edit our countermeasures profile?
FlankerKiller replied to FlankerKiller's topic in Wish List
I don't know if I would call the Jeff easy. But yeah it would be nice to have something like that. -
Is that going to release all at once, or is it a series of small tweaks over time. I cannot wait to give the new FM a try.
-
I don't think realistic modeling if IR countermeasures is possible in DCS. One its classified, two your prossers would melt. I haven't had any issues with the flares in the Hornet. They work fine against ground based IR missiles as well as forward and high aspect air to air shots. Depending on what missile your trying to defeat flares might not be much use. Especially from a rear aspect shot.

Like the above. We can edit the text file, but it breaks IC and has the be updated after every update. It's vary annoying to have to set up before every mission. -
Engine flameout when parked with tail wind
FlankerKiller replied to Proper Charlie's topic in Bugs and Problems
No, a wind gust can cause a compressor stall at any time. What's really dangerous is a sideways wind. It can starve the engine of air and let all that combustion come forward. It'll wake your ass up when you've been running ground for like two hours. Newer engines have better ways to deal with it so don't stall as much. But older engines need constant smooth air down the intake.
